Why are some Protestants drawn toward Roman Catholicism—and how should we think about the “one true church”? In this episode, Mark Vance launches a five-part series on the nature of the church, explaining why he remains a Protestant while seeking to speak with both clarity and charity about Catholicism.Mark walks through why historical rootedness feels especially compelling in shaky cultural moments, how true Christianity exists within the Roman Catholic Church, and yet why he believes certain teachings and practices obscure the gospel. He also introduces the four major reasons he's a Protestant: the nature of the true church, the history of the church, the question of authority, and the clarity of the gospel—setting the stage for the rest of the series.Episode Highlights:00:00 — Launching a five-part series: “Why Protestantism?” and why people are asking about Catholicism03:19 — True Christianity within Catholicism—and how some teachings can obscure the gospel08:55 — Overview of the four major reasons Mark remains a Protestant11:25 — The Protestant view of the “one true church” and the visible/invisible church distinction17:43 — How the Roman Catholic Church understands itself as the one true church (one, holy, catholic, apostolic)22:51 — Protestantism as a renewal movement within the one true church, not a competing “true church”24:19 — Are all Catholics saved? Article 29: The Marks of the True ChurchWe believe that we ought to discerndiligently and very carefully,by the Word of God,what is the true church—for all sects in the world todayclaim for themselves the name of “the church.”We are not speaking here of the company of hypocriteswho are mixed among the good in the churchand who nonetheless are not part of it,even though they are physically there. But we are speaking of distinguishingthe body and fellowship of the true churchfrom all sects that call themselves “the church.”The true church can be recognizedif it has the following marks:The church engages in the pure preachingof the gospel;it makes use of the pure administration of the sacramentsas Christ instituted them;it practices church disciplinefor correcting faults. In short, it governs itselfaccording to the pure Word of God,rejecting all things contrary to itand holding Jesus Christ as the only Head.By these marks one can be assuredof recognizing the true church—and no one ought to be separated from it.As for those who can belong to the church,we can recognize them by the distinguishing marks of Christians:namely by faith, and by their fleeing from sin and pursuing righteousness, once they have received the one and only Savior,Jesus Christ. They love the true God and their neighbors, without turning to the right or left, and they crucify the flesh and its works.Though great weakness remains in them, they fight against itby the Spiritall the days of their lives, appealing constantlyto the blood, suffering, death, and obedience of the Lord Jesus,in whom they have forgiveness of their sins, through faith in him.As for the false church,it assigns more authority to itself and its ordinancesthan to the Word of God;it does not want to subject itselfto the yoke of Christ;it does not administer the sacramentsas Christ commanded in his Word;it rather adds to them or subtracts from themas it pleases;it bases itself on humans, more than on Jesus Christ;it persecutes thosewho live holy lives according to the Word of Godand who rebuke it for its faults, greed, and idolatry. These two churchesare easy to recognizeand thus to distinguishfrom each other. For more information about this group, please visit their website at reformationboise.com. Transforming Perspectives | Rapture, a term some use to refer to the events of gathering of believers in the EndTimes, is the most scoffed term pertaining to Christianity, often, accompanying vivid imagery of men ominously ascending into the night sky. Be not dismayed by scorners nor scoffing! Bible Prophecy is certain, and several events will occur in which the Lord will gather believers to himself by the omnipotence of God.Jesus Christ exclaimed of these certain times and moments as signs of the End, exhorting of steadfastness in faith, remaining spiritually ready for his return. In Matthew's accounts, Jesus uses contrasts and comparisons of faithfulness, of similar persons actively working in the last days, yet some will ascend and some will remain. Notably, in this example, the Hebrew term, describes of being spiritually anchored relationally, in the Lord, saying, “Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.” Matthew 24:40-41, King James Version.Furthermore, Apostle Paul responds to believer's concerns, rebuking cynicism, events of believer's being raised at the trumpet's blast at the Lord's Return. Paul expresses of several gatherings, which are explained, as either ‘catching up or taken' in Scriptures. Formidably, Apostle Paul describes events aligning with John the Apostle's witness of the Lord's Return, and of God's great mercy of gathering those remaining during the great tribulation, having come into the Faith, “And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Send us a messageIn Part 4 of “The Harlot, The Beast, & The Seat of Rome, we address “The Spirit of Babylon” and how it has infiltrated every sector of the world under the authority of the “god” of this world. And how it is forming the rebuilt Tower of Babel through a demonic networking system that will operate under the auspices of the “One World Religion” of the Antichrist. This Harlot will be comprised of Roman Catholicism and the many other false ways she is drawing into her Babylonian web through her ecumenical endeavors. With all things already in place, it has become certain that the Tribulation Period is very close at hand – meaning that the Rapture of God's True Church is even closer. It is time to pay attention and to “look up” for our Redemption draws very near!Support the showVisit our website: https://agapelightministries.com/

