God in the Everyday–Fr Mike Delaney–God of Big Dreams (Recently a favourite passage of Scripture was part of our Sunday Scripture readings – Isaiah 55: 10-11. As the passage ends the Lord says – ‘the word that goes from my mouth does not return to me empty, without carrying out my will and succeeding in what it was sent to do'. As I reflected on the passage in preparation for my homily that weekend, I recalled a Worship Song I'd heard recently which had stuck in my mind – I've asked Jude whether he might be able to play it after this God Spot – God of Big Dreams by Jenn Bostic. Some time back I spoke about the challenge to pray for a greater response by the Church to becoming Missionary Disciples. Today I'd like to suggest another Big Hairy Audacious Goal and it comes from the Priestly Prayer of Jesus from John 17: 21 – ‘May they all be one. Father, may they be one in us, as you are in me and I am in you, so that the world will believe it was you who sent me.' This is especially important because this Podcast is played across over 30 Christian Radio Stations throughout Australia whose aim is to spread the Gospel message far and wide. As the passage ends the Lord says – ‘the word that goes from my mouth does not return to me empty, without carrying out my will and succeeding in what it was sent to do'.)

Paul discusses his beginning in Chicago, his career in Nashville, his favorite artists and music...
Today’s guest is a Grammy-nominated songwriter, producer, artist, and record label executive. Her journey into music began at the age of five when she found a piano buried in the garden at her parents’ house in South London. By the age of 19, she was recording her own songs, and soon after, she signed her first publishing deal with Allen Jacobs at EMI. And at 22, she signed a record deal at Mercury Records (with Tom Vickers and Ed Eckstine), relocated to Los Angeles, and started work on her first album. Her debut album self-titled garnered her a nomination for Best New Artist at the 1994 American Music Awards. Her single “The Color of the Night” was a top 10 hit on Adult Contemporary radio and also landed her a nomination for Best Song in a Motion Picture at the Golden Globes. As she started a family, she reinvented herself as the co-creator of The Matrix. Alongside creative partners Graham Edwards and Scott Spock, the trio wrote and produced Avril Lavigne’s worldwide phenomenon album ‘Let Go’ which included three international No. 1 hits: “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi,” and “I’m With You”. For “Complicated,” the Matrix trio won the Ivor Novello Award for International Hit of The Year. The Matrix also received seven Grammy nominations including Producer of the Year (she is one of 7 women to ever be nominated). She is also a two-time Juno Award winner and a BMI Songwriter of the Year Award recipient. The Matrix has sold more than 30 million records and has worked with artists including Avril Lavigne, Jason Mraz, Shakira, Liz Phair, Korn, David Bowie, Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Greyson Chance among many others. Her independent work includes Enrique Iglesias’s worldwide No. 1 hit “Tonight I’m Loving You,” as well as songs with Kelly Clarkson, Jason Derulo, Bebe Rexha, Iggy Azalea, Avril Lavigne, The Struts, and more. Recently she started her record label, Youth Be Served Records (YBS Records). The first signing is artist Jenn Bostic, whose ‘Take My Hand EP’ entered the iTunes Christian chart at No. 11. And her second signing is Australian artist Tassia Zappia, who is in the studio now with an expected release during 2020. And The Writer Is...Lauren Christy! This episode is sponsored by BMI.Art: Michael Richey White See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

July 21, 2015 | By Curtis Killian Behind the Song "Counterfeit" with #BerkleeAlumni Jenn Bostic: "Counterfeit is a song of deceit, uncovering the true colors of someone or something that has misinterpreted the truth. Whether it be a lover or a negative voice in your mind, it’s wrapped in beautiful clothing, slowly pulling you into its lie. It’s important to silence those voices and follow your heart’s desire. "Watching this song come to life was an incredible experience. Lauren Christy and I wrote it during our first writing session at her home in Los Angeles. Two songs from the album were written that day, the other being Hurting Me, Hurting You. Every once in awhile there an indescribably synergy that happens in a cowrite, and the songs seem to write themselves. That was one of those days. Lauren’s brother Brandon Christy and Paul Wiltshire produced the track, and I’ll never forget the first time I listened to the rough mix, I had tears streaming down my face. They had truly exceeded all my expectations in the production of the song. Filming the music video was also surreal. Director, Jeremy Rush, who also directed Not Yet, put together an amazing crew of people and we filmed the video in one day. I fell in love with the creative treatment and again the execution exceeded any expectations I had. It truly is a blessing to work with talented and passionate friends." Words & Music by Jenn Bostic & Lauren Christy Produced by Brandon Christy & Paul Wiltshire Executive Producer Lauren Christy
"Jealous of the Angels," was written for my dad. He passed away in a tragic car accident when I was ten years old. Music and songwriting became the only forms of therapy that truly allowed me to express my emotions. I have written multiple songs on this subject, but it wasn't until fourteen years after his death that we (cowriters Zach Runquist and Jimmy Fortune) created something that represented everything I felt. I remember saying that night that my one wish was to know that he was smiling down on me and that he was proud of me. That night I prayed. I prayed every night for two months that God would give me some sort of sign that my dad was smiling down on me. I didn't tell anyone what I was praying for, but I was believing God for a selfish answer. On Christmas Eve that year, my best friend in the world, who has been with me through everything, called me from Oregon at 7:15 in the morning to tell me about a dream she had had the night before. She said my dad was in her dream and said, "Please tell Jenn I'm so proud of her and that I'm at every one of her shows.I share this story whenever I perform "Jealous of the Angels." It is a huge part of my testimony. As I began sharing it inspired others to tell me there stories. Soon I was receiving emails and facebook messages from strangers telling me their intimate stories about loss and how much my song had spoken to them. The stories have not only been an affirmation that God is at work through the song, but they are healing and comforting to me as well.
