This episode is brought to you by Yotpo. The fully digital workplace environment - maybe once a far-off dream for entrepreneurs - came into being quick with the start of the COVID pandemic, says Travis Price, E-commerce Growth Lead of Mercury, a company providing financial services to digitally native startups. It's a trend that has helped Mercury grow. "Not only are we seeing a lot of - quote-unquote - digital nomads who have had aspirations to build a business and live sort of that digital lifestyle, sign up for Mercury," he says, but we're also seeing companies that are operating remotely and have distributed teams leverage Mercury as well." To that end, Mercury is working on growing out various verticals that can provide value and have a strong product-market fit. That's in addition to the core products that focus on services that traditional banks haven't thought about. As for the future of banking, Travis says Mercury is building more capital products. "Every business needs capital," he says. "We want to make that process of obtaining capital a lot easier and a lot cheaper." Travis offers these words of wisdom for would-be startup entrepreneurs. "Persistence pays," he says. "In the early days, months, and even years of starting your business, it will be extremely difficult and stressful. There are going to be times when you want to quit. But persistence pays if you truly believe in the product or service you're building, the team you're building, the value you're providing to people. It's going to work out." In Part 2, Travis talks about: * The effect of COVID on the digital workplace. * Building out verticals to provide value and strong product-market fit. * The trend of holding companies raising capital to buy e-commerce brands and the challenges of that trend. * Capital, crypto,, and personal banking are three areas that Mercury will focus on in the future. * How the onboarding process works. * Advice for new entrepreneurs. Join Ramon Vela and Travis Price as they break down the inside story on The Story of a Brand. For more on Mercury, visit: https://mercury.com/ Subscribe and Listen to the podcast on all major apps. The phrase, “Attention Economy,” first appeared on the digital landscape about two decades ago. Today, it's shaping not only the world around us, but our mental and physical well-being as we navigate our individual paths through it. Wikipedia gives Attention economy the following definition - Attention economics is an approach to the management of information that treats human attention as a scarce commodity, and applies economic theory to solve various information management problems. Put simply by Matthew Crawford, "Attention is a resource—a person has only so much of it." In today's podcast, I want to talk about the growing unrest, and why making personal changes has gone from being a good idea to being a necessity.

On this episode of the Thematic Signals podcast, Tematica’s Chris Versace breaks down the latest trade developments (including why he doesn’t think a two-step deal is likely) and discusses the European Central Bank rate cut before shares his thoughts on the continued plight of brick & mortar retail as Forever 21 is slated to file bankruptcy this weekend. We see no slowdown in the Digital Lifestyle tailwind that is a headwind for those like Forever 21. Chris then moves to why he was nonplused by Apple’s 2019 iPhone event even though it announcements made during the event mean problems for Netflix and GameStop. Also, hotels in Japan get a makeover, and Volkswagen comes out of the German Auto Show swinging at Tesla. To hear how those two items tie into our Living the Life and Cleaner Living investing themes, as well as why Chris is a little concerned about the Federal Reserve meeting next week, you’ll need to listen to need hit the play button and listen. On this episode of the Thematic Signals podcast, we’re digging into the July Retail Sales and quarterly earnings results from Walmart as both confirm the hard-blowing tailwinds associated with our Digital Lifestyle, Middle-Class Squeeze, Aging of the Population and Cleaner Living Investing themes. We also breakdown a recent article in The Wall Street Journal that discusses how one aspect of our Cleaner Living investing theme — electric vehicles — could threaten the German economy. It’s the same structural shift that should have folks more than a little concerned about Tesla, both its business as well as its shares. All that and much more on this episode of the podcast. On this episode of the Thematic Signals podcast, we find ourselves in the thick of earnings season and Tematica’s Chris Versace not only provides an overview for how all of these reports are coming together to form a larger picture, he shares a thematic look at what’s moving several stocks, including Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL), International Airlines Group (ICAGY), IBM (IBM), Netflix (NFLX), Skyworks Solutions (SWKS) and the impact of spending on cybersecurity. In thematic speak, it's the Digital Lifestyle, Digital Infrastructure, Disruptive Innovators, and the Safety & Security themes, with an added dash of privacy. Of particular note, Chris is really excited about one of the latest signals for Tematica’s Cleaner Living investing theme as Nestle SA has found a way to dramatically reduce the sugar content of its KitKat bar. Why? Because it and other food and beverage companies are under pressure from consumers and governments alike to make healthier products amid rising obesity and diabetes rates. If Nestle keeps this up maybe one day it could land in the Tematica Research Cleaner Living Index. On this episode of the Thematic Signals podcast, Tematica’s Chris Versace gets investors and corporate leaders ready for what Fed Chairman Powell may do at this week’s semi-annual testimony in front of the House Financial Services Committee. In June Powell signaled a more dovish tone with monetary policy citing the slowing global economy, trade-related uncertainty and the lack of inflation. After Independence Day 2019, however, several pieces of new data may give Powell and the Fed some room to wait. What the data was and what it could mean, we discuss on the podcast. We’re also sharing several signals for our Digital Lifestyle, Cleaner Living, Living the Life and Safety & Security investing themes. Remotely working in today's digital economy without seeing anyone all day. What does it take to succeed?
On this episode of the Thematic Signals podcast, Tematica’s Chris Versace digs into what investors should be watching in the month of July. Between the June quarter earnings season, the Fed and the latest economic data, there is no shortage of things investors need to watch. In Chris’s view that’s especially true given the potential for the Fed to NOT cut interest rates at its July monetary policy meeting, and for earnings guidance to be softer than Wall Street is expecting. We’ve also got several thematic signals, including ones for our Digital Lifestyle, Aging of the Population and Cleaner Living Index. If you listen carefully, Chris mentions not only one of his favorite companies for the second half of the year, but also how the Cleaner Living signal ties into the Tematica Research Cleaner Living Index. Ashe Oro: 00:00 What's up and welcome back to the Liberty Entrepreneurs Podcast. I'm your host, Ashe Oro, and we've got a return guest today, Kevin Geary. He's the founder of sixfiguregrind.com and most recently The 250,000 Society. I think he calls The 250k Society. Welcome back to Liberty Entrepreneurs, Kevin. Kevin Geary: 00:20 Thanks for having me. Glad to be here. Ashe Oro: 00:21 Yeah. Listeners will recognize Kevin from episode 70 where we talk about everything you know about food is wrong, but I had to get Kevin back on the show because there's this concept of a digital lifestyle business that he's been promoting on social media and on his podcasts and on his websites, and it really clicks with me, someone who's a digital entrepreneur and nomad and loves the idea of build a business that takes care of you and your family, and you don't have to build the next Microsoft or Apple. Ashe Oro: 00:52 Kevin, can you give us a brief background of who you are and what is the Six Figure Grind? Kevin Geary: 00:59 That is my current mission is to help anybody who's interested. If you're out there listening and you have some entrepreneurial blood inside you, and you want to take advantage of what I see as the biggest opportunity of the history of the human race really when you look at it. The ability to build an online lifestyle business like you just said takes care of yourself and your family yet you don't have to go to the length of building some massive thing that has a bunch of risks and that you need venture capital for and all of this other stuff.
