Grace is God's undeserved kindness. The doctrine of grace is that God treats us better than we deserve to be treated. Grace is "the love and mercy given to us by God because God desires us to have it, not because of anything we have done to earn it.” Grace comes from the Greek Word “charis” literally meaning “gift, kindness, generosity.”Main Points:1. God's Word teaches us that we are all sinners. We are all in need of God's grace. Jesus came, and by his death on the cross, paid the penalty for our sins. Salvation doesn't happen automatically because God is good. Because God is good, there is now a path to salvation, but it must be received. We receive grace by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone.2. Eternal life is not a reward for good people; it's God's gift to forgiven people. When Jesus died on the cross he was lifted up to carry the sins of the world. Your sin and mine. His death satisfied sin's requirements. Whatever you think you owe God, Jesus paid it. 3. To receive God's amazing grace, we must recognize we are lost. We must agree with God that we are sinners in need of His salvation. This is where we offer God our confession and repentance. Through faith, we believe in Jesus, and by grace we are saved. It's only here that those who are lost are found. Those who are blind now can see. God's grace is truly amazing.Today's Scripture Verses:Ephesians 2:8-9 - “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.”Romans 5:20 - “… But where sin increased, grace increased all the more.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

We're in a message that Mark has titled, How to Survive a Spiritual Attack … and we're discovering one of the ways the enemy attacks us is through anxiety and fear. The Greek Word for "anxiety" means "to divide." Anxiety divides our minds, making it nearly impossible to concentrate on anything else … and yet God gives us strategies to overcome these spiritual attacks. * Last week, we saw Jesus rebuke the Pharisees and Lawyers for being concerned about their outward appearance and living differently on the inside. * We would call this activity "hypocrisy." Hypocrisy is actually the transliteration of a Greek Word and it is actually what Jesus summarizes their activity as and about which He warns His disciples. * In today's passage, we see Jesus present four warnings to His followers and those pressing in about Him: beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, beware of fearing men, beware of denying the Messiah, and beware of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on November 24, 2024 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

Join Craig and theologian Duncan Kerry Palmer in a riveting exploration of how ancient Greek nuances reshape our understanding of biblical texts. This episode delves into the significant impact of translations, particularly words like 'exousia' and 'hupotaso', which challenge traditional interpretations of authority and compliance within Christianity. Through Palmer's insightful anecdotes from theological debates, we uncover the profound implications of these linguistic subtleties on interpretations of key scriptures such as Romans 13 and Acts 5:29. This discussion not only illuminates the complex relationship between Christianity and state authority but also invites listeners to reevaluate their perspectives on governance and societal roles in light of scripture. As we unravel the intriguing concept of translation conspiracies, the episode encourages a critical examination of how language influences our understanding of divine mandates, urging a thoughtful reconsideration of passages like "render unto Caesar." In this episode, we unpack the 7 Greek words used for love. We think you will "love" this conversation.
* Last week, in our study of the book of James, we considered what it meant to "Count it all joy WHEN you fall into various trials." We saw that the word for "joy" actually DOES mean to be gleeful and happy. We saw that the term for "testing" means to be tested and proven as genuine, real, or legitimate. We also discussed that the Greek word for "patience" used here is the word "hupomonae" which literally means "to remain under." Hence, the assaying of our faith, through trials which determine it's genuineness, actually help to cause our faith to be matured and complete in order that it is not lacking in any manner. * If, as we are engaging the trial, we recognize that we lack the wisdom to deal with it, we are instructed to ask God for wisdom in how to handle it because He has promised to liberally give wisdom to all who seek it! * Last week, we purposefully skipped over a critical word in our study in order to deal with it more fully in this message. It is the word translated as "trial" in verse 2. The Greek Word is peirasmos. It is literally, "a troublesome situation." These situations, as we see in this passage, can either strengthen your faith or reveal your need for confession, cleansing and sanctification. Most translators choose to translate the word two different ways in this passage - trials and temptations; but, it is the SAME word! * God has much to say, through James, in a short space, regarding His and our relationship to the peirasmoi with which we meet. * This message was presented on September 24, 2023 by Bob Corbin.

Shiur given by Rabbi Bezalel Rudinsky on Parshas Beshalach. Shiur recorded in Yeshivas Ohr Reuven, Monsey, NY.
The Bible is very clear that you're sure I'm not speaking about Jesus of Nazareth, he is fully God, the eternal Son of God, there was never a time he did not exist. But in our study of Luke chapter two, we've been focusing in on the Incarnation, that is God taking upon himself human flesh. When you think of “inheritance” what comes to mind? For some reason, I think of a wealthy person who dies and everything that belongs to them gets passed down to blood relatives as a gift. It's theirs and they take it. Right? I'm currently taking a Dream Course and in passing Steven Maddox told a story about all his life God had been pointing him to work in film and be a writer and he kept denying it. Not believing that was his identity. Not believing that was for him. One day at church a man even came up to him and said he felt led by God to gift him this box FULL of nice camera equipment, like lots of it, expensive stuff, and he thought “this isn't for me.” So he gave it away. HE GAVE IT AWAY to someone else! Because he didn't think “it was for him” He gave away his “inheritance”, something God wanted him to have for free because He didn't think it was for him… Hang with me, this lines up too perfectly with this song my husband and I have had on repeat for a couple of months and I shared inside LEADING LADIES last week as we had a time of soaking, journaling, and hearing from the Lord on their partnership with HIm in their calling this month. Calling= the work they do to meet the needs of others. Here are some of the lyrics below and then I'll explain. It's called SOUND MIND by Melissa Helser, you should definitely take a listen… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVkwoi2ARhM There are sooooooooo many takeaways and things we could discuss from these lyrics but for today here's where we are headed. 2 Timothy 1:7 is a fairly common verse. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you power, love, and a SOUND MIND.” You've probably heard it multiple times, but what does SOUND MIND really mean? Well, I looked it up and about peed my pants!!! It comes from the Greek Word sopreneo, a compound word of sodzo and phreneo. sodzo- meaning saved or delivered. (on the verge of death but then was revived and resuscitated because new life was breathed into him) Something that is delivered, recused, revived, salvaged, protected and is now safe and secure. phrenoeo- intelligence or total frame of thinking including rationale, logic and emotions. Every part of the human mind, including all the processes that are engaged in making the mind function and come to conclusions. So think about those two definitions in light of fear. When we are operating in or under fear what does that do to every single part of us? What does that make us come into agreement with? How does that affect every single thought, feeling, action, decision, and result in our life? Now let's take this back to inheritance. What's been given to you, that is yours? It is NOT fear. It is power, love and a SOUND MIND. Are you giving that way because you “don't think you deserve it”?! So much of bringing heaven to earth and partnering in our authority in Jesus comes in our calling and stewarding that well starts with AGREEMENT and IDENTITY! Your IDENTITY in Jesus name is POWER, LOVE and SOUND MIND. Your IDENTITY is BLESSED. Your IDENTITY is just something you have to take and stop giving it away because you don't think it is for you. IT'S FOR YOU! This journey of revelation and identity of your True Self in light of Christ is just starting to heat up inside LEADING LADIES, this is a MOVEMENT and we are called to change the world by changing ourselves. I help God's Leading Ladies walking in the reality of wholeness now, without the fear of yesterday's limitations holding them back ever again. You in?!
