On today's episode, Jess gets to sit down and talk with previous guest, Juli Bauer Roth of Paleomg, about how and why she changed her mind about having children. In Juli's previous episode (episode 116), she shared openly about how she and her husband made the decision to not have kids. Fast forward a few years later, and they have welcomed a beautiful baby girl into their family! We chat candidly and openly about Juli and her husbands decision to pursue a family, what conception was like, the real reals of pregnancy and delivery, and Juli's transition into motherhood. This episode is not only an honest look at motherhood, but a real insight into the beauty of changing your mind and holding "decisions" loosely. As always, this is meant to share one person's experience, and to offer a unique perspective on the world. We hope you enjoy Juli as much as we do! As always this is just us sharing our own unique experiences and is in no way meant as a commentary on YOUR unique life - we hope you enjoy our story

The NTA trains and certifies nutritional therapy practitioners and consultants with a nutritional foundation that emphasizes the body’s innate intelligence and bioindividuality. All of these people; we’re all birds of a feather because we all cannot stop talking shop. It doesn’t matter where we’re at. If it’s someone’s birthday; we just want to talk shop. And it’s my favorite thing ever. I love it so much. Because it’s just the landscape of business these days. It’s just changing so quickly, and it’s so fascinating. And what it means, really, if you want to boil it down, is there is just a heck of a lot of opportunity for everybody right now. And that is just really dang exciting. You get to essentially; it’s the world that I feel like is coming into reality is the world that my parents promised me growing up. And I’m sure everybody’s loving parents said the same thing. But it was; “You can do anything you want to do.” My parents told me that over and over again. And maybe not everybody hears that. But I did. I heard it a lot growing up. Welcome to another episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. I am Juli Bauer Roth, and thank you guys so much for listening. Today I have a very special guest. I’m so excited to have her on. I’ve been doing all this research finding out all the different things that Lisa Bilyeu is doing. So, thank you Lisa, for being on my podcast! Lisa Bilyeu: Oh, Juli, thank you so much for having me on. I’m super excited! Juli Bauer: It’s so cool. I first heard about you on Girls Gone WOD with Joy and Clare, and started looking you up then. And then got in contact with you. So it’s so cool to have you on, because I loved listening to you with Joy and Clare. You just have this beautiful voice that’s just dreamy to listen to. Lisa Bilyeu: {laughs} Juli Bauer: So where are you from, originally? Lisa Bilyeu: I’m from England. I was going to say, I think the accent fools people on the voice! {laughs} Juli Bauer: Yes, it’s just so pretty. {laughs} Lisa Bilyeu: Thank you! I’m from England. I’ve been living in the States for 15 years full time, and almost 17 years. But my husband loves the accent so much, that I’ve done everything I can to keep it! {laughs} Juli Bauer: Seriously. What brought you to the states? Lisa Bilyeu: I actually came over for a film making course. And it was a summer just program. I was only supposed to be here for two months. Day one, I walk into the film school, and there stands this very sexy, hot American guy. He asks me on a date about a month later. And both of us thought; this is going to be so much fun. For me, it’s a story to go back to England and tell all my friends that I had this summer fling with this really hot American guy. Juli Bauer: {laughs} Lisa Bilyeu: He just came out of a relationship where the girl went a little crazy, so he’s like; this is fantastic. She has to leave the country; she’s obligated to. I don’t have to worry about her going crazy. And I think it was kind of that mentality of both of us thinking we don’t have to put on any pretenses that when we went on our first date, it was literally like lightening and we spent every single moment after that together.

Welcome to another episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. I am your host tonight, and every other night. My name is Juli Bauer Roth, and I am the writer and creator of www.PaleOMG.com. Isn’t this such a fun, dramatic intro today? You know, I feel like I should introduce myself at some point in this podcast. And since we’re at episode, I don’t know, 60? 61? I don’t f*cking know. I thought I should introduce myself, you know? As I record this on my phone in the voice memos section of my phone; super fancy. I am in a king size bed in the St Julian Hotel in Boulder. Not half bad. I was planning to record this podcast yesterday on a Sunday. And you know what happened? I got hella wasted. And if you’ve listened to any of these podcasts before, you know I’m not a huge drinker. I’m a one cocktail kind of person; maybe two if I’m really feeling crazy that night. But multiple cocktails; no. But here’s the thing. It was 90s night at Ophelia’s in Denver, which is a great restaurant. And I went to 90s night last year, and it was pretty much the best night ever. And they played all the straight hits. Brittany Spears, N’Sync, Backstreet Boys, Chumbawumba. All my god. All 90s. You knew all the words. So, I was very on the 90s train when I found out they had another 90s night planned. And last time, I don’t think I even drank. I think I had one drink and then I stayed on the dance floor the whole rest of the time. But this time around I brought one of my girlfriends, who didn’t know this other group of girls. And she, of course, was probably nervous. Because you're going into a whole group of people you don’t know. So we had cocktails together beforehand. And then she would go get two cocktails, and then I would get two cocktails. And then she was getting doubles so we didn’t have to go back to the bar. And it was just; it was a sh*t show. This time around, they played a little bit more like Nirvana; no thank you. That’s not why I go to 90s night. I’m not trying to listen to Nirvana. I’m trying to listen to Brittany Spears, you dick. But you know what? I made the best of it. And I danced so hard. I just got a Fitbit, so I’ve been seeing how many steps I usually take. And on a day that I don’t workout, it’s probably like 10,000 to 12,000.
