The GOOD Party has laid criminal charges against Western Cape MECs and senior officials for allegedly tabling falsely balanced provincial budgets ahead of last year's general election. The party claims the MECs presented a rosy picture of the province's finances, only to later declare a R3.8 billion budget shortfall. A dossier of evidence has been submitted to the police and the party says this is the first time in South Africa's history that a government has been caught tabling a false or fake budget. In a move to reshape South Africa's political landscape, three opposition parties have united under a new banner. Build One South Africa's Dr. Mmusi Maimane, Good Party leader Patricia de Lille, and Rise Mzansi's Songezo Zibi have officially launched a new political formation Unite For Change. The alliance aims to contest the 2026 local government elections, promising ethical leadership, economic recovery, and improved service delivery.