Send us a messagefor those who are operating with Holy Spirit discernment, there is no doubt that we have reached the last prophetic minutes of the Last Hour. The dramatic events that mark God's End-time Calendar are unfolding all around us – with the next major event to take place being the Rapture of God's True Church. And while Scripturally proven, not only is the “Catching Up” of God's redeemed ones before the Tribulation Period of God's Wrath which will fall upon an unbelieving world - being challenged or denied by many in the Church – but even the reality that we are in the last prophetic moments leading to the End of the Age - and an eternity spent either with the Father in Heaven – or with the enemy of men's souls in the fires Hell - either being ignored or not believed, as well. It is an echo of the company of doubters Peter referred to in 2 Peter 3:4, where they cried out: “Where is the promise of His Coming? Forever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.”However, we have reached the moment in time when things are most certainly not as they were even a few decades ago. Prophecy is dramatically unfolding before our very eyes with confirmation that not only are we the last generation – but the only generation that can truly expect – and are even now witnessing - the final events Lord Jesus warned would take place just prior to His Return in the Second Coming – making the Rapture of His True Church even more imminent.Support the showVisit our website: https://agapelightministries.com/

On this episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, I explain why I've shifted to a neutral stance on the Israel-Iran conflict. While mainstream media pressures us to “pick a side,” Scripture tells a deeper story, one that's not bound by modern borders or politics.Christians are the true Israel, not by race or nation, but by faith in Christ. The Church is the chosen people of God, not a geopolitical state. So why are we being told that standing with the a government equals standing with God?We'll unpack the phrase “Judeo-Christian”—what it really means (and what it doesn't)—and discuss how religiously manipulative narratives can cloud our judgment. Supporting everything any group does (whether Jewish, Christian, or Muslim) is not biblical discernment. It's idolatry.None of us are perfect. Not every Christian represents Christ well, and not every Jew or Muslim represents their faith's ideals either. So let's step back, seek the truth, and refuse to be emotionally blackmailed into blind allegiance.--https://policecoffee.com/collections/coffee

In this episode, we speak with Matthew Johnston, Fellow at the Reformanda Initiative, to ask the big question: Is Rome a true church? Together, we explore the historic Reformed answer to this question, trace how the Reformers engaged with Rome in their own day, and discuss how things might look different—or surprisingly similar—after the Council of Trent, Vatican I, the Marian dogmas, and Vatican II.What would Calvin say if he walked into Rome today? And how should we, standing on the shoulders of the Reformation, faithfully answer in our time?Support the show
There are thousands of churches in America, and sadly most of them are just "trembling" churches: Afraid to preach the authentic gospels and the truths it proclaims. In his speech to the Faith Forward pastors summit, Charlie lays out what pastors must do to be true pastors leading true churches. He lays out how promoting controversial and challenging truths is exactly what will draw in young people and new believers, while saccharine lies will only keep people away while they follow the secular road to damnation.Support the show: http://www.charliekirk.com/supportSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode, Dr. Josh Philpot and Dr. Richard Caldwell examine the biblical foundation for church authority in light of Pope Francis' death and the election of a new pope. Dr. Caldwell addresses key questions about papal succession, the role of Peter, and the authority of Scripture versus church tradition. With clarity and conviction, he demonstrates that Christ—not any earthly figure—is the true head of the Church. The episode also explores justification by faith alone and challenges Roman Catholic teaching, offering encouragement for those coming out of tradition to follow Christ according to Scripture.

This week, my guest is Joseph Beard. Joseph is a catechumen and soon-to-be baptized Orthodox Christian. He grew up the son of a Baptist preacher, and his family moved from town to town as various controversies followed his father. Along the way, he got into various subculture scenes and was able to maintain his faith as God sprinkled breadcrumbs along the way that would ultimately lead him to the Orthodox church. Joseph discusses the push out of Protestantism and the pull into Christ's True Church in this episode, and it is a journey that I think you will find quite beautiful.
