Join the dialogue - text your questions, insights, and feedback to The Dignity Lab podcast. In this conversation on The Dignity Lab, guest host and neonatologist Dr. Staci Olister brings together trauma-informed care expert Mary Coughlin and host Dr. Jennifer Griggs to explore how trauma and dignity are deeply intertwined in healthcare and beyond. They trace the evolution of trauma from a narrow focus on physical injury to a broader, lived experience that overwhelms a person's capacity to cope. They define dignity as our inherent, unearned worth—no more and no less than anyone else's—and extend this to organizations, non-human animals, and the Earth itself.Dignity violations—exclusion, humiliation, lack of safety, medical gaslighting, and structural injustice—are at the root of much of the trauma experienced by patients and clinicians. Mary describes how we can “build the buffering” for people in overwhelming situations, rather than only “summing up the suffering.” Jennifer offers a pathway for reclaiming dignity: naming a dignity violation, affirming a person's worth, seeking accountability and repair where possible, and shifting from “me” (the one to whom something happened) to “I” (the agent/creator) and ultimately to “Thou,” seeing the sacred dignity in others, including those who have harmed us.They also address shame as an emotion that thrives in silence and secrecy. They examine how dehumanizing language, hierarchical culture, business models of productivity, and electronic health records can undermine trauma-informed, dignity-centered care. The episode closes with an invitation to join Mary and Jennifer for an immersive, trauma-informed, dignity-centered retreat in Ireland, focused on embodied leadership, radical listening, reflective writing, and nervous system regulation.TakeawaysTrauma is a lived experience that touches body, mind, spirit, and communityDignity is our inherent, unearned worth, extending to humans, organizations, and the EarthTrauma and dignity violations are interwoven in healthcare and beyondTrauma-informed care principles are practical ways to enact dignity in everyday practiceShame and secrecy fuel systemic disconnection in healthcare culturesPatients, families, and clinicians are routinely exposed to everyday dignity violationsWe reclaim dignity by naming harm, affirming worth, and seeking accountability and repairHealing involves shifting from “me” to “I” to “Thou” in our stories and leadershipDehumanizing language, business models, and electronic recorExploring what it means to live and lead with dignity at work, in our families, in our communities, and in the world. ▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.comInstagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalinLinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin
Women Don't Need More Discipline — They Need a System Designed for Their Biologyhttps://www.linkedin.com/pulse/women-dont-need-more-discipline-system-designed-biology-lola-lin-2bsxcWhy AI Will Replace Hustle — But It Will Never Replace The Lola System™https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-ai-replace-hustle-never-lola-system-lola-lin-cfmkc/這兩篇文章會幫你更完整理解: 為什麼「努力」與「理性」常常無法真正解決高壓下的內耗。 ▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.comInstagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalinLinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin

In this episode, Jennifer Wallace and Elisabeth Kristof are joined by Oren Shai, organizational psychologist, somatic executive coach, and NSI-certified practitioner, for a conversation about what happens when nervous system literacy meets the corporate world. After years working inside large organizations, including LinkedIn, Oren kept seeing the same pattern: all the right strategies, all the right tactics, and none of the essential human work getting done. What if the quality of your leadership isn't determined by your intelligence, experience, or decision-making frameworks—but by your nervous system's capacity to feel? In this conversation, we explore how emotional repression, trauma patterns, and chronic stress shape leadership, team dynamics, and organizational culture—and why so many high performers are operating at a hidden cost to their health, relationships, and sense of self. This episode is for leaders, entrepreneurs, practitioners, and anyone who has ever found themselves doing everything "right" professionally, while feeling depleted, disconnected, or like they're holding it all together behind the scenes. Because leadership isn't just about what you do. It's about what your nervous system can hold. In This Episode, You Will Learn: Why the quality of leadership is tied directly to nervous system capacity Why high performers are often high performers because of trauma, not despite it The difference between nervous system regulation as coping versus as a foundation for aligned