In this episode of The Daily Windup, I get real about what keeps Government contracting relationships for the long haul: truth first, fix fast, and operate with excellence. I share why I tell clients “bad news doesn't get better with time,” how a “six-month” award turned into 10 years of renewals through consistent delivery, and why we intentionally don't take 50 clients a year—because standing up a rock-solid back office takes time. We talk trusted-advisor dynamics, not sugarcoating financials, and the compounding effect of surrounding yourself with good people and good processes (good in → 10x out). Then I get tactical: the blocking-and-tackling that separates winners—SOPs, process mapping, segregation of duties, spend controls, card governance, bank-rec hygiene, and owner review. We cover role design (who spends vs. who reconciles), risk management, succession planning, and when bookkeeping must graduate to a true accounting function. If you're tired of chasing bids with no results, this is your cue to tighten systems, protect margins, and become the contractor agencies keep for a decade—not six months.

Today's Political and Religious Climates Harden Hearts of Many “Believers” Who Turn Away from God - Jesus Followers Are to and Can Help Those with Hardening Hearts MESSAGE SUMMARY: No matter the hardness of a person's heart, who has walked away from God, they will respond to your initiatives that are based on your love and trust. However, so many of us Christians are so focused on doing their religious or spiritual things and keeping to their “busy” schedules that they do not have time to love and care for the needs of other – physical and/or spiritual. Is there anything you can do for someone with a calloused heart or who has walked away from God because they were not discipled? Yes, you must start by praying for them – asking God to move in their lives; asking God to intervene in their life situations; asking God to break up the hardness of their heart. Also, you must build a better personal relationship, with this person, through your trust and caring love. In Mathew 18:12-13, Jesus presents God's perspective regarding the pursuit of even one person that has walked away: “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish." TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, to you I acknowledge that I don't want to go the way of powerlessness and humility. Like Peter, I want to know what you are doing with those around me. I love you. Help me to trust you with this day, with tomorrow, and with my whole life. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 92). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Compulsions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Patience. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). It's Christmastime, but don't get too excited for the merriment yet: college application stress looms over (nearly) everyone. Not Joey, of course, who's invited to a Yacht Club dinner for prospective students of Worthington University. She spends so much effort convincing Pacey to go that she completely forgets how much she clenches up any time she's near a cloth napkin or multi-fork table setting, and recedes into the background as Pacey charms the alumni rep. As for everyone else: Dawson watches Mr. Brooks's last movie, Turn Away, My Sweet and is blown away (my sweet) -- so much so, perhaps, that when he has to write his essay for his application to USC film school, he's only able to write around the prompt question of why he wants to be a filmmaker. Jack finishes all his applications and is concerned about the very vague answers Jen's giving about hers -- and about the silent treatment Grams is STILL giving her after the rave fiasco. Gretchen learns that the Leery Christmas parties she loved have a kid have been suspended in her absence the last few years due to...well, divorce; she convinces the Leerys to let her throw one at the house, which conveniently lets everyone use it to hash out their issues -- even Grams and Mr. Brooks! Hello to you listening in Thornton, Colorado!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds (and a bit more) for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga.Evildoing, like coercive power, depends on the cooperation, obedience, support, assent or at least passive tolerance of many people. If you passively tolerate evildoing - or turn your face away - you are as much involved in it as the ones who perpetrate it. When you tolerate evildoing without protesting, you are cooperating, you are an accomplice. One who chose not to cooperate was Daniel Ellsberg, American military analyst and whistleblower, who saw clearly what had been going on with the 40 years of war in Vietnam. He chose to copy and then release over 7,000 pages of what became known as The Pentagon Papers. He exposed the long-running scandalous history of the United States' political and military involvement in Vietnam from 1945 to 1968 and secretly expanding its involvement with the bombing of Cambodia and Laos.In 1971 then President Nixon filed suit to stop the NY Times and the Los Angeles Times from publishing the papers. He failed. The papers were published. Ellsberg himself was criminally indicted but charges were later dismissed. “As Judge Byrne in Los Angles was issuing his dismissal of the indictment against Daniel Ellsberg, Nixon expressed his outrage and sense of betrayal: “ ..., on this national security thing, we have the rocky situation where the sonofabitch thief is made a national hero and is going to get off on a mistrial. And the New York Times gets a Pulitzer Prize for stealing documents ....They're trying to get at us with thieves. What in the name of God have we come to?” [SECRETS - A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers by Daniel Ellsberg, pub. 2002, pp. 456 to 457] What we had come back to was a democratic republic - not an elected monarchy - a government under law, with Congress, the courts, and the press functioning to curtail executive abuses, as our Constitution envisioned. Moreover, for the first time in this or any country the legislature was casting its whole vote against an ongoing presidential war. It was reclaiming, through its control of the purse, the war power it had fecklessly delegated nine years earlier. Congress was stopping the bombing, and the war was going to end.” [SECRETS - A Memoir of Vietnam and the Pentagon Papers by Daniel Ellsberg, pub. 2002, pp. 456 to 457] 40 years of war ends - and Watergate is not far behind - scuttling Nixon's presidency.Individuals who choose to call evildoing what it is, who choose to withdraw their cooperation, ignite organized non-cooperation. That is where we are. We the People - an Army of Ordinary People - have ignited organized non-cooperation. We the People are fighting back and we're bringing our friends to topple the evildoing in the White House. Thank you for listening and fighting alongside us for democracy! HAPPY SUNDAY FRIENDS! I'm SO expectant for what God's about to do through this convo today!
