Just rows of pine boxes disappearing into the earth.Just off the coast of the Bronx sits Hart Island, America's largest public cemetery and the final resting place for the people society forgot. For a long time, I made a series called Daily Calm - small, quiet moments meant to help you breathe and settle. I've missed creating those, but I also needed something more flexible, but still attainable, something that wasn't set to the every day of it all.The Resting Place is my way of returning to that intention in a gentler form - just a quiet space you can step into whenever you need a moment to breathe. A place to rest, to check in with yourself, and to feel held for a little while. You can rest here ❤️Gameplay footage from Eastshade, recorded by me and used under the game's content policy.

There are ways Christians escape that don't look like rebellion. They look like busyness. Performance. Endless content. Religious activity. We stay "engaged," but we are quietly numb. And over time, that numbness settles into the body as anxiety, irritability, and bitterness we don't know how to name. This week on Win Today, Stephen McWhirter joins me to discuss the socially acceptable ways believers avoid reality and why those patterns keep us stuck. Stephen's story is raw. He grew up in a violent home, ran hard from God through addiction and self-destruction, and encountered the presence of the Lord in a moment that changed everything. We explore how trauma and rebellion can coexist with spiritual language, how bitterness lodges itself in the body, and what it means to become a resting place for chaos rather than a reactor to it. This episode isn't about shame. It's about sobriety. If you've been medicating pain with distraction, ministry, content, or noise, this conversation will help you confront what you've been avoiding and rediscover what it means to be radically restored. Guest Bio Stephen McWhirter is a singer, songwriter, and worship leader known for his powerful testimony of transformation and his passion for helping others encounter the presence of God. After growing up in a tumultuous home and spending years in addiction and rebellion, Stephen experienced a radical encounter with Christ that reshaped his life and calling. He now leads worship and shares his story nationally, pointing people toward healing, identity, and freedom in Jesus. Pastors Devin and Jessalyn's four-year journey began with Isaiah 66:1 asking where God's resting place would be. Through multiple confirmations at conferences, scripture studies, and conversations, they discovered God's intent for the church to be His resting place. After seeking counsel and waiting for proper timing, they launched The Resting Place with a mission to make disciples who live in God's rest rather than constant striving. The church uniquely combines liturgical practices, charismatic gifts, and expositional preaching to create an environment where people can experience both physical and spiritual rest under Christ's reign.Support the show

This sermon focuses on the ordination of elders at The Resting Place church and establishes the church's mission, vision, and values. Pastor Devin emphasizes that this is a new season for the church, with a mission to make disciples who live in God's rest and carry His presence. The church's five core values are outlined: unhurried discipleship, presence over performance, where He rests He reigns, His house/people/presence, and His command as our commission. The sermon culminates in the formal ordination of five elders, explaining the biblical qualifications and responsibilities of eldership, emphasizing that elders are under-shepherds accountable to Christ as the chief shepherd.Support the show

A new MP3 sermon from The Narrated Puritan is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: The Love of God - A Resting Place in Evil Times Subtitle: Righteous Man's Refuge Speaker: John Flavel Broadcaster: The Narrated Puritan Event: Audiobook Date: 10/9/2025 Bible: Isaiah 26:20 Length: 2 min.
Ponder with yourself how sad and miserable the case will be with thee in the days of calamity and distress, if the love of God shall be clouded to thy soul. In those days such as love thee, will either be absent from thee, or impotent to help thee; all thy friends and familiars may be removed far off, and whither then wilt thou turn, should God be far off too? This was that evil which Jeremiah so vehemently deprecated, Jeremiah 17. ver. 17..

Send us a textThe passing of Pope Francis marks a pivotal moment in Catholic history, triggering ancient protocols that few outside the Vatican understand. As a canon lawyer within the Roman Catholic Church's legal system, I'm uniquely positioned to guide you through the fascinating reality behind papal succession.Forget Hollywood's conspiracy theories and dramatic interpretations. The truth about what happens when a pope dies is simultaneously more mundane and more fascinating. From the Camerlengo calling the Pope's name three times in a final attempt to wake him, to the ceremonial destruction of the Fisherman's Ring with shears and a silver hammer, these traditions carry deep symbolic meaning developed over two millennia.Pope Francis, true to his humble character, has chosen to break with several papal traditions. His body will be displayed at ground level rather than elevated during public viewing. Most significantly, he'll become the first pope in over a century to be buried outside St. Peter's Basilica, choosing instead St. Mary Major church where he often prayed before an ancient icon believed to have been painted by St. Luke himself. Rather than the traditional three nested coffins, Francis requested a single coffin of wood and zinc. The coming days will bring the gathering of cardinals from around the world as they prepare for the conclave – the secretive process where they'll elect the next pope in the Sistine Chapel. While the governance of the Church temporarily falls to the College of Cardinals, we stand at a moment of profound transition in Catholic leadership. Whether you're a devoted Catholic or simply fascinated by these ancient traditions, this unprecedented moment offers a rare glimpse into ceremonies typically shrouded in mystery. What surprises might the Holy Spirit have in store? Only time will tell.
