Mrs Bennet is overjoyed at Darcy and Elizabeth's, and Jane and Bingley's marriages. Mr Bennet is happy too, even to the point of leaving home to regularly visit Elizabeth at Pemberly. Jane and Bingley stay in Netherfield house for only a year, they then move up north, within 30 miles of Pemberly. Kitty goes to stay with both sisters often too, and becomes a proper lady, losing most of the bad influences that Lydia taught her. Lydia and Wickham try to get closer to Darcy and Elizabeth, hoping that Darcy will be able to provide them with a fortune. Though Darcy can never have Wickham at Longborne, he does consent to allow Lydia to visit very seldom. Even Lady Catherine, after some time passes, comes back to Darcy's side, wanting to be part of his life again, and being able to put up with Elizabeth. With the Gardiners, Darcy and Elizabeth remain forever close; forever thankful to them for their part in joining the two of them. The End.

She writes that Mr Darcy followed them to London only a day after they had left. Darcy felt responsible for what happened as he had been too proud to tell anyone about Wickham's true behaviour; Mrs Gardiner suggests a potential “other motif”. Darcy had extra information that could help him find Wickham, Mrs Young, the woman who helped him run off with Miss Darcy so long ago. She, after some bribery, told Darcy where to find Wickham and Lydia. He proceeded to meet with Wickham several times, and Lydia only once. He tried to convince Lydia to go back to her family and refused all help from Darcy. Darcy convinced Wickham to marry Lydia too, as he never really intended to do it and planned to try to marry into wealth in a different country. After meeting with Wickham and Lydia, Darcy made his way to Mr Gardiners, waiting until Mr Bennet had left the area first. The two men took several days to come to an agreement on how to proceed with the payment of Wickham's debts and eventually Mr Gardiner had to yield to Mr Darcy and let him pay for all of Wickham's disgraces. Mr Darcy then told Mr Gardiner that he was to take all of the credit for paying these debts. Darcy didn't want it to be known to the Bennet family that he had interfered. On the day of the wedding, Darcy was also present, and he then dined with the Gardiners at their home. Mrs Gardiner concludes, writing that Mr Darcy is in need of a little more liveliness, and that if he married well, then she could teach him, and jests to Elizabeth that she should one day like to complete her tour of the grounds of Pemberly.
Gardiner Angus Ranch started with a Kansas homestead, a willingness to work and a quest to stay curious, says fourth-generation rancher Mark Gardiner. From “pay it forward” and “there is no downside to marbling,” Gardiner shares both life advice and breeding philosophy during this episode that covers everything from the history of the ranch and their involvement in the start of U.S. Premium Beef to today. Early adopters of artificial insemination (AI), Gardiner talks of the change they've been able to make because of technology and access to information over the years. But in the end, it all comes back to the people who help make it possible. HOSTS: Mark McCully and Miranda Reiman GUEST: Mark Gardiner, Gardiner Angus Ranch, is the fourth generation to raise cattle in western Kansas, near Ashland. Longtime Angus producers, the Gardiners were early adopters of AI and are now one of the largest embryo transfer (ET) programs in the breed. Mark is a founding board member and current board chairman of U.S. Premium Beef, former Board member of the American Angus Association, former chairman of the NCBA Seedstock Council and former president of the Kansas Angus Association. Lydia sends letters to her mother, saying that she is visiting libraries and is spending time with Mr and Mrs Forster with the officers, and sends letters to her sister Kitty, saying far more interesting things with a lot of hidden details. Elizabeth isn't feeling amazing, and the thoughts of her northern tour with her aunt and uncle keep her morale above water. Her aunt however writes saying that her work is preventing them from coming at the expected time, and that their tour is also going to have to be cut short, meaning that they should only really be able to go as far north as Derbyshire… Eventually her family arrives, and they set off for the North with Elizabeth. When they get to Derbyshire, they explore the area where Mrs Gardiner used to live, Lambton, only 5 miles from Pemberly. Both of the Gardiners wish to visit the grounds and ask Elizabeth if she would go there. After asking the chambermaid if Darcy would be there and finding out he wouldn't, she agrees to go.Support the Show.Thank you so much for listening, if you want to support the me go to any of these links :)*Social*INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/theessentialreadsTWITTER: http://twitter.com/IsaacBirchallvoKo-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/theessentialreads
Elizabeth receives two letters from Jane, but they bear some dreadful news from home and the Gardiners and her have to hastily leave Derbyshire.
Elizabeth and the Gardiners are visiting Pemberley and Miss Bingley is there as well, but she doesn't seem so happy about their visit.
Mr Darcy makes visit to the Gardiners and Elizabeth, but he's joined by two people, including an old acquaintance of Miss Bennet.
Elizabeth and the Gardiners are visiting Pemberley-House, the estate of Mr Darcy. But what will happen there?
Elizabeth is asked to join her aunt and uncle, the Gardiners, to visit Derbyshire, where an estate of an acquaintance of her is.
