Stop Over-drinking and Start Living

My husband and I went to NYC for the weekend and a theme emerged, ASSUMPTIONS. So many assumptions happened for both of us and one involving a complete stranger. Our mind likes to make assumptions to save us energy and time. An assumption is a thing that is accepted as true or as certain to happen, without proof. Tune in and hear 3 completely different stories on assumptions, from brunch to a phone charger to a stranger yelling at us in Central Park. What assumptions are you making about other people that are HURTING YOU? Like, 'they are excluding me.' What assumptions are you making about alcohol that isn't serving you? Like 'if I don't drink, it will be boring.' Assumptions can help you or hurt you. If you find out you were wrong for assuming something, can you learn from this, let it go, or laugh instead of getting angry or blaming your assumption on someone else? I'd love to hear what assumptions you make that you have found out aren't true. Daring to sound cliché... but I'm pretty sure you've heard phrases like, "Think about what you are thinking about," and "Our thoughts become our beliefs, and our beliefs become our action." But have you ever had someone call out your mental blind spots?Do you know what mental traps might be impacting your effectiveness as a leader? Would you be able to recognize them yourself? In this episode, Ramona and her guest and fellow Leadership Coach, Cayla Horey share examples of situations when a leader's internal dialogue was about to trip them up but a coaching conversation cleared the path for a more effective leadership experience.Cayla explains that our brains offer us constant streams of thoughts, and we have a natural tendency to simply accept and believe those thoughts as truth. However, these unchallenged narratives can lead us down unproductive paths, causing us to make decisions or take actions that can ultimately hurt our teams and organizations. This episode demonstrates how replacing limiting mindsets with more empowering ones that are as equally true, can unlock dramatically better outcomes for you as a leader. If you are interested in developing a keen sense of self-awareness and identifying mental blind spots then this episode is for you.Check it out here.Or watch it on YouTube here.— RESOURCES MENTIONED —Cayla Horey's website: https://caylahorey.com/Connect with Cayla on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cayla-horey-a4ab661b1/Learn how to turn your 1-on-1 meetings from time wasters, awkward moments, status updates, or non-existent into your most important and valuable meeting with your directs all week. The one person you spend more time with than anyone else is yourself. So, it's no surprise that your internal dialogue with yourself is also more crucial than any other conversation you could have. In my coaching sessions, I often discover that my clients' internal conversations are the stumbling blocks for their career success. For example, without evidence, they've convinced themselves that giving direct feedback will lead to being disliked by their direct reports or that holding their team accountable might brand them as a micromanager. But here's the truth: these worries are often more unfounded than valid. The reality often differs from the fears our internal dialogues present. In this episode, I will share the most common unfounded worries about leadership and provide insights to help you reframe those doubts, empowering you to move forward more confidently in your leadership role. Emotional labor, it's that game face we put on when we have doubts, worries, or fears, but others expect confidence from us. Let's face it, that can be exhausting and draining. Today we are talking about Benefit #3 for why hiring an Accountability coach is of value to you, which is that They can help you break free of limited beliefs.  One of the main reasons people fail in business is because they allow their limited beliefs to stifle their success.  This not only applies to your business, but your personal life as well.  We all have limiting beliefs to some extent; the goal is to identify those limiting beliefs and shatter them.  You will only ever be as successful as your beliefs allow you to be.  An Accountability Coach will help you see how your own belief system has been preventing you from realizing your full potential and achieving your goals.  With firm guidance, an Accountability Coach will assist you in identifying each limiting belief and show you how it is directly affecting your results (or lack thereof).  You will be pushed outside your comfort zone, but this is the only way to build your business and your success.  When you overcome inhibitions and learn to believe in your ability to succeed, you'll learn how to increase sales and revenue, exceed goals, and build an even better business – maybe even one you never thought possible. Download my Guidebook, Are Your Beliefs Helping You or Hurting You?, by going to http://bit.ly/Helping-Beliefs. 