The Mid•Point with Gabby Logan

Holly Tucker MBE sits down with Gabby this week to share her fascinating journey to the midpoint in life, and how she's using her mortality as a motivating force to ensure the next chapter is a healthy and purposeful one. The trailblazing entrepreneur and founder of Holly & Co has dedicated the last twenty years to championing small businesses, and especially, turning people's attention to the power of the female pound! We find out why her nickname is Holly Hurricane; what exactly a “marigold clause” is; and why doing things differently has been the one constant in Holly's life. She also talks about why guilt is a wasted emotion when it comes to juggling parenting with a successful career, and how women in midlife have an opportunity to reclaim themselves and own their power, both in business and in life. Just like Holly, this episode will leave you with a sense of belief, purpose, and power! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Holly Tucker is the Queen of small business. Over 20 years ago she co-founded Not On The High Street - one of the first online marketplaces to exist. She started the business in her 20s and she and her co-founder had to plead the local bank manager for a loan. Not On The High Street has since made over one billion pounds for small businesses on the platform. Holly stepped away from the company a few years back, and she's now launched Holly & Co - a marketplace founded by females, championing female founders and with female shoppers in mind. It's also an advice hub for entrepreneurs. I absolutely adored my conversation with Holly. We chatted about the importance of trusting your gut, how to find your purpose and the biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make when starting out.

Life and Soul by Emma Forbes

Today I am so excited to be joined by the mother of small businesses, Holly Tucker MBE. She's the creative mastermind behind one of my favourite online marketplaces, Not On The High Street and is now the founder of Holly & Co, a small business advice and inspiration platform. Holly is just about to release a brand new business book called Do What You Love, Love What You Do packed full of tips and skills any founder needs to help their business thrive. In this episode, we recount Holly's journey into the business world and discuss what an incredible rollercoaster she's been on since. We talk about what inspired her to start Not On The High Street, her top tips for starting a business (my favourite being that you have to be the ‘Duracell battery' of the company) and why running a small business can be the key to happiness. Holly undoubtedly brings colour to business and has brightened up a lot of small businesses during the pandemic. So whether you might be about to start a company or you're finding yourself in a business rut, I truly recommend you read her new business bible. It really is a book like no other. *** Life and Soul is hosted by Emma Forbes, produced by Georgie Rutherford and edited by Steve Campen. She's the founder of notonthehighstreet.com and Holly & Co, a small business advice and inspiration platform and she's also a podcaster and co-author of two best-selling business books as well as the brand new Do What You Love. Holly is a famously positive, colourful, fabulous force of nature, but life wasn't always so sunny - and a future in business was far from a shoo-in. She got an E in business studies at school, was divorced aged 23, battled a brain tumour, endured a near break down, and has found herself on the brink financially more than once. But now, Holly says: ‘these moments have taught me everything - and I'm sure that my future is built on the scaffolding of these failures.' In this episode, Holly and Helen talk about: ‘Hurricaine Holly' and the highs and lows of living at full pelt Divorce and a brain tumour diagnosis in her 20s Building a different relationship the next time around How a vegetable wreath saved her life Parenting and guilt Burnout versus the philosophy of Francis Bacon Pulling on the handbrake Trying to smell the roses (and go to Ibiza) Scars, vulnerability and the upside of imposter syndrome Why financial education is a feminist issue   Follow Holly on Instagram @hollytucker, on Twitter @notonthehighst or Facebook @hollytuckerandco and find out more about Do What You Love Follow Helen on social media @MsHelenRussell How To Be Sad, the book, is out now.
