No Religion Required to Worship the CreatorThis episode from the Network of Awareness spirituality series explores the possibility and implications of worshiping a creator outside the boundaries of organized religion. The host, ORRA The Informationalist, discusses the universal and transcendent concept of a higher power and how this connection can be deeply personal and not necessarily tethered to religious doctrines. It explores how individuals can craft their own spiritual narrative through self-reflection, meditation, and mindfulness. The episode also covers the role of religious teachings, the limitations of language in describing the divine, the various aspects of personal faith and worship, ethics, and the notion of proselytizing, among other topics. Or reinforces the idea that spirituality is a deeply personal journey, and that a connection with a higher power does not necessarily require religious affiliation or adherence to any particular set of doctrines.00:00 Introduction to the Concept of Worshiping a Creator00:57 The Role of Religion in Worship01:28 The Journey of Acknowledging a Creator Outside Organized Religion02:37 The Internal Journey of Connection with the Creator03:17 The Role of Spirituality in Worship Without Organized Religion04:04 The Significance of Religious Teaching in Personal Worship04:59 The Role of Community in Worship Without Organized Religion05:51 The Universal Nature of Spirituality06:14 Challenges in the Journey of Personal Worship07:53 The Role of Spiritual Practices in Personal Worship08:23 The Essence of Truth in Worship Without Organized Religion08:58 The Limitations of Human Language in Describing the Divine09:47 The Unity Underlying Religious Diversity10:16 The Role of Religious Institutions in Personal Worship10:59 The Nature of Salvation and Enlightenment in Personal Worship12:37 The Role of Faith in Personal Worship13:22 The Nature of Ritual in Personal Worship14:07 The Dichotomy Between the Sacred and the Secular14:20 The Role of Moral Guidance in Personal Worship15:04 The Notion of Proselytizing in Personal Worship15:43 Conclusion: The Personal Journey of WorshipBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/show/network-of-awareness/support.

Rakeem is the host of The Outer Voices podcast, a show that just celebrated its 100th episode. We first heard Rakeem on an episode of No Religion Required when he talked about French Camp with Morgan Stringer. Rakeem is from Mississippi and moved to Brooklyn to go to law school. Condolences. Their show (since there are three hosts) talks about social justice and sex in an informative and educational manner. Plus they have musical guests. His take on the Dave Chappelle Netflix special controversy is worth the price of admission. This week we heard that ReasonCon, an atheist convention in Hickory, North Carolina would not return next year as promised. I attended the second and third versions of the conference, after hearing about the first one on No Religion Required. It was a great gathering in which I met a lot of my online friends and now we need to find a new place to get together. I can't track down that recording at the moment but if I find it, I will add it to the notes. I included the link to the Chrisiousity/David Smalley discussion on sexual assault allegations. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBuyDcQN5P4&t=2353s Support me on Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/zachrilege Itunes https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/zachrilege-cast/id996785602?mt=2 Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/zachrilege

Bobby and Ashley come on to discuss the show that was, how the show helped Ashley out of religion, why her joining the show made it a show, the cavalcade of co-hosts, how Ashley brought Alex out of a bar to pray for her mother, a NaNoCon 2018 review, how Bobby got to marry off Callie and Celes and whose hair led them to continue this podcasting life. My guest for today is James Croft. According to his bio, “James Croft is a Humanist activist and public speaker who has swiftly become one of the best-known new faces in Humanism today. He is a graduate of the Universities of Cambridge and Harvard, and is recently completed his Doctorate at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. As a leader in training in the Ethical Culture movement – a national movement of Humanist congregations – he is an in-demand public speaker, an engaging teacher, and a passionate activist for human rights. James is a committed Humanist and a Humanist Celebrant, who wants to build communities which foster the development of non-religious social capital and give naturalists the space to come together and appreciate each other more deeply. To further this aim, James works as the Outreach Director of the Ethical Society of St. Louis – one of the largest Humanist communities in the world. He believes that society is desperately in need of living communities dedicated to human flourishing and freedom.” And today I’ve got him on the show to talk about why humanism and social justice should go hand-in-hand.Links:•Ethical Society of St. Louis: https://ethicalstl.org/ •Temple of the Future: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/templeofthefuture/ •No Religion Required: https://www.spreaker.com/show/no-religion-required_1 •Help a Five-Year-Old Go to School: https://www.gofundme.com/help-a-fiveyearold-go-to-school •Fund for the Smith Girls: https://www.gofundme.com/helpthesmithgirls •The Trans Podcaster Visibility Initiative: https://www.facebook.com/transvisiblepodcaster/ •Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.ashersilberman.com/ •My Twitter: http://twitter.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bianymeanspod •Bi Any Means on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bianymeanspodcast •The Bi Any Means/Biskeptical Podcast Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/179617892470906/ •Email: bianymeanspodcast@gmail.com •Listener line: 410-690-3558 •My Patreon page: http://www.patreon.com/tmamone•PayPal link: http://paypal.me/tmamone •Bi Any Means Blog: http://freethoughtblogs.com/bianymeans/