action Why leaders are emotionally contagious, and what that means for organizational health What embodied leadership looks like, and why it changes everything for teams Chapters 0:00 - The Doorway Into the Real Conversation: Co-Founders and What Goes Unnamed 1:08 - Welcome: What Leadership Capacity Actually Requires 2:51 - Introducing Oren Shai: From the Tech World to Somatic Executive Coaching 7:10 - What Elisabeth Hears from Women Executives When No One Else Is Listening 11:43 - Organizations Have a Nervous System Too 13:31 - Leaders Are Emotionally Contagious: The Ripple Effect of Embodied Leadership 22:39 - How Oren Opens the Conversation with Leadership Teams 30:14 - Most Careers Are Fueled by Coffee and Trauma 37:25 - Why Individual Work Alone Cannot Create Organizational Change 43:45 - Slowing Down Enough to Remember What Aliveness Feels Like 51:35 - Moving From Nervous System Regulation as Coping to Capacity as a Daily Practice 57:50 - Closing Reflection: Start Close In Ways to Engage with Neurosomatics Capacity Gap: Free BrainBased workshop for entrepreneurs, leaders and high-performers: rewirecapacity.com Two week trail of BrainBased membership for neurosomatic practices and nervous system rehabilitation and health: rewiretrial.com Introduction to NSI for practitioners, coaches and therapists - The NSI foundations Bundle: https://neurosomaticintelligence.com/workshops/ Connect with Oren Shai: https://www.linkedin.com/in/oshai/ Watch Trauma Rewired on YouTube - Subscribe here Learn more about psychedelic neuroscience and neurosomatics on Sacred Synapse with Jennifer Wallace Disclaimer: Trauma Rewired podcast is intended to educate and inform but does not constitute medical, psychological or other professional advice or services. 這是 Integration(整合)。 ▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.comInstagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalinLinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin
Ryan Honeyman and Emmy Allison speak with Rooney Castle, President and CEO of Rhino Foods, about what it actually means to lead in a way that reflects an organization's values. Rooney shares how Rhino Foods has built a culture you can feel from the moment you walk through the door, through consistent small gestures, deep proximity to employees across all shifts, and a commitment to shared responsibility rather than centralized authority. The conversation explores how living your values is less about charisma or positional power and more about showing up consistently, listening carefully, and using whatever influence you have to elevate the voices of others.View the show notes: https://go.lifteconomy.com/blog/beyond-certification-what-living-b-corp-values-actually-looks-like-w/-rooney-castle___ We've talked about walking the talk. ▷ Work with LolaApply for The Lola System™ 90https://lolalinocean.com/apply這是一個邀請制的入口,為「準備好真正改變,但不想再撐」的女性而設。▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.com Instagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalin LinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin
▷ Work with LolaApply for The Lola System™ 90https://lolalinocean.com/apply這是一個邀請制的入口,為「準備好真正改變,但不想再撐」的女性而設。▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.comInstagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalinLinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin

▷ Work with LolaThe Lola System™ 90 不是讓你更會處理情緒,而是讓你在一個不需要再撐、不需要再切斷身體反應的場域裡, 完成那些你一個人走不完的循環。 ▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.com Instagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalin LinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin
▷ Work with LolaApply for The Lola System™ 90 https://lolalinocean.com/apply這是一個邀請制的入口,為「準備好真正改變,但不想再撐」的女性而設。▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.com Instagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalin LinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin
▷ Work with LolaApply for The Lola System™ 90 https://lolalinocean.com/apply這是一個邀請制的入口,為「準備好真正改變,但不想再撐」的女性而設。▷ Connect with LolaWebsite|https://lolalinocean.com Instagram|https://www.instagram.com/lolalolalin LinkedIn|https://www.linkedin.com/in/lolalin

