On this episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, I explain why I've shifted to a neutral stance on the Israel-Iran conflict. While mainstream media pressures us to “pick a side,” Scripture tells a deeper story, one that's not bound by modern borders or politics.Christians are the true Israel, not by race or nation, but by faith in Christ. The Church is the chosen people of God, not a geopolitical state. So why are we being told that standing with the a government equals standing with God?We'll unpack the phrase “Judeo-Christian”—what it really means (and what it doesn't)—and discuss how religiously manipulative narratives can cloud our judgment. Supporting everything any group does (whether Jewish, Christian, or Muslim) is not biblical discernment. It's idolatry.None of us are perfect. Not every Christian represents Christ well, and not every Jew or Muslim represents their faith's ideals either. So let's step back, seek the truth, and refuse to be emotionally blackmailed into blind allegiance.--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

We are often drawn to people who look successful and powerful, even in the church. But this morning James will remind us that God's kingdom does not belong to the elite of this world; God has chosen the poor to be heirs to his kingdom. Join us as the Spirit realigns our hearts with the heart of God.Matthew 2:3-8 (ESV)When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him; and assembling all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born. They told him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it is written by the prophet:“‘And you, O Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;for from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'”Then Herod summoned the wise men secretly and ascertained from them what time the star had appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, saying, “Go and search diligently for the child, and when you have found him, bring me word, that I too may come and worship him.”James 2:1-13 (ESV)My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called? If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it. For he who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
How do you think God looks at your spiritual life right now? Do you have confidence because you assume you’re doing better than others? I mean nobody’s perfect, but you’re certainly doing better than someone like, Randy, or Scotty right? Imagine you’re sitting in the back of a packed courtroom with a despicable criminal on trial for despicable crimes. The prosecutor has just finished his airtight case against the defendant, detailing every crime, misstep, and even private sin. You find yourself stunned by the evil this criminal has committed, and that the prosecutor has exposed. You’re nodding in agreement with the prosecutor, shaking your head in disgust at the guilty party. Then the judge points at you & asks the prosecutor, “Yeah that’s bad but isn’t this person over here just as bad?” Romans 2 is that moment. After Paul’s indictment of the pagan world in Romans 1, it’s easy for us to point fingers. We agree w/his condemnation of sexual immorality, murder, lying, slander etc., All of that is bad, all of us are guilty. But in chapter 2, Paul flips the script. The spotlight shifts, & now Paul puts religion & spirituality on trial! Whether you wear the mask of the religious, the enlightened, the spiritual, or see yourself as somehow politically, culturally, or intellectually superior in God’s eyes to anyone else, Paul deconstructs that folly completely.

Have you ever been on the wrong end of unfair treatment, bias, or one-sided favoritism? Was someone treated better than you because of their money or last name? This kind of favoritism is common in a sinful, secular world, but something is really wrong when this kind of prejudice shows up inside the church. In James chapter two, what does James say about discrimination and favoritism in the church? What are four reasons why favoritism is forbidden? (James, part 3)
PAUL'S EPISTLE TO THE ROMANS | The church in Rome had existed for some time and was made up of Jewish and non-Jewish followers. But at one point sometime between A.D. 41-53, Emperor Claudius expelled all of the Jewish people, including Christian Jews from Rome and then allowed them to return five years later (see Acts 18:2). When these Jews returned they found a church that had become very non-Jewish in custom and practice. This created lots of tension so that in Paul's day the Roman Church was divided. People disagreed about how to follow Jesus, they were debating about whether non-Jewish Christians should celebrate the sabbath, eat kosher, or be circumcised. So Paul wrote this letter to accomplish a few things. He wanted this divided church to become unified and for a practical purpose, he was hoping the church would become a staging ground for his mission to go even further west to Spain. For these reasons, Paul wrote Romans. Romans is Paul's fullest explanation of the gospel; the good news that he was announcing about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection and it's effect on Creation and the church.
Pastor Jonathan Barbee continues the series through the book of Acts. We look at chapter 10 and see that God has no favorites. God desires to reach all people and all nations. Ever picked favorites? Often times in life, we let our assumptions and judgments of appearance, social status, profession, wealth, gender, race and culture affect the value of another person. We all do it, but how serious is it? What can we do to stop it? In this message, we dive into James 2:1-13 to see what the cause and cure to favoritism really is. The story of Peter's encounter with a Roman soldier represents a turning point, not only in the Book of Acts but in the history of Christendom. When Jesus gave Peter the keys to the kingdom, He gave the Apostle the power to open the door to the Gentiles...and it all began with a vision and a Centurion named Cornelius. The gospel encountered many cultural, national, and racial barriers. Yet none of these were too big for God to breakthrough. The first obstacle was his own people. Part 9 from Acts 10.

I was saved at the age of sixteen by Jesus's death and resurrection, but I remained un-discipled for a few years until I attended a Bible college. My faith grew immensely due to the solid Bible teaching and professors who loved Jesus. However, I felt out of place on campus. Other students would gushingly share stories of how they were saved at the young age of five or seven. I couldn't relate to their experiences at summer Bible camps or youth group excursions. Because of this, I thought that somehow, I didn't belong..Even when I found a local church, I continued to feel out of place because I hadn't grown up in church. From the hymns, to the structure of services, to the overall “church culture,” it all seemed foreign to me. But even worse than feeling like I didn't belong was the idea that God couldn't impact others through my life because I was unfamiliar with the established culture of the church..I wish I'd known sooner that God does not show favoritism. Throughout the Bible, the Lord worked through people of various backgrounds and ages to spread the good news of His kingdom. From young Timothy, who was raised by his Christian mom and grandma but may have felt unqualified for church leadership because of his youth... to elderly Moses, who was raised by people who worshipped idols but was called by the Lord to lead Israel out of Egypt at the age of eighty, God does not have favorites..Throughout the Bible, God called shepherds, tentmakers, a doctor, people who had been demon-possessed, prostitutes, and even someone who had formerly persecuted Christians to tell the world of His grace through Jesus.* Today, He calls believers of all different backgrounds, ethnicities, experiences, and ages to be part of His good work. A person's ability to bring glory to the Lord is not based on when they were saved, but on the One who saved them. • Sophia Bricker.• Have you ever felt like you didn't belong in a group of Christians? Sadly, this happens to a lot of us. In times like these, how could it be helpful to remember how God sees us? .• What are some ways we can be hospitable to people who have a variety of life experiences? .• Have you ever felt unqualified to serve God because of your age or experiences? How could the stories of people in the Bible give you hope? (*If you want to dig deeper, read Luke 2:8-20; 8:1-3; John 20:11-18; Acts 18:2-3; Colossians 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:5; 3:15; Hebrews 11.).For God does not show favoritism. Romans 2:11 (NLT)
