Jesus was an advocate for the poor, the hungry, the sick and despairing, the forgotten and the powerless, right? If you want to see the Advocate Jesus sent, then look around you for those who look like that; look for the fruit they produce. Standing up for people this culture doesn't think are worth it is hard, painful work. But that's what the Advocate looks like, that's how the Spirit of Truth sounds. Every time you see someone standing up for the vulnerable, you've seen the Holy Spirit. Every time you hear a voice raised in opposition to oppression and violence, you've heard the Spirit of Truth. We are the presence of the Holy Spirit in the world. We put flesh on the abstraction. We incarnate the breath of God right here. I reflect on the Gospel of John and the significance of the Holy Spirit as the "Spirit of Truth," guiding believers toward a deeper understanding of faith. I connect the divine pedagogy of revealing truth in manageable doses to the life of St. Josemaría and the simple sacrifices of the visionaries of Fatima. Central to the discussion is the unity of the Blessed Trinity, illustrating how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work in perfect harmony to reveal wisdom. I explain the development of doctrine, comparing Christian revelation to a "deposit" that remains constant yet matures as the Church grows in insight. Ultimately, I encourage a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit to gain clarity, correct errors, and navigate life's complexities.

This week we continue our series for May called “Easter Spirit”. This series will focus on how we let the miracle of Easter change us. Our next message is “Spirit of Truth” and looks at how we carry the truth with us as we share the Gospel message. We consider the resurrection of Christ and all that it represents in our lives. Our scripture readings come from Acts 17:22-31; 1 Peter 3:13-22; John 14:15-21.

What if the Holy Spirit isn't the hall monitor you've been hiding from, but the Helper who's been trying to set you free? In John 16:8-15, Jesus reveals something revolutionary: the Spirit's conviction isn't meant to shame you into hiding like Adam and Eve in the bushes. It's meant to liberate you like the Prodigal Son running home. The Spirit nudges you because He's intimate with you—He knows the person God created you to be, and He loves you too much to let you settle for less. Conviction isn't a weapon to wound you. It's a gift of intimacy to heal you. The difference? Shame says "you ARE bad." Conviction says "this is BENEATH who you were created to be." That nudge you've been feeling? Don't run from it. That's the Familiar Stranger calling you into freedom, not condemnation. What's been nudging your heart lately?

The Holy Spirit guides me into all truth, established in the Word of God, to live in right relationship with God and others.

John 16:12-13 12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

Remember God loves you so much he sent his Son Jesus Christ to take the punishment for your sins. You are of great value. Jesus loves you and He is just a prayer away!

As Jesus prepared for his death, resurrection, and ultimate ascension, his followers were understandably worried. What would they do without Jesus by their side? Who was going to teach them? How would they know what was true? Jesus' promise in response to these worries was that God would give them “another Advocate,” the Holy Spirit, to be with them forever. This promise, which remains true for all Christ-followers even today, is a profound one: that the very presence of Christ would dwell within his followers, guiding them into the truth. In a time like ours, filled with untruths, misinformation, and teachers with hidden motives, it can sometimes feel like “Truth stumbles in the streets, and honesty has been outlawed” (Isaiah 59:14). But with God's Spirit guiding us, we can find truth through Scripture, through teaching, through the voice of God in our hearts, and through the words of other believers. What might it look like to invite the Spirit of Truth to dwell more richly in us this year than ever before? ------------------------------------------