Elizabeth tells Jane of her conversation with Darcy. At first Jane is surprised - she didn't think Lizzie liked Mr. Darcy at all - but then overjoyed that her sister will be married to him. Darcy asks Mr. Bennett for Elizabeth's hand. Mr. Bennett is also surprised at this news - as he too thinks Lizzie does not like the man, but Elizabeth assures him she does and that this is what she wants. Elizabeth also tells her father it was Darcy who paid Wickham. Her father is delighted that he does not have to pay back his brother-in-law. Elizabeth tells Mrs. Bennett who is shocked and then beyond happy to know not only are three of her daughters being wed but that Lizzie will be wealthier than even Jane! Elizabeth asks Darcy when and how he came to love her. He cannot be sure when but he fell in love with her because of her spirit and mind. The news of the engagement is shared: Elizabeth writes to the Gardiners, Darcy to Lady Catherine, and Mr. Bennett to Mr. Collins. Mr. Bennet writes that though he knows Lady Catherine may be angered by Darcy denying marriage to her daughter, Collins should seek side with Darcy as he is more well off. Collins does and visits the family with congratulations. Jane and Bingley move into an estate near Pemberley. The Bennet family visits often - especially Kitty who spends more time with her sisters and becomes a fine young woman. Mary stays at home with her parents. Lydia often overstays her welcome at the Bingleys, constantly asks Jane and Elizabeth for money (Elizabeth does oblige with her own savings), and moves around constantly. Georgiana and Elizabeth become close. Caroline Bingley has welcomed Jane to the family and, though disappointed in Darcy's marriage, is cordial to Elizabeth. Lady Catherine and Darcy eventually make amends and she visits Pemberley. The Jane Austen Podcast with Alison Larkin is a Realm production. Listen away. Elizabeth and the Gardiners are surprised to see Darcy arrive the next morning accompanied by his sister, Georgiana and Bingley. Georgiana is shy but pretty. Bingley is delighted to see Elizabeth and asks after her family - though careful not to mention Jane directly. Elizabeth wonders if he is still in love with Jane. Darcy invites Elizabeth and the Gardiners to stay for dinner at Pemberley. At dinner, Elizabeth is impressed by Darcy's kindness and generosity. He is attentive to his sister, and he makes a point of including Elizabeth and the Gardiners in the conversation. The next day, Elizabeth and the Gardiners return to Pemberley - Mr. Gardiner to fish with Bingley and Darcy and the women for tea with Georgiana and the Bingley sisters. Caroline Bingley tries to make Elizabeth feel uncomfortable by bringing up the departure of the militia and how it must disappoint her family. Elizabeth steers the conversation away from Wickham, in hopes not to upset Georgiana with the mention of his name. After everyone leaves, Caroline criticizes Elizabeth to Darcy - making comments about Elizabeth's looks. Darcy notes Elizabeth is still “one of the handsomest women of my acquaintance.” The Jane Austen Podcast with Alison Larkin is a Realm production. Listen away. Elizabeth is asked to visit Charlotte at Hunsford and to go with Mr Williams and Maria, Charlotte's sister. The Gardiners invite her in the city.
Mr Collins and Charlotte get married and Jane leaves for the city with the Gardiners. Will she meet Mr Bingley?
The Gardiners come to Longbourn to visit the their relatives. They discuss about Mr Bingley's departure from Netherfield and Elizabeth finds out more about the dispute between Darcy and Wickham.
Elizabeth tells Jane of Darcy's proposal and letter - leaving out the bits on Bingley and focusing on Wickham's true character. She asks Jane if she should expose Wickham to their mutuals, but ultimately they decide against it, as Darcy didn't expose the matter to anyone himself. Colonel Foster's wife extends an invitation to Lydia to spend the summer with them in Brighton. Elizabeth asks Mr. Bennett to not allow Lydia to go, worried Lydia's flirtatious nature will embarrass the family. But Mr. Bennett believes there is nothing to be done about her nature - it's either her at home or in Brighton, and in Brighton perhaps she will mature. Thus, Lydia departs for Brighton, leaving behind a jealous Kitty. Elizabeth sees Wickham before he leaves. She makes mention of having seen Darcy and met Colonel Fitzwilliam. Wickham comes to understand, through Elizabeth's discreet hints, that she knows the truth of his past. They depart. Elizabeth reflects on her parent's marriage: she's disappointed that her father has married a ridiculous woman, yet also disappointed in her father as he has not been a respectable spouse. In July, the Gardiners take Elizabeth on a tour of the country, as promised. Mrs. Gardiner suggests they visit Pemberley. Elizabeth agrees when they discover Darcy will not be home. As we embark on the next episode of Pride and Prejudice, we will witness the culmination of the tumultuous events that have been brewing in the preceding chapters. Chapter 47 begins with a conversation between Elizabeth and her uncle, who, upon reflection, is inclined to share the optimistic perspective of Elizabeth's eldest sister on the scandal unfolding around them. The mystery surrounding Wickham and Lydia's sudden and secretive departure is at the forefront of their minds, and the possibility of dishonourable motives is contemplated with grave concern. The Gardiners, in their wisdom and pragmatism, make an effort to reassure Elizabeth, urging her not to judge Wickham too harshly in the face of uncertainty. However, Elizabeth, displaying her characteristic acumen, refuses to give Wickham the benefit of the doubt. Her conviction is met with surprise by her relatives who encourage her to entertain the potential for a less calamitous outcome. The unexpected joy of their little cousins, oblivious to the gravity of the situation and simply excited at the sight of a carriage, offers a brief, yet powerful moment of lightness in an otherwise tense atmosphere. As the chapter progresses, we see the Bennet household plunged deeper into the quagmire of scandal and societal backlash, their every hope hinged on the arrival of more information. Chapter 48 finds the Bennet family caught in the cruel grip of anxiety as they wait with bated breath for any news from Mr. Bennet. His lackadaisical approach towards correspondence, which in ordinary circumstances might have been amusing, now heightens their fear and anticipation. This delicate balance of tension, hope, and frustration makes these two chapters a compelling listen. In the midst of these revelations, Elizabeth finds her thoughts drifting back to Mr. Darcy - a man whose caution and propriety stand in stark contrast to Wickham's duplicity and recklessness.