On Episode 3, I get to interview New York Times Best Selling Author and Founder of the Paleomg.com Blog, Juli Bauer Roth. Juli started her blog on a whim in 2011 and has turned that opportunity into hundreds upon hundreds of recipes online, 3 Cookbooks, extended that into Fashion and Fitness, and has a massive following (and growing) online. She has a great personality and sense of humor and we touch on a variety of topics about being who you are, putting in the hard work, and balancing life.Juli can be found all over online like Instagram @Paleomg and everything funnels back to her website where it all began, http://www.paleomg.comAbout the Host:It’s hard to write these things about yourself but I’m just a very curious guy that wants to learn as much as I can about the world and the people in it. With a new found motivation many years ago to achieve certain goals and push beyond status quo, I wanted to speak with people that were breaking out of their comfort zones and try to capture how they were doing it and what insight could be shared to help others. Juli Bauer: Well, hello from my couch. I am Juli Bauer Roth. Welcome to the 50th episode. That’s five-zero. Episode of PaleOMG Uncensored. If you’ve been here from the beginning, way to go. I don’t know how you’ve lasted this long with me. I really don’t. Especially with my yawning. I’m about to yawn just thinking about; ugh, I can’t. Oh my god. How. How is it possible? I just think about yawning and then I start yawning. And then you're worried you're going to yawn. It’s kind of like sweating. If you're a person who profusely sweats, like me. And you’re like; oh my god. I don’t want to sweat through this T-shirt, whatever. I’m going to something important, I don’t want to sweat through this dress. And as soon as you think about how you're going to sweat through something, you do. So I’m yawning. I hate myself. I literally hate myself. I’m going to get some water. It’s so great when I have someone else I’m recording with, because I actually don’t yawn. If you listened to last week’s episode with Cassy, not one. Not one yawn in there, ok? That was pretty f*cking rad. And isn’t she the best? She’s so freaking cool. I’m trying to schedule some new interviews with some kind of random people. A food person, a workout person, and they’re dudes. So hopefully that comes to fruition. Because I’ve only had one other dude in here; the owner of my gym. And he’s traveling the world right now with his girlfriend or something, so I don’t see him anymore. F*cking turd bucket. Anyways. I’m going to have some other dudes on the podcast, so stay tuned for that. That will be quite fun. I am getting excited, because I leave for Lake Powell soon. I’ve got a few more days. We leave during the middle of the week next week. And we’re driving out there, and we’re actually staying in a hotel. Which we’ve never done. We’ve always stayed in a houseboat. But, our friend’s houseboat that we went on last year. The first two years, it was like a group of 27, and we rented a houseboat. And then the third year I went, it was on my friend’s houseboat. And then get this; sorry I was thinking about yawning again. I hate. I can’t. I f*cking can’t. Ok, so get this. So, he hires a company to take the houseboat out for the season, and they call them, and I’m kind of rounding out the story. There’s a longer story to it. But they call him, and they’re like, “There’s something wrong with your houseboat. You should check it out.” So I think he drives out there, checks it out. All of the cabinets, like in the kitchen, are all on the floor. Like they have fallen off the side of the boat. So obviously the boat had been dropped as they’re pulling it out. And they won’t admit to it. And you have nobody else to turn to, because it’s f*cking Lake Powell. I don’t know if you’ve been to Lake Powell, but there isn’t a lot going on out there. And I’m judging right now, but the people who are out there don’t give a f*ck. They’re like; hey, we already got your money. I don’t care. So they’re not fixing anything. It’s been like 2 years now of it not getting fixed. It’s just a total pain,

My name is Juli Bauer Roth, and I am the creator of www.PaleOMG.com. I feel like I should introduce myself every episode, but I always forget. So if you're starting from here, it’s your lucky day. If you started from any of the other probably 42 episodes out there, then you don’t know who the hell is speaking to you. But today, I’m here for you. www.PaleOMG.com. That’s where I came from. This is where I am now. While I was on book tour, a woman asked me to start a podcast, and I did it. So she better f*cking listen. She was like, oh yeah it will be fun to listen to Juli! And then I started a podcast, and she was like, what the f*ck is she talking about? But you know what, every week is different. I like to change it up on you guys. Sometimes, I like to talk about weird sexual encounters with my girlfriends, and other times I like to talk about paleo. Don’t let the PaleOMG part of my name throw you off. There’s all kinds of different information here on this podcast. But today it’s just me by my lonesome. Last week, I was in Austin. Which is why I recorded with three of my closest girlfriends, who are all bloggers, as well. And we talked about nothing of importance, but it was wonderful. Because who doesn’t like just chatting with