80% of success is mindset and 20% is strategy! 95% of our thoughts are the same each day, and on average, 80% of our thoughts are negative!  Tune in tomorrow for Benefit #4 on why hiring an Accountability coach is of value to you professionally and personally.  For more help with growing your business and accelerating your results, reach out to me today and schedule your complimentary consultation. Subscribe to my high-value proven business success tips and resources Blog (https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/blog/)  Take advantage of all the complimentary business tips and tools by joining the Free Silver Membership on https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/coaching-store/inner-circle-store/.  Want more from The Accountability Coach™, subscribe to more high-value content by looking for me on https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/my-podcast/ and on most podcast platforms and in most English-speaking countries, or by going to https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/accountabilitycoach.com/id290547573.  Go to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com to check out for yourself how I, as your Accountability Coach™, can help you get and stay focused on you highest payoff activities that put you in the highest probability position to achieve your professional and personal goals, so you can enjoy the kind of business and life you truly want and deserve.  As an experienced accountability coach and author of 5 books, I help business professionals make more money, work less, and enjoy even better work life balance. Check out my proven business accelerator resources by going to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/coaching-store/.  Aim for what you want each and every day!  Anne BachrachThe Accountability Coach™ If you get value from these Accountability Minutes, please take a minute to leave me a short r

These people oftentimes are your friends or family, the people you love the most, so it hurts that there is no understanding or reciprocity in the relationship.  Here's the list of episodes related to today's discussion, and we highly recommend listening to them as well:#132 | Who Are You Letting Into Your Space? - http://bit.ly/3wapOPo #158 | Is Your Environment Helping or Hurting You? - https://apple.co/3Lnr62t _________________Connect with Emilia, Bianca & the EVOLVE VENTURES Community:Website: www.evolveventurestech.com@EvolveVentures on Instagram@EvolveVenturesTech on Facebook (Public Page)Evolve Ventures Society (Private Facebook Group)@EvolvewithEmilia on Instagram / @Evolvewith Emilia on TikTok@EvolvewithBianca on InstagramConnect with Emilia & Bianca from Evolve Ventures for FREEShow notes:[0:00] Intro[2:05] "I just want what's best for you."[7:08] People are doing it for their own benefit, not yours[12:45] Who's in your life, and why are they in your life?[17:15] People celebrate you until what you do negatively impacts them[19:30] "Misery loves company. Welcome to Mad.In.Love! Today we will be discussing what narcissists misunderstand about love and joining me for this conversation is Dr. Les Carter, a therapist who specializes in anger management and narcissistic personality disorder, and host of the Surviving Narcissism podcast.Join us as we dive into the topic of narcissists and love – is it even possible for these two things to coincide? If you were to ask a narcissist if they love their spouse, partner, child, parent, etc. they would answer “yes, of course!” but is their idea of love really love, or is it their own twisted idea of love? A narcissist's idea of love revolves around being thought of highly, anything that makes them feel good, and having agreement and conformity.  None of these things have anything to do with real love.  We'll talk about the 5 levels of relationship and what healthy love looks like. The Mad.In.Love Podcast is hosted by Dr. David Hawkins, founder and director of the Emotional Abuse Institute and the Marriage Recovery Center, best-selling author, speaker and clinical psychologist for over 40 years.  Dr. Hawkins is recognized as an authority on the treatment of narcissism and emotional abuse within the context of relationships and has written over 30 books on recognizing and navigating toxic relationships, including “Dealing with the CrazyMakers in Your Life” and “When Loving Him is Hurting You.”  He is a speaker & trainer for the American Association of Christian Counselors, writes for Crosswalk.com, CBN.org, and Believe.com and has made regular appearances on Moody Radio and Faith Radio.  