Welcome to an eye-opening episode of the "Stuck In My Mind Podcast," hosted by Wize El Jefe, featuring a profound conversation with the multi-faceted Angel Howard—professional dancer, corporate executive, somatic movement therapist, and founder of Wild Heart Expressive and the Chakra Mental Method. This episode, rich with authentic reflection and practical wisdom, is a heartfelt exploration into the power of embodiment, the challenges of high achievement, and the essential role of communication in well-being and leadership. The Body Never Lies: A Journey from Burnout to Alignment The episode begins with Wize El Jefe reflecting on his own journey to meaning through podcasting, setting the stage for Angel Howard's transformative story. Angel Howard candidly shares her corporate beginnings in the high-pressure world of 1980s business culture. She describes the physical and emotional toll of burnout—“the day I couldn't get off the couch”—and how this was a wake-up call to attend not just to outward success, but to inner fulfillment. Through firsthand anecdotes, she illustrates how the relentless pursuit of “more” is often empty, driving individuals away from their true needs and into exhaustion. What makes Angel Howard's narrative compelling is her recognition that the body holds and expresses our deepest stories, even when words fail us. She unpacks the dynamics of corporate posturing, the “peacocking” of success, and how the disconnect between words and bodily signals breeds mistrust. The somatic awareness she brings is not only insightful but actionable, offering listeners a lens to examine their own lived experiences of stress, ambition, and authenticity. Cross-Cultural Discoveries & Reclaiming Joy A pivotal moment in Angel Howard's journey was her time studying and living in Europe, where she discovered cultures that prize communal meals, relaxation, and appreciation for life beyond work. The contrast between European and American work cultures highlights the importance of self-care and the integration of play and rest into daily life. Wize El Jefe resonates with this, contemplating how fear and lack of courage can hold people back from living more joyfully and authentically. The episode finds its emotional center when Angel Howard asks Wize El Jefe what feeds his soul—a question that opens up a vulnerable, honest discussion about finding purpose through podcasting, self-growth, and spiritual practice. Both speakers share how intentional reflection, affirmations, and connecting to a higher purpose have brought them greater alignment and joy. The Healing Power of Movement Angel Howard delves deeper into how movement became her lifeline during personal crisis, notably in the aftermath of a traumatic marriage experience. She recounts lying in fetal position, paralyzed by grief, and discovering that simply moving her body—even a finger—helped her process pain and reclaim her sense of self. This raw story exemplifies the essence of somatic healing: expressing and releasing emotions through embodied practices. She explains the foundations of her work with Wild Heart Expressive and the Chakra Mental Method, integrating yogic principles, elements like fire and water, and the understanding of how emotional states manifest physically. Her approach helps individuals locate sensations in the body, connect them with emotions and stories, and begin the process of conscious, embodied leadership. Success, High Achievement, and Why “More” is Never Enough The conversation turns to why high achievers—especially those shaped by achievement-oriented families and demanding career environments—often feel unfulfilled despite their visible success. Angel Howard shares her personal struggle with always feeling she must do better, never being “enough,” and how this internalized pressure can become like an addiction to achievement itself. Crucially, she encourages listeners to celebrate every milestone and practice gratitude, rather than relentlessly chasing external validation. The pair discuss the pernicious effects of social comparison, particularly in the era of social media, and how true fulfillment requires shifting focus from external accomplishments to internal motivations. Angel Howard suggests practical self-inquiry questions for listeners who sense something missing beneath their success: Why do you feel unfulfilled? Are your motivations driven by genuine internal desires or by societal expectations and comparison? Communication: The Foundation of All Relationships One of the most powerful themes of the episode is communication—both internal (with oneself) and external (with others). Angel Howard reveals that 93% of communication is nonverbal, consisting of body language, eye contact, and gestures. This insight becomes crucial in the realm of leadership, where congruence between words and embodied presence breeds trust and inspires teams. As she prepares for her next chapter—writing her forthcoming book “What's Messing With Your Messages?”, embarking on a speaking tour, and launching a new PBS show on women's aging—her mission is clear: to help people communicate authentically, reconnect with their bodies, and lead with integrity and empathy. Practical Tools for Listeners Throughout the episode, both speakers share practical strategies for becoming more embodied and aligned: Stop and notice sensations in the body Practice intentional breath and create pauses before reacting Celebrate wins, both big and small Spend time in reflection, whether spiritual or secular Use movement—dance, walking, yoga—as a means to process emotion Practice presence in