Phil Mickelson shocked the golf world by winning the 103rd PGA Championship (one of the 4 major golf tournaments of the year) last week. He turns 51 in June...and no one that old has ever won a major golf tournament. Many have noticed he is a much calmer, more patient golfer than he's ever been. Something was different about Phil. It turns out Mickelson has been practicing relaxation, meditation and visualization techniques these last 2-3 years. I thought it would be interesting to look at what he implemented in his golf game and look at how we can apply it to our game in real life. After all, it is called the game of life for a reason. Why not work towards mastering our game by applying what Phil has to our lives as well! Here's a summary of what we can learn from Phil Mickelson's victory in our personal and work life:Proper preparation starts with a powerful mindsetSelect the club you can swingFor the next shot, make it the best routine of the dayIf you don't see it, you cannot create itMake a complete swingLink to the PGA.com article mentioned in the podcast.

When you make an assumption, you tell yourself that something is true without actually having any evidence that it is. It's all too easy to lead your life never questioning that you are assuming things to be facts. In today's podcast episode, I discuss what I've been learning about assumptions. I learned they are not all bad - that we are actually wired to make assumptions. But, it can be very harmful to us when we assume. I talk about how assumptions affect us in our personal, spiritual, and business life. Courage Cast - Faith, Encouragement and Motivation for Today
There can be no doubt, in our world and in our nation, we are experiencing one of the most unprecedented times of testing in our history. Much of it we have no real control over. So, I suggest we take a look at this season as an opportunity to get better. It is an opportunity to take an honest inventory of our lives. Where are we strong and where are we weak? What are we made of?Take these next 8 weeks to allow your weaknesses and strengths to reveal themselves. Financially - How are your savings? How are your investments? Spiritually - Where are you putting your trust? Mentally and emotionally - How is your thought life? What emotions are coming up?In our relationships - We're going to be spending a lot more time together. What does this time reveal about the strength of our relationships? Can we use this as an opportunity to make our relationships stronger? In our work - Are you hauling buckets - trading time for money? Do you have multiple streams of income for added protection and security? How dependent are you on your work?Physically - How healthy are you? How strong is your immune system? We've been through something similar before - as a country and a nation. We can still remember 2008/2009 when the recession hit - it was an opportunity to see what we were made of. And, for most of us, we are better for it today! And, you will be too, if you allow the process to happen!James 1:2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.Job 23:10 But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.Join the 7-Day Challenge at CourageousCommunity.com/Challenge

A few days ago, I posted a quote from Joshua Medcalf: "Everyone wants to be great until it's time to do what greatness requires."To which I asked the question: "What does greatness require?"And I received some really inspiring answers. I decided to do some more research on this topic as I was curious about what greatness really required. I want to be great - we all do. But, I, like you, sometimes don't feel like doing what greatness requires. And, I guess that's what makes the difference between great and good. And I found out in my research that it's actually a v-a-s-t distance.