Bongani Bingwa speaks to Commissioner Sandra Makoasha from the South African Human Rights Commission as troubling reports surface of foreign nationals being denied care at local clinics. Pregnant women turned away, the sick left untreated, all because they don’t have documentation. Despite Section 27 of the Constitution guaranteeing emergency medical care for everyone, some clinics have become flashpoints of xenophobia and frustration. With groups like Operation Dudula fanning tensions, we ask: is this a case of a strained system or are migrants becoming the scapegoats for deeper failures? Bongani makes sense of the news, interviews the key newsmakers of the day, and holds those in power to account on your behalf. How Do I Repent?Ezekiel 18:30 " Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, all of you according to your ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise, iniquity will be your ruin.”This first sentence is letting us know that we will be judged based on our own actions. At one time, it was believed that we would be judged based on the actions of our ancestors. This verse corrects this thought. When I looked up this verse on the Enduring Word Commentary, it said, “The error in believing in communal or family salvation or damnation is so serious and dangerous that God unmistakably emphasized the individual's responsibility before God.“It may be true that in my physical being I have inherited tendencies to some forms of evil from my father, but in the fact of my essential relation to God, there are forces available to me more and mightier than all these tendencies. Neither righteousness nor evil is hereditary.” (Morgan)This is important for each of us to understand. We are not bad because our parents were bad. We are not good because our parents are good. We are responsible for our own actions. This is good news. This means we don't have anyone to blame but ourselves. This also means all the responsibility falls on our own shoulders. I want to take a minute to look at one line in particular in the Enduring Word Commentary. It said, “In the fact of my essential relation to God, there are forces available to me more and mightier than all those tendencies we might have inherited.” In other words, we don't have to do this on our own. Even though we will be judged on our actions, we don't have to have the strength to make the right choices all on our own.Because we are children of God, we can call on Him to give us strength and to help us make the right choices. The second part of the verse above says to repent and turn from all your transgressions. The verse I discussed in yesterday's episode told us to repent and return to the Lord. Today's verse is telling us to repent and turn away from our transgressions. When I was trying to think about what to talk about in this episode it dawned on me that we might not all know how to repent. Repent is one of those words that we all kinda know what it means but we don't necessarily know how to define it or how to do it. Repentance is more than just saying “I'm sorry.” It's a heartfelt turning away from sin and turning toward God. Here's a biblical and practical step-by-step understanding of how one repents:1. Recognize the SinRepentance begins with awareness. We often live unaware of how our choices, attitudes, or habits go against God's will.Ask God for clarity. Sin can be obvious (like lying or cheating) or subtle (like pride, bitterness, or fear that blocks faith). Ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart.Listen with humility. Sometimes God uses other people, Scripture, or conviction during prayer to expose what needs to change.Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting.”Reflection prompt: Where in my life am I resisting God's way? What attitudes, habits, or relationships might be leading me away from Him?2. Feel Godly Sorrow (Not Just Guilt)This isn't about shame. It's about recognizing how our sin hurts our relationship with God and others, and it grieves us deeply—not just because of consequences, but because of love.Worldly sorrow says, “I'm sorry I got caught or hurt someone.”Godly sorrow says, “I've grieved the heart of the One who loves me most. I want to be changed.”2 Corinthians 7:10 “ For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.”Reflection prompt: Do I feel sorrow because of what my sin cost, or just because it was exposed?3. Confess the Sin to GodConfession is honest communication with God. It's naming the sin and agreeing with Him about its seriousness, without hiding or blaming.Openly admit your sin to God in prayer. Be specific and honest. No excuses or blaming.