What if the biggest impact of AI isn't replacing jobs, but quickly raising the bar for everyone? In this episode of Leader Generation, host Tessa Burg talks with serial entrepreneur and Corpora.ai CEO Mel Morris about AI in business and marketing. Mel brings decades of experience building and scaling tech companies—from his humble beginnings in data collection to leading King Digital, the force behind Candy Crush. He's now pioneering a new kind of AI-powered research engine—and he's got a lot to say about where we're heading next. Mel gets into the practical realities of AI: how it's shifting the competitive landscape, how it can (and should) be used to save time, and why understanding your unique value is more important than ever. He offers a refreshing perspective on how AI is helping lower-skilled individuals rise up and what that means for marketing teams trying to stand out in a sea of sameness. Whether you're just starting to explore AI or already knee-deep, this episode will challenge your assumptions and help you think more strategically about your tech stack and your value. Leader Generation is hosted by Tessa Burg and brought to you by Mod Op. About Mel Morris: Mel Morris is a visionary entrepreneur and the CEO and co-founder of Corpora.ai, a groundbreaking AI-driven research platform transforming how we harness research. With a deep passion for technology and its potential to transform industries, Mel now focuses on advancing AI to optimize research and decision-making. Hope Cochran, managing director at venture capital firm Madrona Venture Group in Seattle, was previously the chief financial officer of King Digital, the maker of Candy Crush and other hit mobile games. She led King through its initial public offering in 2014, and its $5.9 billion acquisition in early 2016 by Activision Blizzard. That gives her a unique perspective on Microsoft's deal this week to acquire video-game giant Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion. We also talk about Cochran's career, including her past role as the chief financial officer of Clearwire leading up to its $15 billion acquisition by Sprint; and her current role at Madrona investing in fintech and gaming companies, including Seattle-based VR gaming company Rec Room, where she's a board member. We also discuss her leadership role in the Onboarding Women group created by Madrona and several other Seattle-area businesses to increase the percentage of women on public company boards. Cochran herself is on the boards of public companies Hasbro MongoDB and NewRelic. Cochran majored in economics and music at Stanford, and she gave a fun and inspiring answer when asked to name the song that best represents her as an investor. Listen to the end of the show for that. More: Hope Cochran on The Room podcast and Madrona's Founded and Funded podcast. Editing and production by Curt Milton; Theme music by Daniel L.K. Caldwell. Mahan Tahvildari aka Mathematiker, führt das wikifolio "Videospiele". Wir hatten zwar erst vor wenigen Wochen darüber gesprochen. Doch in die Gamingbranche ist Bewegung gekommen: Take Two kauft Zynga. Oder GTA kauft Farmville. "Zynga ist einer der Marktführer im Bereich Mobile Gaming, vergleichbar King Digital und Candy Crush." Der Kaufpreis beträgt 12,7 Mrd. Dollar. "Das ist sehr viel. Activision Blizzard hatte für Candy Crush / King Digital vor fünf Jahren nur halb so viel bezahlt." Trotzdem kann sich die Übernahme rechnen. "Das ist eine sehr interessante Kooperation, die die beiden Unternehmen hier eingehen. Es stecken wichtige strategische Ziele dahinter: Der Trend zum Blockchain Gaming. Das ist sehr profitabel."

Riccardo Zacconi was the co-founder and CEO of King Digital Entertainment, the video game company that had quickly established itself as the world’s leading maker of casual games for mobile devices after the sensational success of its game “Candy Crush Saga.” He’s faced with the central question of whether and how to scale the company through an astronomical period of growth. Harvard Business School professor Jeffrey Rayport discusses whether a single creative studio can scale to manage a portfolio of almost 200 games, when one of them is the mammoth hit Candy Crush.
Can you believe that the Candy Crush game is already 5 years old? Some 2.7 billion downloads later, Riccardo Zacconi, the CEO of King Digital, which publishes the game, calls #TalkingTech to chat about the amazing success of the mobile game.
My guest this week is Jordan King aka meatloaf on the radio and a slew of other names. Jordan has become quite popular for being one of the few who was at the forefront of creating unique digital content, wether it be his time on the radio, or creating youtube videos and more recently delving into the meme centric world we seemed to be living in. I talk with Jordan to get to know more about who he is behind the various online personas and find out what its like to sometimes be the one of the most hated people on the internet at times. Take a little bit and get to see a bit more behind the curtain of someone who spends his days thinking of ways to get you to respond in some way to what he's doing. Sam explains! * Why using someone else’s content in your game is definitely a no-no * Cody and Sam talk about overseas litigation, and the reasons why it can be pretty ridiculously difficult to pursue * Sam talks trademarks and how protectable they are * He delves into King Digital’s attempt to trademark “saga” to protect their games like Candy Crush Saga, and why the trademark filing wasn’t quite as strange as everyone initially thought (although it was still pretty bad) * Cody brings up the iDroid from Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and asks Sam about the “i” prefix as a trademark * Sam also talks about logo usage in games, and what can and can’t get you into trouble, including an interesting situation that is currently being “tested”