girlfriends. It’s not really fun listening to people chatting with girlfriends, but it was for us. It was good for us. So I was in Austin last week. The amazing people behind Siete Foods, which is a grain free tortilla and tortilla chip company. And I’m hoping they expand to 20-hundred other items on their list. Because they have the best tortillas and the best tortilla chips out there. So addictive. And they’re totally grain free. They’re not filled with weird sh*t. Or fillers. Or if you have issues with corn, they don’t use corn. So it’s just really rad. So anyways. They brought us out to Austin, and got us in an AirBNB. And it was a thank you for always supporting them. They’re just such an awesome family. It’s a family-run business. They f*cking rock. They live in Austin, which I’m jealous of. Except it was 4 million degrees there. And we had all these big plans of doing things, and then it was just too hot to do any of them. So all we did was eat until we were uncomfortable, and then sit and talk about business. Which is wonderful. Because none of us; Lexi, because she’s on the East Coast, she has a few more friends who are in the blogging arena. But the rest of us, we’re kind of on the outside. I don’t have a ton of friends, especially in my specific business. I know some in the fashion. I know some strict in paleo. But I don’t hang out with them regularly. So it’s nice to talk to close girlfriends who are open about their bus...

I always believed calories in-calories out when it came to weight loss and weight management. But after competing in CrossFit, limiting my caloric intake, and working out multiple times per day - I finally figured out that was not the case. My body was inflamed and yearning for more carbohydrates and less exercise. But I was too addicted to exercise to see the full picture. My workouts began to suffer and my body continued to progress into a constant state of stress. There was no recovery in my life and my body began to show it. It wasn't until I gave up competing, gave in to more rest days and started feeding my body properly that I began to see results. I slept longer at night, I slowly began to lose weight and the inflammation in my body reduced, I listened to what exactly my body was craving and ate those things, and I became a much MUCH happier person. I had no balance in my life for so many years. I would either completely limit my food intake or eat everything in sight. I would not workout at all or workout multiple times per day. I would completely hate everything about myself and constantly talk down to myself instead of putting good energy out into the world. It was a really negative times, that lasted for about 24 years. I'm saying all this because I see so many other people go through it as well. Thinking they need to starve themselves or just workout more instead of looking at the big picture: workout regularly, take rest days, eat well, stress less, sleep more, and be kind to yourself. It's amazing how much your body will thank you when you follow those few things. If you guys have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below. And if you have any recommendations for podcast topics, feel free to leave them in the comment section below or reach out to me on social media. I put this podcast together for you guys so I'm here to share whatever you want to hear about! Next week, I'll be covering paleo on a budget! Episode 3 Links: Find out more about Crossfit here My Ever Changing Viewpoint on Paleo and CrossFit My Weight Loss Journey Over the Last 3 Years Before and After Photos Gluten Free Canyon Bakehouse Bread Listen to episodes 1 and 2 here! Episode 3 Transcription: Juli Bauer: Hello! Hello everyone out there. Welcome to the PaleOMG Uncensored podcast. I feel as though I need to start introducing myself, since I haven’t done that in the past two. I’m just really getting my shoes on; getting going. Whatever the hell that means. Last week, I had a bunch of you, thankfully, let me know that I suck and I need to suck less by writing down kind of an overview of what my topic is going to be so I don’t get lost. Because I tend to do that. But I will get lost, even though I have an awesome overview planned out; I’m just letting you know ahead of time. Anywho. Today we are going to be talking about exercise and over-exercise. Ooh, what a fun topic. I have done both in my life, so I want to kind of tell my story about that. I always thought calories in, calories out. So if I was eating a certain amount of calories, the more I worked out, the more weight I would lose, or the more muscle definition I would see. I always had this kind of belief in that. But we’ll get into that in a little bit. I want to talk about kind of my history with exercise. If you’ve seen my Instagram or my blog, every Monday I post what I did, when my rest days were. I also share once in a while what I ate in a day, and I give you free travel workouts and on-sale fitness apparel and new workout music, and sometimes I kind of just talk about motivational stuff; what’s kept me motivated and excited about exercise in the end. So, I’m just going to talk all about that. You can always find more details on www.paleomg.com every Monday if you want to know details about more exercise. But first, let’s talk a little bit about history. Let’s go back in the books, guys. Of Juli Bauer; now Juli Bauer-Roth,