He and his team of trained experts offer online and in-person treatment programs for narcissistic and emotional abuse recovery. People-pleasing is the strong urge to please others even when they may be putting their own needs at risk. On this week's episode in the Growing Your Heart Centered Business Special Series, Kristina and Heather discuss their own patterns of people pleasing and ways that you can recognize when you slip into a people-pleasing role. In today's 5-Minute Drill, J.R. digs into a more effective alternative to affirmations. He's going to share a strategy that actually works when it comes to positive self-talk and affirmations as a way to increase confidence - because there's a big misconception about affirmations out there. Too many people are taking this wrong approach and actually hurting themselves mentally and emotionally more than helping. LET'S GET IT!  [00:01 - 06:17] Is Your Affirmation Helping or Hurting You? Backstory on a broken affirmation When you say an affirmation to yourself, but don't believe it, it's ineffective [06:18 - 09:24] What's the Drill? Step 1: Identify where you're lacking confidence. If you can dig into the exact feelings you're feeling, even better.   Step 2: Hit the recall button through visualization. If it helps you, get in a quiet place and close your eyes.  Think about all the times you felt this way…felt this lack of confidence before.  Start collecting mental notes of all the things you did to overcome it and move past it.  Are there any specific victories you had as a result?   Step 3: Create a Victories Vault Come out of your visualization and write it all down. WHENEVER you're in a place where you forgot how you've overcome these stretches and struggles in your life and career, you can pull up your vault to remind you of the character traits you have and the behaviors you did.   Step 4: Attach a TRUTH to your AFFIRMATION I am _______ (affirmation) because ________ (truth) [09:25 - 11:09] Wrapping Up!  What's coming up on the next episode  Final words  KEY QUOTES “Your affirmations are EMPTY without revelations of truth.” - J.R.   CONNECT WITH J.R. Dreamcatchers District Podcast - Mindset, Authentic Marketing, Coaching, Goals, Creative Entrepreneur, Online Business, Fear

Today on the Podcast, When Doubt is Helping or Hurting You. This week we’re talking how to dance with doubt SO THAT you can feel the feelings, love honor and accept where you are, and still turn all that distraction around before self-sabatage sets in and derails your best laid plans. Better yet? We're helping you discern which category of doubt (I believe there are 3) you may be facing off with at any given time. This way you can practice specific responses for each varying type as well as recognize if the hesitation you're feeling is warranting your slowing down OR the monkey brain trying to take you out. Turns out there's a significant difference between when our intuition is nudging, guiding, or leading us in one direction and when our doubt is holding on with iron hands to another direction, fighting for the status quo; desperate to keep us small, sidelined and "safe." And if you’re a fellow women in your 20s, 30s, or 40s ... Struggling to Wonder Woman your way through life as a multi-passionate creative, boss, wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, leader in your community, influencer online, expert in your field — than you, absolutely, know just what I’m talking about. Call it a quarter life crisis, 30s crisis, or midlife crisis — it’s a crisis not only of self-doubt but of the spirit and of skepticism in general. Time to take the lead, learn to dance with doubt, and stop spinning round n' round; waiting in the wings. If you've been catching yourself asking  … :: Am I good enough? :: Am I on the right path? :: Am I being true to who I really am? :: Am I trusting this? :: Am I trusting you?  Than this is DEFINITELY the episode for you. In this Episode We Talk About: • How to discern which doubt you're dealing with • Why you need to have more conviction for your hopes than your fears • When doubt can actually be a really good thing • What is the major difference between "sincerity" and "seriousness" • Why simple Pros & Cons lists are keeping you stuck • 3 Categories of Doubts + Practices for dancing with each • PLUS my own confessions around when and where I still feel doubt   If you've attended a live Dreamcatchers District event in LA, coached with me privately, been invited to one of our secret virtual masterclasses, or applied for an immersive planning retreat weekend and mastermind — then you already know how much dancing with doubt is a major practice to breakthrough blocks in our beliefs, body and business.  