After nearly a decade of struggling through infertility, Laura Brandenburg still believes that even through the hardest chapters of our lives, God writes good endings. If you've been waiting on healing, waiting for God to show you His goodness amidst your pain, or just asking God to give you the patience to wait on His timing, then this is the episode for you. Laura shares the lessons her season of waiting taught her (they're GOOD, y'all), as well as how her body was healed when her husband started praying specifically over her each night (but catch-that's still not all there is to the story - you'll have to listen to see what I mean). In our recent livestream discussion, we talked with Laura Brandenburg from Bridging the Gap about transferable skills. This is for both the aspiring business analysis professional and the experienced professional looking to grow their team. We started the discussion about crafting resumes. To highlight transferrable skills, we should prioritize showcasing our achievements over merely listing responsibilities. By spotlighting our accomplishments, we can effectively shine a light on our soft skills and underlying competencies, presenting a more holistic view of our abilities. As senior BAs, we explored how we can assist our junior counterparts in cultivating transferable skills. This involves providing opportunities for them to actively participate in meetings and gradually assume more responsibilities in projects. By doing so, they can showcase their skills in practical contexts. We also touched on the topic of transitioning into industries where we lack domain expertise. We recognized the need to highlight our ability to quickly grasp new concepts, ask pertinent questions, and effectively collaborate with domain experts. Building a network within the target industry is a good way to open doors and navigate past initial HR screening processes that may screen based on industry experience. During the conversation, the value of Toastmasters International as a program for enhancing communication skills was mentioned. Gaining Toastmasters certifications can demonstrate communication competencies, a skill fundamental to our roles as business analysis professionals. Laura Brandenburg is a great friend of mine and a member of my mastermind group. She is the founder and CEO of, Bridging the Gap, an online training and certification company for business analysts. Not only is Laura incredibly successful in her business but she discusses her success in real estate as well. For Laura her "Made it Moment" in business was the first sale of her ebook one year after beginning her blog. She also shares a really special "Made it Moment" after she arrived in North Carolina in their new investment home. She speaks on the incredible rewards of working hard and being intentional and seeing everything come to fruition. One of my favorite things about Laura is her Zone of Genius. She is truly an answer seeker. But more than that she is intentional about digging deep and finding the root question. She has a really unique way of looking at a set of problems and seeing more. This wouldn't be Crystal Uncorked without getting raw and real, Laura talks about some big decisions in her business, like adding on a crucial new team member. When making big changes like that self-doubt comes flying in. She handles these feelings by taking the worst case scenario approach. This is where you let your mind go to the worst possible outcome of your decision, and you can decide… can you handle it? More times than not you can and in reality you usually never have to. Not only has Laura battled self-doubt, like many other business owners, she has overcome burnout. She made the incredibly important point that you do not have to physically be working overtime to experience burnout, it can happen if you're working less than the typical person but your mind is never taking a day off. After Laura was hospitalized just a few years ago for this, I have witnessed her change her intentions, create boundaries, and make such a healthy shift that is so important for all business owners. Laura is not about keeping her secrets, tips, and lessons learned to herself. In this episode she shares three really great pieces of advice for business owners and those looking to create revenue through real estate investment. The Impact Driven Entrepreneur

Play Episode Listen Later May 29, 2017 23:55

Get the full show notes at http://impactdrivenentrepreneur.com/how-to-monetize-your-content/ There are so many ways that you can monetize and this can be overwhelming to entrepreneurs. This post was inspired by Sarah in the private Facebook Community Entrepreneurial Moms who was working on researching the various ways she could monetize her blog and wanted the one that would make her the most money. I will be talking about the Thrive Business Model Training that I did with my private coaching clients last December. This never before released private training is your for free just click here. Why Choose only one way to monetize? When I started my business I tried a few ways to monetize and what took off for me was 1:1 coaching. It made sense to me because I have a background in psychology and nursing and I loved the 1:1 relationships that my previous career allowed me to create, I also learned some very helpful counseling skills in that line of work. After only a few months, my coaching practice began to get overly full and I wanted to continue to increase my income and also I wanted to decrease my work hours. So I added passive income streams into my business through courses after this interview that I did with Laura Brandenburg it allowed for me to think creatively about what I might be able to offer that would be helpful to people who were not my 1:1 clients. One of the biggest lessons was that what will be very valuable to somebody else is probably something you already use and you likely use it every day. This single phrase she said allowed me to think creatively at what I was trying to offer as a course. I had tried to sell other courses but they were these big huge courses that were not very practical. This allowed me to see that the consistently visible system that I used with every single one of my 1:1 clients is what I would turn into a course. This new way of looking at course creation coupled with a strong launch plan that I learned from my mentor James Wedmore, allowed me to create a passive income course that was selling one per day passively for about a month and start to really create passive income in my business. An Insurance Policy Your Income When you build out multiple streams of income if one of these income streams breaks or somehow decreases you can fall back on the others. When I was focused only on coaching and I felt overwhelmed and burnt out- like I didn't have another option. This put a lot of pressure on me to sell my 1:1 packages making sales even harder than it needed to be. I have also seen this with almost every mom I have ever coached, there comes a point where your mind starts to sabotage your efforts to get clients because you simply know you don't have that much bandwidth to support another person. Think About Repeat Customers Having multiple ways that you serve somebody will allow you to get repeat customers and some of those people will buy multiple products from you multiple programs. Example: You offer a course, an affiliate product, and private coaching. Someone might start off with you purchasing the course, the see your affiliate promotion and get that too because it will help them to do the thing your course taught. After a few months. they think "Wow that course was awesome I wonder what it would be like to work with her privately" and then they buy your private coaching. When y