communication, matching intent with bodily cues Angel Howard also offers her book, “Issues In Your Tissues,” packed with resources, QR codes for guided movement sessions, and a Spotify playlist to support emotional and somatic exploration. A Conversation That Resonates What stands out in this episode is the warmth, sincerity, and mutual respect between Wize El Jefe and Angel Howard. Their stories, rooted in lived experience, invite listeners to reflect: What is the story my body carries? What truly feeds my soul? Am I living and leading in alignment with my deepest values? Whether you're a high achiever feeling disconnected from your purpose, a leader seeking to motivate and inspire authentically, or someone curious about embodied healing, this episode offers wisdom, hope, and practical steps to start your journey today—no need to wait for the “perfect moment.” Tune in for a transformative dialogue that will inspire you to get out of your head, live more deeply in your body, and communicate from a place of true alignment. Preventing Burnout Through Embodiment In this episode, I sit down with Julius, a leadership coach who knows firsthand what burnout feels like from his years in management consultancy. Julius shares how embodiment practices and organizational behavior can bridge the gap between what we know about burnout and what we actually do to prevent it. By tuning into body awareness and reconnecting with our physical vitality, leaders can develop practical ways to manage stress and protect their energy. Understanding and Preventing Burnout Julius and I opened up about our personal experiences with burnout, from sleepless nights and rising anxiety to withdrawing from activities that once brought joy. I emphasized the importance of digging into the deeper motivations that fuel burnout, while Julius outlined his approach using gestalt therapy and embodiment practices to restore balance and resilience in leaders. Balancing Emotions in Leadership Julius shared a story about coaching a leader to find the right balance between professional composure and authentic emotional expression. Rather than shutting down emotions, he helps leaders integrate them into healthier ways of working. I reflected on the historical challenges female leaders have faced and highlighted the urgent need for better leadership training that supports both emotional skills and professional growth. Enhancing Leadership Through Practical Skills We both agreed that leadership demands more than theory. Universities often miss the mark by not equipping students with the life skills they will actually need in the workplace such as emotional regulation, communication, and professional behavior. Together, Julius and I explored how these skills could reshape both education and organizational success. Self-Awareness in Leadership Development A key theme in our conversation was self-awareness. Julius and I discussed how clarity on personal values, needs, and goals drives more meaningful action and prevents burnout. I shared my own journey of recovery, where asking “why does this matter to me?” shifted everything. Julius emphasized that while organizations may fear the vulnerability that comes with self-exploration, the real risk lies in avoiding it altogether. Self-Regulation and Organizational Development Julius introduced his 4A model which stands for awareness, attraction, action, and alignment. This practical framework supports self-regulation and leadership growth. I recalled my time at Daimler-Benz, where inviting outside perspectives into project debriefs expanded capacity and improved results without additional hiring. Both of us stressed that feedback and reflection are non-negotiable for personal and organizational growth. The Value of Dialogue in Leadership Julius highlighted dialogue as a cornerstone of healthy organizations, helping leaders and teams release pressure and broaden perspective. I agreed, noting that genuine communication tears down silos and prevents misunderstandings before they grow into bigger issues. Embodied Leadership in Action To close, we explored Julius's work on embodied leadership and how listeners can learn more. If you want to deepen your leadership through embodiment, you can connect with Julius through his website or LinkedIn. Julius went from executive burnout in high-pressure tech environments to pioneering Embodied Leadership, a method that blends psychology, neuroscience, and somatic practices. As founder of the Alive School of Embodied Leadership & Transformation in Berlin, he helps leaders from startups to global enterprises sustain performance without burning out. A published author and Harvard Business Manager contributor, Julius shares practical “bodyhacks” and strategies to move from leadership frustration (Führungsfrust) to leadership joy (Führungslust). His approach offers listeners actionable tools to prevent burnout and thrive.