We don’t go it alone and we won’t let you “struggle solo” either. I don’t remember getting to a point where I felt like I had caught up and could safely do nothing. Even if I get caught up on the immediate needs like housework or work goals, there are always self-improvement or home-improvement projects, things I’ve been wanting to do with my family, career related study, etc. Every day it feels like I wake up behind in the race. That’s not to say I’m always doing something productive. But at the times I’m doing nothing productive, I’m choosing to do nothing over doing something, whether it’s because I’m exhausted or unmotivated or whatever. But I always have to actively decide to be unproductive over all the things I “should” be doing, and that usually comes with guilt. This is not healthy. Anybody have any books or talks or tips on how to change this mindset?” Of course, immediately he started getting responses.   These were not solutions, however, but affirmations that this was not just him, but so many of us that feel the same way.   It’s the allowing that is the flow of the river…and that’s how you get cruising. “I would love to flow like the river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.” John O’Donahue We have multiple areas of our lives that have to be assessed:   • Work/Finance • Family • Emotional/Spiritual • Personal Development • Physical • Social • Life Tasks   Those “life tasks” at the end are all of the housekeeping to-dos, repairs, errands, day-to-day life requirements that eat up a ton of time and energy.  Everyone dreams of a personal assistant because this one area alone could easily eat up your whole day, every day. So how do we keep from just having that feeling of overwhelm all the time? Six Tips to Eliminate Overwhelm Here are the biggies for me, to ensure you don’t feel behind all the time. 1: Prioritize Recommended Read: The One Thing by Gary Keller  (http://amzn.to/2xrsRSt) Stop multi-tasking and do one thing with excellence. It’s amazing what you can accomplish with that incredible focus   Create Your Priorities – look at what REALLY has to be done. Sometimes, we create a to-do list of so many things, and then we realize that it may not all be necessary. I’ve stressed out looking at a full day of errands, and the more I break it down, realize that there was only ONE of the many things on my to-do list that really needed to be done that day. Breaking it down into bite-size pieces and asking myself, “is it necessary at this moment?” Really helped.    2: Obliterate Obligation Okay, there is a time and place for obligation.  Sometimes going out of your way for someone you love is worth it to see the happiness on their face, even if it’s not your favorite thing.  Some obligation is okay.  But when obligation takes over, you can twist down into a spiral of people-pleasing that is a bottomless pit.  If you start to notice that everything you do all day is based on making someone else happy, it’s time to seriously check yourself.  You are not in charge of anyone else’s happiness – that is their’s to own.  Spread love, fill some buckets, but ensure you are looking at what is critical for you to move forward beyond just meeting everyone else’s needs.  My mother swears by the book “When Pleasing Others is Hurting You” (http://amzn.to/2xyfzJ2) 3: Underpromise, Overdeliver Be careful what you commit to, and ensure you can really follow through.  If you can’t show up on time, don’t say you can.  Don’t accept a project if your plate is already full.  Don’t commit to a deadline that is going to require you to forfeit eating and sleeping to meet it.   “I have a commitment”.  Don’t feel pressure to respond immediately - say “let me check my schedule and get back with you” so you aren’t making a decision under pressure.  It’s okay to say no - provide another resource so it’s not just no, but you offer a solution.   4: Wiggle Room Allow for wiggle room.  Don’t overcommit your day so there is no down time.  We all need rest and we need time to create, process, and think.  Don’t jam pack your day where it’s a marathon.  That is a sure-fire way to create burnout.  Don’t live for that one day when you can rest again.  Intentionally allow that down time every day so you aren’t running on fumes. On that whole “productive” concept.  Let me get one thing straight: Rest IS productive.   Don’t negate your down time. It’s critical to your health, both mentally and physically.  Give yourself grace to veg.   Recommended Read: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (http://amzn.to/2yy1Lhx)   Give your creativity a name and spend time with it.  Invite it into your life, and sit with it every day. Creating a Haven of Peace: When Your Feeling Down, Finances Are Flat, and Tempers Are Rising by Joanne Miller (http://amzn.to/2xpQyzv) This is Ashley’s family story written by her mother, with great insights in creating that haven of peace in your home.  5: Timeblock Schedule the fire out of your day. We’ve found flex time during the middle of the day is fine, but the morning and the evening have such a huge impact on how our days can get away from us. Do you want to be a human “being” or a human “doing”?   