When Martha said, “Lord if you had been here, my brother would not have died,” Jesus replied with a theological assurance. “Your brother will rise again.” He engaged Martha about the future resurrection of the dead, and astounded her with the news that he, himself, is resurrection and life. Jesus answered Martha with confidence and hope. He knew what was going to happen.

Mitchell Hay Hebrew Scripture Jeremiah 18:1-6 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Come, go down to the potter's house, and there I will let you hear my words.” So I went down to the potter's house, and there he was working at his wheel. The vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as seemed good to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me: Can I not do with you, O house of Israel, just as this potter has done? says the Lord. Just like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. Epistle Lesson Hebrews 13:1-3, 15-16 Keep on loving each other as brothers and sisters. Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it! Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies . . . Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don't forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

We hear people preaching that hatred's the real problem with our society, but hating straight, white men and Christians is common. Coca-Cola is telling people they should be less white. The company's advertisements preach tolerance but if you disagree with their message, they attack and demonize you. Soldiers died for this country and every one of us benefits from their sacrifice, but we repay their service by giving welfare to the bums and forgetting about the veterans. From Come Follow Me:Sometimes we imagine that our lives should follow a clear path from beginning to end. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, after all. And yet life is often full of delays and detours that take us in unexpected directions. We may find that our lives are quite different from what we thought they should be.Ruth and Hannah surely understood this. Ruth was not an Israelite, but she married one, and when her husband died, she had a choice to make. Would she return to her family and her old, familiar life, or would she embrace the Israelite faith and a new home with her mother-in-law? (see Ruth 1:4–18). Hannah's plan for her life was to bear children, and her inability to do so left her “in bitterness of soul” (see 1 Samuel 1:1–10). As you read about Ruth and Hannah, consider the faith they must have had to put their lives in the Lord's hands and travel their unexpected paths. Then you might think about your own journey. It will look different from Ruth's and Hannah's—and anyone else's. From Come Follow Me:Moses's earthly ministry began on a mountain, when God spoke to him from a burning bush (see Exodus 3:1–10). It also ended on a mountain, more than 40 years later, when God gave Moses a glimpse of the promised land from the top of Mount Nebo (see Deuteronomy 34:1–4). Moses had spent his life preparing the children of Israel to enter that promised land, and the book of Deuteronomy records his final instructions, reminders, exhortations, and pleadings with the Israelites. Reading his words makes it clear that the real object of Moses's ministry—the preparation the people needed—wasn't about wilderness survival, conquering nations, or building a community. It was about learning to love God, obey Him, and remain loyal to Him. That's the preparation we all need in order to enter the promised land of eternal life. A little bit late but here we are with this weeks Come Follow Me Podcast.  As you will see in this episode, we do not pretend to be scholars of the scriptures.  As a matter of fact we even turn to Google for an answer at one point in the show.  Hey, we are not ashamed....LOL.  We understand our role in this podcast world.  That is hopefully to shed some spiritual insight into likening the scriptures to our day and our personal lives while having some good times discussing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Enjoy the show.From Come Follow Me:Leaving Egypt—as important and miraculous as that was—didn't fully accomplish God's purposes for the children of Israel. Even future prosperity in the promised land wasn't God's ultimate objective for them. These were only steps toward what God really wanted for His people: “Ye shall be holy: for I the Lord your God am holy” (Leviticus 19:2). How did God seek to make His people holy when they had known nothing but captivity for generations? He commanded them to create a place of holiness to the Lord—a tabernacle in the wilderness. He gave them covenants and laws to guide their actions and, ultimately, to change their hearts. And when they fell short in their efforts to keep those laws, He commanded them to make animal sacrifices to symbolize atonement for their sins. All of this was meant to point their minds, their hearts, and their lives toward the Savior and the redemption He offers. He is the true path to holiness, for the Israelites and for us. We have all spent some time in the captivity of sin, and we are all invited to repent—to leave sin behind and follow Jesus Christ, who has promised, “I am able to make you holy” (Doctrine and Covenants 60:7).Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/SaintsInTheSouth)

Andrew and Jackson discuss the murmurings and the miracles of the children of Israel as they miraculously escape the hands of the Egyptians and then wonder in the wilderness continuing a pattern of murmurings and miracles.  From crossing the Red Sea to water gushing from a rock.  As always, how can we apply this to our day?From Come Follow Me:The Israelites were trapped. The Red Sea was on one side, and the army of Pharaoh was advancing on the other. Their escape from Egypt, it seemed, would be short-lived. But God had a message for the Israelites that He wanted them to remember for generations: “Fear ye not. … The Lord shall fight for you” (Exodus 14:13–14).Since that time, when God's people have needed faith and courage, they have often turned to this account of Israel's miraculous deliverance. When Nephi wanted to inspire his brothers, he said, “Let us be strong like unto Moses; for he truly spake unto the waters of the Red Sea and they divided hither and thither, and our fathers came through, out of captivity, on dry ground” (1 Nephi 4:2). When King Limhi wanted his captive people to “lift up [their] heads, and rejoice,” he reminded them of this same story (Mosiah 7:19). When Alma wanted to testify to his son of God's power, he also referred to this story (see Alma 36:28).
