He's got a busy night life. He's got a busy time running around between his different underworld connections and trying to get people not to contradict his statements. That's a busy life. I have a life focused...on meeting the people of Joburg, listening to the people of Joburg, listening to their solutions for the problems for Joburg and getting a plan together to fix Joburg. So I have a busy life doing that.” Zille also comments on the reasons behind PA Leader Gayton McKenzie's relentless support for President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) scored a shock win last night over the Democratic Alliance (DA) in a Paarl in a ward where it got 43% of the vote after getting only 1% there in 2021. Elections analyst Wayne Sussman tells BizNews: “…this means that Gayton McKenzie and the Patriotic Alliance are edging closer and closer to the City of Cape Town. Die Namibiese Mededingingskommissie sal van vandag tot 18 Julie openbare konsultasies in die noordelike streke aanbied. Die uitreiksessies in Kunene, Omusati, Ohangwena, Oshana en Oshikoto is daarop gemik om bewustheid te verhoog oor billike mededinging en die kommissie se rol in die bevordering van 'n voorspoedige, inklusiewe ekonomie. Tydens 'n sitting van die Nasionale Vergadering het die onderwysminister, Sanet Steenkamp, die amptelike bekendstelling van die veldtog "Ending Learning Poverty for All in Africa" in Namibië aangekondig. Die veldtog sal op 29 Julie in Outjo in die Kunene-streek afskop. Dit sal na verwagting help om onder meer die syfervaardigheidskrisis aan te spreek.

Die Puros sonkrag mini-netwerk in die Kunene-streek het 'n hupstoot van 8 miljoen Namibiese dollar van die energieministerie ontvang, wat die totale befondsing tot 14 miljoen dollar verhoog het. Die 300 kilovolt-stelsel sal 164 huishoudings van krag voorsien. As deel van die Tidret-inisiatief, word die projek mede-befonds deur die Europese Unie en gelei deur die Omgewingsbeleggingsfonds en Nored. Konstruksie het in Januarie 2025 begin, met vordering wat sonkragstraatligte en 'n kragnetwerk insluit. Nored sal die netwerk bestuur met behulp van 'n sosiale tariefmodel. Die kabinet het in sy jongste besluitnemingsvergadering die kinderwelsyn- en gesondheid-ministeries, saam met ander belanghebbendes, opdrag gegee om 'n voedingsreaksiestrategie te ontwikkel om ernstige akute wanvoeding te bestry. Die gesondheidministerie is ook beveel om dringend immuniserings- en wanvoedingvoorkomingsdienste in die Kunene-streek te verbeter. Inligtingminister Emma Theofelus het meer.

Vloede in die Kunenestreek het reeds 68 families ontwortel, een lewe geëis, infrastruktuur beskadig en landerye verwoes. Skole en lodges is geraak en hulp is dringend nodig. Volgens die jongste weervoorspelling kan matige donderstorms oor die Kunene- en Erongo-streke verwag word in die volgende paar dae. Die binneland sal deels bewolk en warm wees in die noordooste, met geïsoleerde donderstorms in sommige gebiede, terwyl die kus gedeeltelik bewolkte en warm Kosmos 94.1 Nuus het geselos met Vilho Ndeunyema van die Namibiese Meteorologiese Diens, wat meer inligting gee.

'n 54-jarige man is vroeg Donderdagoggend deur iets gebyt terwyl hy en 'n werker in 'n kamer in Omakange in die Kunene-streek geslaap het. Die man het sy werker wakker gemaak, waarna hulle die kamer deursoek en 'n slang gekry het. Hulle het die slang doodgemaak en na die Omakange kliniek gejaag maar hy is op aankoms dood verklaar. Die Namibiese polisiemag in die Kunene-streek het in 2024 altesaam 2 683 kriminele sake aangemeld. Die hoof van misdaadondersoeke in die streek, adjunk-kommissaris Eric Clay, het aan die New Era dagblad 'n verslag gegee oor die misdade wat meestal in die streek gepleeg word. Diefstal van waterpompe is 'n nuwe probleem.

Die omgewingministerie gaan 'n baanbrekerprojek loods wat daarop gemik is om mens-dier konflik te verminder en wildmisdaad aan te spreek. Die Geïntegreerde Benadering tot Proaktiewe Bestuur van Mens-natuurlewe Konflik en Wildmisdaad Projek sal meer as 4 500 mense regstreeks bevoordeel, met 'n bykomende 18 100 mense wat indirek sal baat vind. Die projek fokus op drie belangrike landskappe. Dit is die Noord-Sentraal landskap, wat Etosha Nasionale Park insluit; die Noordwes-landskap, wat die Kunene-streek dek; en die Noordoostelike landskap, wat oor die Bwabwata-Mudumu Nasionale Park-kompleks in die KAZA-oorgrensbewaringsgebied strek.