Recommended Read: The Power of Full Engagement by Jim Loehr.  This is such an incredible book to ensure you are really performing at your peak by being fully present in what you are doing at that moment. The bane of many entrepreneurs is our ability to work anytime we want…which means we are always working and doing “just one more thing.” Those “just one more things”: checking facebook, answering another email, doing one more edit, etc are all areas where the day can get away from us. Your “one thing” can take you down a four hour bunny trail. Schedule your work time, and your play time.  Do these with the same priority level.  My nightly date with Nathan is just as important as my podcast interview.  Don’t negate the importance of life beyond work.  We want to really live, not simply trudge through.  Enjoy this life, and make that a critical component of your day. 6: Bookend Your Day On that note, bookending our day has been huge. We prep our coffee in the evenings so it’s ready to go. Our family agrees on what we are going to have for breakfast so it’s no shock in the morning.  Nathan and I discuss the night before what we need to accomplish the next morning. Set your goals based on the feeling behind them, not just the lofty goal.  What is the emotion behind it all?   Recommended Read: The Fire Starter Sessions by Danielle LaPorte (http://amzn.to/2kxSjoi). This book rocked me with the concept of one thing: “What is the feeling behind the goal you set?” This is fabulous in writing or audio, and was a pivotal book in directing my life of travel.   Your Life Is Your Responsibility Like I’ve written so many times, we are in charge of our lives.  We have the power to create with intention, or live in reaction.   When we are consistent and stick to a schedule, we find we feel way more in control of our lives – living with intention and not just reacting as life passes us by. Care for some Q&A?  Hit us with any questions you have, and we’ll send you a personal email response back and may address it on a future podcast!  Simply email Ashley directly at Ashley@MamaSaysNamaste.com Share below what things help you gather your thoughts, or why you think this won’t work for you.  Let’s dive in!  If you are overwhelmed, the first step is to identify what is overwhelming, and then look for those little things you can do to move forward.  Share your thoughts in the comments below, and I’ll respond to every one.

Not so long ago, my after work routine looked like this: After a particularly grueling day, I’d sit on the couch and veg for hours, doing my solo version of “Netflix and chill,” which meant keeping company with a cold pint of ice cream. I knew the ice cream, and the sitting, were probably a bad idea, but I told myself this was my well-deserved “reward” for working so hard. Psychological researchers have a name for this phenomenon: it’s called “ego depletion.” The theory is that willpower is connected to a limited reserve of mental energy, and once you run out of that energy, you’re more likely to lose self-control. This theory would seem to perfectly explain my after-work indulgences. You can read the Nir and Far blog post on: The Way You Think About Willpower is Hurting You https://www.nirandfar.com/2016/11/the-way-you-think-about-willpower-is-hurting-you.html Nir & Far, a podcast about business, behaviour and the brain by Nir Eyal. July 21, 2015 | By Curtis Killian Behind the Song "Counterfeit" with #BerkleeAlumni Jenn Bostic: "Counterfeit is a song of deceit, uncovering the true colors of someone or something that has misinterpreted the truth. Whether it be a lover or a negative voice in your mind, it’s wrapped in beautiful clothing, slowly pulling you into its lie. It’s important to silence those voices and follow your heart’s desire. "Watching this song come to life was an incredible experience. Lauren Christy and I wrote it during our first writing session at her home in Los Angeles. Two songs from the album were written that day, the other being Hurting Me, Hurting You. Every once in awhile there an indescribably synergy that happens in a cowrite, and the songs seem to write themselves. That was one of those days. Lauren’s brother Brandon Christy and Paul Wiltshire produced the track, and I’ll never forget the first time I listened to the rough mix, I had tears streaming down my face. They had truly exceeded all my expectations in the production of the song. Filming the music video was also surreal. Director, Jeremy Rush, who also directed Not Yet, put together an amazing crew of people and we filmed the video in one day. I fell in love with the creative treatment and again the execution exceeded any expectations I had. It truly is a blessing to work with talented and passionate friends."