My guest for today is Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza, a radical trans queer Latinx public theologian. Here's what their bio says: “Knowing intimately that the borderlands are a place of learning and growth, Robyn draws on their identity and heritage as a Transqueer Latinx in everything that they do. From doubt to divine and everywhere in between, their call as an activist-theologian demands the vision to disrupt hegemony and colonialist structures of multi-layered oppressions. As an anti-oppression, anti-racist, non-binary Trans*gressive Latinx, Robyn takes seriously their call as an activist theologian and ethicist to bridge together theories and practices that result in communities responding to pressing social concerns. Robyn sees this work as a life-orienting vocation, deeply committed to translating theory to action, and embedded in re-imagining our moral horizon to one which privileges a politics of radical difference.” Which is why Robyn’s joining me today to talk about everything they do!Links:•Robyn’s website: http://www.irobyn.com/ •Robyn’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/publictheologian/ •Robyn’s Twitter page: https://twitter.com/activistheology •No Religion Required: http://www.spreaker.com/user/noreligionrequiredpod •Dream Youth: http://dreamyouth.bandcamp.com •Asher Silberman: http://www.ashersilberman.com/ •My Twitter: http://twitter.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means on Twitter: http://twitter.com/bianymeanspod •Bi Any Means on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/bianymeanspodcast •The Bi Any Means/Biskeptical Podcast Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/179617892470906/ •Email: bianymeanspodcast@gmail.com •Listener line: 410-690-3558 •My Patreon page: http://www.patreon.com/tmamone •Bi Any Means Blog: http://freethoughtblogs.com/bianymeans/

My guest for today is Aaron Rabinowitz, co-host of the new podcast Embrace the Void. Here’s what the official description of the show says: “Welcome friends, to a podcast for a darker timeline. Maybe the darkest of all timelines. Definitely not one of the good timelines. Maybe it’s always been a dark timeline, maybe the Hadron collider screwed us over. Science may never know. What we do know is that we live in the void. The void, a place where a chittering mass of void crabs can infest a person suit and win the presidency. The void, a place where we're just clever enough to know that climate change is happening, but not quite clever enough to do anything about it. The void seems terrible and cruel, but it loves you, in its own ironic way.” So today we’re going to talk about philosophy, religion, and what it means to embrace the Void.Links:•Embrace the Void: https://voidpod.com •ETV on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/EmbraceTheVoidPod/ •ETV on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ETVPod •Ashton P. My guest for today is my Facebook friend Rachel Best. She’s a pastor’s kid who is now an out bisexual polyamorous atheist, so today’s episode is going to be about her journey. Welcome to another scintillating episode of The Podunk Polymath Podcast! I talk on te pre-ramble about two firsts, and also about some stories in the news that are less than pleasant, one new and one ongoing. I have the pleasure on the palaver of speaking with two podcasters that I like and admire a great deal : Ari Stillman and Jeremiah Traeger, who both are on podcasts of their own (The Gaytheist Manifesto and No Religion Required, respectively) but have now joined together to form the irreverent but hilarious and topical SJW Circle Jerk. We have a wide ranging discussion about making fun of ourselves and the limits of such humor. And there's lots of childish behavior, mostly from Jeremiah. We also find out that Ari doesn't do well under pressure, like giving funny and original outros. I think you will agree that this is one of the best episodes of TPPP yet! Bobby and Ashley’s stories converge after years of abuse and soul-searching, where they have found love, solace, and community unlike any they ever knew apart from each other.
