President Trump remains in the Middle East, today he is in Qatar and is expected to continue to announce trade deals. Yesterday he announced a $600b commitment from Saudi Arabia for investment in the U.S. Later this morning, Boeing is on watch as Qatar may be planning a large plane order for Boeing jets. Earnings announcements for CSCO and CRWV are expected after the bell today. Tomorrow morning, WMT, BABA, DE & NTES are scheduled to report.
Likefolio's Andy Swan covers their consumer sentiment data on Walmart (WMT). Despite some economists expecting the “shoe about to drop” on consumer health, Andy says there's no sign of it happening. He sees WMT's web traffic “consistently trending higher” and calls its strategy and execution “masterful.” From their earnings report, he expects “very good” results, but the “wild card” is tariffs. He talks about its digital strategy and how it is competing with Amazon (AMZN).======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Options involve risks and are not suitable for all investors. Jan Rogers Kniffen thinks Walmart's (WMT) earnings pullback is an opportunity. He considers the company's gargantuan reach in the retail space unbeatable despite similar companies posting strong fourth-quarter earnings. Jan doesn't take Amazon (AMZN) out of the equation, believing its reach into multiple industries only helps its ecommerce engine. Tom White later turns to example options trades in Walmart and Home Depot (HD).======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about

"The problem with Walmart (WMT) is they're going to be affected by the tariffs," says Melissa Armo. Following 4Q earnings that were above expectations, shares of WMT slid lower as investors react to a guidance miss. Armo says this stock "could keep going up" and maintain its bullish trend, but says it is "not a buy today." In terms of shopping experience, she prefers Target (TGT) stores over Walmart. In terms of Alibaba (BABA), she says zoom out on the chart and look at the long-term downtrend dating back to 2020. ======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day.Subscribe to the Market Minute newsletter - https://schwabnetwork.com/subscribeDownload the iOS app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/schwab-network/id1460719185Download the Amazon Fire Tv App - https://www.amazon.com/TD-Ameritrade-Network/dp/B07KRD76C7Watch on Sling - https://watch.sling.com/1/asset/191928615bd8d47686f94682aefaa007/watchWatch on Vizio - https://www.vizio.com/en/watchfreeplus-exploreWatch on DistroTV - https://www.distro.tv/live/schwab-network/Follow us on X – https://twitter.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/schwabnetworkFollow us on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/schwab-network/About Schwab Network - https://schwabnetwork.com/about
