1 Peter 4:7-11
In this text Jesus deals with the issue of charitable giving. Is your giving -God glorifying- or not-- Jesus makes it clear that motives matter when it comes to our giving and that God knows the reality of the reasons why we give-regardless of how they may outwardly appear. Only God glorifying giving will reap heavenly rewards. Will yours--

Costa Rica and the Netherlands are highlighted today in our random globe trot. Once again, we are humbled, thankful, and amazed at what the Lord has done. Thank you, Costa Rica and the Netherlands, for being part of the Free Range Preacher on Prayer family. We had the desire today to put some skin on our tagline, we haven't reviewed what we mean by a growing, Biblical, dynamic, sincere, soul-satisfying, and God glorifying prayer life, so here we go. The real meat of our tagline is centered on what the Bible has to say about true community with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Growing: Matthew 11:28-30 "Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 "Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and YOU SHALL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 "For My yoke is easy, and My load is light." 1 Peter 2:1, 1 John 2:25, Hebrews 5 Biblical: Worship, Repentance, Gratitude, Intercession, and Supplication. Dynamic: Our natural two-way conversation. Psalm 16:6 is heart-wrenching, Psalm 119:132 is comical, Psalm 48:15 is hopeful, and 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 comforting. Sincere: Psalm 62:8 "Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah." Soul-satisfying: John 17:3 But I have trusted in Thy lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in Thy salvation. 6 I will sing to the LORD, Because He has dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 13:5-6 God-glorifying: "Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:1 Our So What? True, abundant life comes through our genuine relationship with the Almighty Creator, Redeemer, and Teacher. Paul's Ministry to the Thessalonians 2For you yourselves know, brothers,[a]that ourcoming to youwas not in vain.2But though we had already suffered and been shamefully treatedat Philippi, as you know,we had boldness in our Godto declare to you the gospel of God in the midst of muchconflict.3Forour appeal does not spring fromerror orimpurity orany attempt to deceive,4but just as we have been approved by Godto be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, notto please man, but to please Godwho tests our hearts.5For we never came with words of flattery,[b]as you know, nor with a pretext for greedGod is witness.6Nor did we seek glory from people, whether from you or from others, though we could have madedemands asapostles of Christ.7But we weregentle[c]among you, like a nursing mother taking care of her own children.8So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of Godbut also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us.

Pastor Ricky will be continuing his teaching on the sovereignty of God and man's free will. Some Christians believe that because God is the one who controls those who get saved, then there is no reason to evangelize. The Bible is clear that even though God sovereignly opens the eyes of those He chooses to save, believers are still to preach the gospel. You can't completely understand all of God's mysteries but God's command to preach the gospel is very straightforward.
The voice of culture is telling women to find their purpose and worth in their own independence, accomplishments, and social status. The voice of the church is often telling women to diminish or dismiss their purpose and worth by remaining quiet, hidden in the shadows of men, and unused in their God-given gifts. We believe the scriptures present a different way. One removed from the entrapments of both progressive culture and church tradition, that rests and flourishes in the beauty and power of the gospel.
How can a believer have free will and choose Christ and God be sovereign and choose those who would receive Him? Pastor Ricky will be tackling this controversial issue with his teaching today. The truth of the matter is that you can't completely understand the vastness and majesty of God's being and His ways. You have to trust that somehow, someway both these truths are a reality and work in God's plan. As a believer, you must be comfortable with God's mysteries and trust Him.

Wearing a shirt with a Bible verse or playing worship music doesn't necessarily make our work worship. Our work becomes worship when it is creation fulfilling and God glorifying. This means we must do our work well and represent Christ while we are doing it.

This is a devotional taken from "Daily Devotions from the Psalms" written by Rev. John A. Heys, and published by the Reformed Book Outlet in Hudsonville, Michigan. Rev. Heys studied in the Protestant Reformed Seminary under the instruction of Herman Hoeksema and George M. Ophoff. He was ordained to the ministry of the Word, and installed as pastor, in Hope Protestant Reformed Church in Walker, Michigan in 1941. He served consecutively, and under the blessing of God effectively, three other Protestant Reformed churches, till his emeritation in 1980. In his 'retirement' he continued to be of service to the churches, and evidence of which is this set of daily devotions, one for each day of the year, published originally some 25 years ago by the Men's Society of Hudsonville (MI) Protestant Reformed Church, and reprinted here for the spiritual benefit of readers old and new. Scripture passages quoted by Rev. Heys are from the King James Version of the Bible, and the versification of the Psalms to which he refers are from the 1912 edition of the Psalter. May these brief meditations of Rev. Heys serve for the edification of the reader, as they also deepen his appreciation for the psalms-those "immortal songs of the Holy Spirit, those matchless hymns of the Bible which...with their measured language of religious feeling and devotion will abide until the end" (preface to the 1912 Psalter). Hello, and you're listening to the Faith First Podcast. In today's episode, I sit down with our Lead Pastor Steve Darr to talk about how our Spiritual Gifts are both God-Given and God Glorifying. You mean Steve, they're not meant to pump up my ego?In this episode you'll discover:Why Spiritual Gifts are given to serve othersWhere Scripture lists the Spiritual GiftsWhat the purpose of God giving believers Spiritual GiftsHow Spiritual Gifts differ from our natural abilities and talentsWe can find lists of the Spiritual Gifts in Scripture. The Bible mentions the gifts of the Spirit in a number of different portions of Scripture. They can be found at Romans 12:6–8, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 1 Corinthians 12:28, 1 Corinthians 12:29,30, 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, 1 Corinthians 13:8, 1 Corinthians 14:6, 1 Corinthians 14:26, Ephesians 4:11, and 1 Peter 4:12. It is also possible that 1 Corinthians 7:7 and 1 Peter 4:9 may be referring to spiritual gifts. Some of these references are definite lists of gifts while others are passages that mention more than one gift but cannot really be referred to as lists.God has given gifts to the Body of Christ, that's you, to manifest His presence among us to remind us of our dependence upon one another and in doing so build unity in the Church, to edify the body, and save the lost. The Spiritual Gifts are God's provision to equip His children to minister to others. We hope through this series of messages and conversations you'll discover and put into practice the Spiritual Gifts God has given you for His glory. Until next time, we want to connect with you and how God has been using you for His glory. If you've got a story to share, head on over to our website at www.firstcong.com and send a message. We'd love to hear from you. Thanks for listening. Now, go out and use the gifts you've been given faith first.
You are listening to the Faith First Podcast and in this episode we continue with our series on Spiritual Gifts. If you're like me your ears perk up that you are going to be given a gift. Yeah! However, this gift is not for your own use. It is first of all God-given and secondly to be used to glorify God. Well, let's not delay and listen in to our Lead Pastor as he brings the message of Spiritual Gifts, God-Given and God Glorifying. In this episode you'll discover:Why our gifts are given to usWhy a Spiritual Gift is more than talentWhat we are to do with the gifts God gives usHow human nature gets in the way of using our Spiritual GiftsThere is a great diversity of gifts given by God to His church. This is important because we can often find ourselves coveting other people's gifts while undermining the gifts God has given us to use in the church. But we all have a distinct role to play, and it is irreplaceable from all the other roles that constitute the body. You are needed in the body to glorify God through the use of your gifts. We launch a new episode of the Faith First Podcast every Tuesday so make sure you hit the subscribe button and be alerted to when the next episode is ready for listening. Until then, recognize that your gifts are to glorify God faith first.