When I say “Knock, Knock!” I'm inviting you to a new way of leading; one that welcomes your whole self: mind, body, and spirit. In this episode, I share my journey from leading from exhaustion to leading from overflow. You'll hear the story of how I learned to let my mind rest, listen to my body's wisdom, and trust the quiet voice of Spirit guiding every decision. This is what embodied leadership looks like: a sacred integration of soul and strategy. If you've been standing outside the door of your own leadership, feeling disconnected or burnt out, I created this space for you.
Have you ever met someone who just gets under your skin — a person whose confidence, voice, or behavior irritates you and you can't quite figure out why? In today's episode of The Couragecast, we're diving deep into the mirror effect — how the people who frustrate us most are often our greatest teachers. When someone triggers you, it's rarely about them. It's usually a reflection of something within you that's ready to be seen, healed, or integrated. In this honest and compassionate conversation, I share a personal story about being triggered during a family gathering and how it led me to deeper self-awareness, compassion, and healing. If you're ready to stop projecting, start reflecting, and take radical responsibility for your emotions and energy, this episode will help you shift from irritation to empowerment. You'll learn how to: Recognize when someone is mirroring a part of yourself Move from judgment into compassion Take radical responsibility without shame or blame Cultivate emotional safety and show up grounded Turn triggers into powerful opportunities for healing and growth Whether it's a family member, client, or coach online — this episode will help you see every relationship as an invitation to return home to yourself. https://www.andreacrisp.ca/coachingReady to take radical responsibility and move through life with more ease and self-trust? Dr. T hosts this episode solo and welcomes, as his guest, Joe Strummer, partner of Truth Fairy. Joe Strummer was instrumental in helping set up Punk Therapy and had his own therapeutic psychedelic experience a decade ago alongside Truth Fairy and Dr. Gabor Maté. Joe shares how that experience has stayed with him, how he works with Truth in supporting her workshops, and how the psychedelic healing and therapy both factor into his own work in corporate leadership coaching. Joe's background with the arts and team facilitation fuse into his embodied leadership approach, which he shares with Dr. T. Many key themes weave through the conversation between Joe and Dr. T. as they discuss Joe's own history and work. Leadership development is something Joe is very involved in. He stresses the importance of integrating left-brain strategic thinking with right-brain relational and somatic skills to assist leaders in self-awareness and being fully present. Joe also works in the overlap between leadership coaching and psychedelic therapy, drawing on his training in somatic relationship trauma-informed practices and personal experiences with ayahuasca, MDMA, and psilocybin, to help his clients. Dr. T and Joe talk in detail about Joe's personal journey with imposter syndrome and outsider syndrome. Joe was able to trace the roots of those struggles back to childhood experiences, and through psychedelic-assisted therapy, he was able to reframe old narratives. He and Dr. T explore how Joe is now able to pause, ground, and adapt in high-pressure facilitation moments. Joe advocates for leaders to recognize and integrate the parts of themselves they've felt pressured to cover or suppress to foster greater authenticity and inclusion, as well as human connection, in the workplace.“... maybe another good metaphor is the work that the Truth Fairy leads through somatic relational informed practices for psychedelic medicine. And, you know, that somatic relational is really important. Somatic meaning of the body, being present in the body in that moment. So being aware physically of what's going on with your body and where you are and how you're sitting, but also just being in that moment rather than in your head.” - Joe Strummer__Resources discussed in this episode:Gabor MatéJoe Strummer at PsychedelicLeadership.ca or info@psychedelicleadership.ca__Contact Punk Therapy:Patreon: Patreon.com/PunkTherapyWebsite: PunkTherapy.comEmail: info@punktherapy.com Contact Truth Fairy: Email: Truth@PunkTherapy.com