Fort Ontario, situated opposite Oswego City at the mouth of the Oswego River, was built by the British in 1726 and destroyed 30 years later by the French. The British reconstructed the fort in 1759, abandoned it after 37 years in 1796, but used it once more in the War of 1812. It was finally demolished at the end of that war, leaving only its ramparts as a testament to its history. Fort Plain is located by the junction of U.S. 90 and N.Y. 5S, Montgomery Co., near modern-day Fort Plain village. In 1776, Patriots built fortifications that enclosed a farmhouse and its immediate area for about half an acre. The Tories later destroyed the fort in 1780. Fort St. George, constructed in 1776 by the British, is located near Mastic Beach and Smith's Point Bridge on Long Island, a few miles away from William Floyd Parkway. The Patriots captured and destroyed the fort in 1780, leaving a few parts that still survive today. Fort Stanwix was an Indian trading post built by the British in 1725 in the heart of Rome City in Oneida County. The British enlarged it in 1758 but abandoned it later in 1769. Both sides of the Revolutionary War used the fort separately at different times. In 177, A bloody battle between these contesting forces occurred here. Nothing of the site has survived. Gardiners Island was an anchorage in the early colonial period and was located half of the way of the forks on the east of Long Island. The British established a small naval base in Gardiner's Bay during the Revolutionary War. German Flatts used to be the location of Palatine settlements that stretched for about ten miles in the Mohawk Valley near modern-day Herkimer, Herkimer County. The Palatines moved into the area circa 1730 only to have their homes destroyed first by Iroquois and later by Tories during the Revolutionary War. The ruins of hundreds of Palatine homes can still be seen here today. Ruins. About 1700, the Huguenots came and settled New Paltz, located somewhere near N.Y. State Thruway, between the areas of Kingston and Newburgh in Ulster County. Plenty of Huguenot brick and stone homes are still found in this region. Ruins. Remnants of early settlers' homes can still be found on N.Y. 5S near Indian Castle close to Indian Castle Church somewhere part of the way between Fort Plain and LittleFall. Many of these residences were destroyed during the French and Indian Wars. Some remains of Mohawk village dwellings can also be found in this vicinity. Johnstown, first settled in 1760, can be found at N.Y. 67 and State Road 30A, Fulton County. Many homes and other structures were destroyed here during a major battle in 1781. The massive destruction was great, as evidenced by the ruins of its old buildings still visible in the area. Kingston was founded in 1615 by Dutch settlers in Ulster County. They constructed Fort Esopus, which was first intended as a trading post and later became known for its prosperity. Despite the fort being destroyed in 1777 by the British, people rebuilt a new town over the remnants of old buildings. Lake George Village is found by the lower end of Lake George, Warren County, over on U.S. 9 and I-87. American and French troops fought in a great battle here in 1755. After winning, the American forces constructed Fort William Henry not far from here. The French launched an attack in 1757, held off by the Americans who surrendered after five months of fighting. The Indians allied with the French massacred every single American and dumped their corpses in a lake which came to be known as Bloody Pond, located close to the present town. Also nearby are Forts Gage and George, built during the Revolutionary War. Minisink Ford, over by the Delaware River just opposite Pennsylvania, Sullivan County, is located in the township of Lackawaxen in Pennsylvania, Sullivan County. On July 22, 1779, the Patriot forces' entire contingent was wiped out by the Tories and their Indian allies. In this episode Theresa is asking "Where is Darcy?" We discuss how Wickham is evil and give our musings on some of his abusive behaviour and predatory traits.