“God, I've been dishonest in my work,” or “I've held unforgiveness toward ___."Confession is not groveling—it's returning to a loving Father who already knows and still welcomes you.1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”Reflection prompt: What do I need to confess out loud to God today, trusting in His mercy?4. Turn Away from the Sin (Change Direction)This is the literal meaning of repentance: to turn. It means letting go of the old and moving toward a new way of living.Make a conscious decision to change direction. You may need to delete contacts, change your routine, stop certain conversations, or set up boundaries. This part is hard—but repentance without change is just regret.Acts 3:19 “Repent therefore, and turn to God so that your sins may be wiped out,”Reflection prompt: What do I need to let go of today so I can move toward God?5. Turn Toward God (Restore Relationship)Repentance isn't just about stopping sin—it's about renewing intimacy with God. When we turn from sin, we turn to grace, peace, purpose, and healing.Pray, even if you feel unworthy. God is not holding your sin against you—He's welcoming you home.Dive into Scripture, worship, community, and His promises.James 4:8a “ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”Reflection prompt: How is God inviting me to return to Him—not in fear, but in love?6. Bear Fruit That Shows RepentanceThis is the outward evidence of an inward change. You don't earn God's love by being good—but real repentance produces visible fruit.Fruit might look like changed speech, different choices, seeking reconciliation, or serving others with a humble heart. This fruit grows over time—don't rush it. Stay connected to God and He'll transform you.Matthew 3:8 — “Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.”Reflection prompt: What new actions or habits is God inviting me to develop that reflect a changed heart?Summary: True Repentance Involves…Head (Recognizing the wrong) Heart (Feeling sorrow over it) Hands & Feet (Turning around and walking in a new direction)Repentance is not about being perfect—it's about being real before God. It's how you return home to His love, over and over again. He's not angry; He's ready to embrace you.Luke 15:20 “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.”Dear heavenly Father, I ask you to bless all those listening. Lord, help us to understand repentance more. Move our hearts and show us where we need to repent. Show us where we have sin in our hearts and in our habits. Please help us to recognize sin in our lives and to repent and turn back to you. Please help us to repent and turn away from that sin. Give us the strength to ask you to show us the sin in our lives and the courage to change our habits so that we can walk away from that sin. We love you, Lord, and we ask all of this in accordance with your will and in Jesus's holy name, Amen!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. Today's episode was an example of what I teach in mentoring. Tonight I will go deeper and give more detail into each one of those six steps to repentance. At the end of each mentoring session, I give 2-3 reflection questions to help us stop, talk to the Lord, and really reflect on what we just learned and how it relates to us personally. We look at how we can use what we just learned to make lasting changes in our lives. I invite each one of you to join the mentoring tonight. Welcome to Day 2520 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2520 – Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 37:8-15 – Daily Wisdom Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2520 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2520 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. In today's Wisdom Nugget, we continue our journey through Psalm 37, focusing on verses 8 through 15 from the New Living Translation. This section builds on David's earlier reflections about trusting God and avoiding envy of the wicked, providing practical guidance for living in peace and trusting in God's justice. Let's begin by reading Psalm 37:8-15 together: Psalm 37:8-15 (NLT) 8 Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm. 9 For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. 10 Soon the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone. 11 The lowly will possess the land and will live in peace and prosperity. 12 The wicked plot against the godly; they snarl at them in defiance. 13 But the Lord just laughs, for He sees their day of judgment coming. 14 The wicked draw their swords and string their bows to kill the poor and the oppressed, to slaughter those who do right. 15 But their swords will stab their own hearts, and their bows will be broken. Turn Away from Anger (Verse 8): David begins this section with a strong admonition: “Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm.” Here, David addresses a natural human response to injustice—anger. When we see wickedness thriving or experience wrongdoing, it's easy to let frustration and rage take over. However, David warns against letting anger control us because it leads to harm. Anger, when unchecked, can cause us to act impulsively or make decisions that go against God's will. It can disrupt our peace, damage relationships, and even hinder our ability to trust God's justice. Instead, David encourages us to let go of our anger and trust that God will handle the situation. This verse is a reminder to guard our hearts and minds when we encounter situations that provoke us. Anger itself isn't sinful—it's a natural emotion—but how we respond to it matters. By turning to God in prayer and seeking His perspective, we can release our anger and avoid the harm it might otherwise cause. Trust in God's Justice (Verses 9-10): In verses 9 and 10, David contrasts the fate of the wicked with the hope of those who trust in the Lord: “For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the Lord will possess the land. Soon, the wicked will disappear. Though you look for them, they will be gone.” These verses emphasize the temporary nature of the wicked's success. While it may seem like they're thriving now, their time is limited. God's justice ensures that evil will not endure. On the other hand, those who trust in the...
