Wonder The (re)learning curve has been executed brilliantly well to get back up to scratch with functions. It's very pretty but very childish. The enforced 5 minutes at the start is annoying having to wait and read and watch all the clap-trap before you get to actually play at all. The constant text pop-ups are annoying too. Hopefully they go away in time and as you get further in. The gameplay though is super. I got through the first castle now. The controller is a bit annoying using the Switch Lite as the right raised joystick thingie is in the way of my thumb hitting multiple buttons on A, B, X, Y like I used to on the SNES controller. Overall though it's fabulous, fun and 2D nostalgic. A masterstroke by Nintendo. I think this will sell huge for xmas, especially for Japanese kids.   Jeremy Harpham on Google Chromebook Update Extension This was mentioned on a recent Tech Addicts podcast, that Google was extending support of various Chromebooks with up to 10 years of Chrome OS updates. This week on The Chrome Cast, we begin the show by talking about Apple's latest announcements from WWDC 2022. With a new ARM-based M2 chip, a new Macbook Air, a confusing Macbook Pro with the M2 chip, and an interesting new multitasking tool in Stage Manager, there was a fair bit to discuss on the Apple front this week. While we generally stick to Chromebooks around here, there's no denying that many of the things Apple chooses to do set the precedents in tech as we move forward, so it's worth getting into their new announcements when they happen. Additionally this week, we touch on the new Pixel Watch app that was discovered and the fact that this will not only serve as a connection point to Google's new wearable, but should also pave the way for Android Smart Unlock as well. Finally, we get into some of our thoughts on the recently-launched Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3 as we now have a production-level model in the office for review. At this event, a new Snapdragon 7c+ Gen 3 was announced that could really heat up the ARM-powered Chromebook war in the coming months. With MediaTek slated to release their new chips in a handful of Chromebooks soon, it's an exciting time for ARM and Chrome OS. In the second half, we discuss some new software features in Chrome OS 96 and talk through some hopes for the future as Chrome OS hits milestone number 97 in early January. This week on The Chrome Cast, we begin the show by once again delving into the week's news surrounding the highly-anticipated Pixel 6 launch. With the new rumors swirling, it seems clear that we'll be seeing these new phones up for order on October 19th - less than four weeks from now. We also take some time to further discuss the Pixel fold and the fact that even in being completely overshadowed by the Pixel 6 right now, there's still hope that it may launch later in 2021. For the second half of the show, we talk about Acer's upcoming global press conference and the hopes we have that we might at least get a glimpse of a new MediaTek-powered device or two. This week on The Chrome Cast, we're diving into the tough news of the week regarding the shut down of Stadia's in-house game studio. The move definitely comes with some indications about the future of Stadia and what the service could morph into over time, so it's worth quite a bit of discussion on our part this week. For the second half, we get into a few new devices that are on the horizon in the upcoming ASUS Chromebook Flip CM3000 and the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2. Both devices are intriguing in their own ways and we're hopeful that both become available by the end of the month. This week on The Chrome Cast, we spend a bit of time talking through our latest, favorite deals as well as our picks for 2020 Gear of the Year. From $200 Lenovo Duet's to big sales on AirPods Pro, there are so many deals going on it is a bit dizzying. Between those deals and discussing some of our favorite tech from 2020, it makes for a fun first half of the show. After the break, our discussion shifts to the future as we explore all the Chromebooks we are expecting in 2021, and let me tell you: it's an absolute avalanche. While we expect a few more devices could debut before the end of 2020, 2021 looks like a more likely target for nearly every Chromebook we're keeping tabs on right now. With 7 distinct groups/families of Chromebook on the way, increased interest in Chrome OS, and more manufacturers getting in on Chromebooks than ever before, 2021 is looking like it will be a crazy ride for Chrome OS fans. This week we've tried out a Q&A format where we let the questions guide our discussion. From additional colors for the Pixel Buds to odd, questionable decisions Google is making in the phone space, we spend quite a bit of time talking about all the ways Google is fumbling through hardware right now. The Pixel line of phones is on life support and now the Pixel 3a has been discontinued without a public roadmap to explain what the next move will be with both the Pixel 4a and the rumored Pixel 5. After getting past some of those frustrations, we get to our ‘Best of 2020' video/post/landing page and talk through some of the fantastic shifts we're seeing in Chromebook hardware right now towards the mid-range. Additionally we get into ARM-powered Chromebook tablets and how they work with Android apps better than other tablets with Intel chips inside. It's all based on listener questions, and we loved using this format this week to discuss. Enjoy!
