Author and Mishpacha magazine writer Barbara Bensoussan is back on “613 Books” podcast, this time to discuss her new book, “Seven Blessings and a Murder.” This is a thrilling novel featuring a colorful assortment of family members from England, France, and the U.S. who converge in Jerusalem for the wedding. Some of the relatives are devoutly religious and some are casually traditional. Some are wealthy, and some are cash-strapped. Some have Moroccan family roots, some with Syrian roots. Despite the inevitable clashes of culture, the wedding goes off in picture-perfect style. And then the unthinkable happens. A family member turns up dead, under suspicious circumstances. The celebration turns into a crime scene! Talk about ‘Whodunit!' Life is complicated, and with life experiences come complex emotions. But embracing conflicting emotions with strategies such as paradoxical thinking can make all the difference. This is the topic that therapist, dating coach and columnist Sara Eisemann wanted to DMC with us on this episode because she knew the life-changing impact of “both/and” thinking, which looks something like this: “I'm both so grateful for my son's bar mitzvah and overwhelmed hosting my family.” Instead of fighting those conflicting emotions, we embrace them – and drop the guilt. You'll learn about this and more in this fascinating conversation. In this episode we discuss: What Sara's aims to accomplish in all the work she does, from clinical therapist to Family First columnist to Director of Education for Core. What “both/and” means and how it can be applied to life experiences Typical paradoxes in our lives and how we can make space for them How to handle negative emotions in a healthy way The role of acceptance We love hearing from our listeners. She is also the physician at The Confident Kallah, a telemedicine gynecology practice focused on the needs of Jewish women who observe Taharat Ha'Mishpacha. An experienced, board-certified OB/GYN, Dr. Elissa Hellman, has been in practice for over ten years in Milwaukee, WI. She received her medical degree from NYU and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset. She is also the physician at The Confident Kallah, a telemedicine gynecology practice focused on the needs of Jewish women who observe Taharat Ha'Mishpacha. Throughout her years as a clinician, she noticed a gap in women's health awareness and education. This developed into a special interest in patient education and being a resource for the Jewish community in relation to body awareness and women's preventative health, starting from a young age. _______________________________________________________ B'Shaa Tova: The Confident Kallah Part 3 with Dr. Elissa Hellman https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/vdffQ4MgRBb After The Chuppah: The Confident Kallah Part 2 with Dr. Elissa Hellman https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/seTYDqfanxb The Confident Kallah: Fostering Healthy Sexuality in Our Daughters with Dr. Elissa Hellman https://anchor.fm/jowma/episodes/The-Confident-Kallah-Fostering-Healthy-Sexuality-in-Our-Daughters-with-Dr--Elissa-Hellman-el5mk3 Birth Stories with Nechama Nerenberg, Doula https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/e6nOopy7SBb _______________________________________________________ Become a JOWMA Member! www.jowma.org Follow us on Instagram! www.instagram.com/JOWMA_org Follow us on Twitter! www.twitter.com/JOWMA_med Follow us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/JOWMAorg/ Stay up-to-date with JOWMA news! Is this the first emergency podcast in KMFFL history? Someone sound off in the slack. Late Sunday evening we got a Woj Bomb from KMFFL's own woj, Qewman. A detailed investigation has uncovered a secret society hiding in plain sight among the Kemp Mill Elite (itself a gated community – technically they don't live behind gates but you get it). 7 families joined into 1, and have anointed themselves The Mishpacha. Who are the 7 families? Which family began the assembly? Are the T and M capitalized in the title of their whatsapp group? What will Qewman drop next? Is The Mishpacha a Russian Hoax? A Ukranian Hoax??? A QATARI HOAX?!?!?! (Hamevin Yavin.) The KMFFL Podcast convened with a special guest to discuss all that and more, in four distinct sections. 1) Haircut, D-Fish, and special guest waffle about nothing, wish Mazal Tovs and gut shabosses, and onboard a new show into The KMFFL Podcast Network 2) #TheMishpacha (with special guest & Qewman) 3) What is Kemp Mill Elite (with special guest & Qewman) 4) Haircut and D-Fish talk keepers (because this is a fantasy pod, isn't it?) Read the article about Haircut's great-grandpa here (you won't believe the title of this bad boy, but don't click the link until after you finish the ep). _______________________________________________________ After The Chuppah: The Confident Kallah Part 2 with Dr. Elissa Hellman https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/seTYDqfanxb The Confident Kallah: Fostering Healthy Sexuality in Our Daughters with Dr. Elissa Hellman https://anchor.fm/jowma/episodes/The-Confident-Kallah-Fostering-Healthy-Sexuality-in-Our-Daughters-with-Dr--Elissa-Hellman-el5mk3 _______________________________________________________ Become a JOWMA Member! www.jowma.org Follow us on Instagram! www.instagram.com/JOWMA_org Follow us on Twitter! www.twitter.com/JOWMA_med Follow us on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/JOWMAorg/ Stay up-to-date with JOWMA news! In this episode of Kosher Money, we explore the topic of making aliyah and the financial implications of moving to Israel. Our guest, Yaakov Ehrenkranz, a financial advisor who specializes in helping new and veteran olim adjust to the financial reality in Israel, provides us with valuable insights into the costs, opportunities, and challenges of making aliyah.Aliyah is a Hebrew term that refers to the act of Jewish people immigrating to Israel, either for religious or cultural reasons. The term aliyah literally means "ascending" or "going up," and it is used to signify the return of Jews to their ancestral homeland. Making aliyah involves a significant life change, as it often involves leaving behind one's home country and adapting to a new culture, language, and way of life in Israel.• To contact Yaakov, email Yaakov@Labinsky.com • To learn more about Nefesh B'Nefesh, visit https://www.nbn.org.il/✬ SPONSORS OF THIS EPISODE ✬► COLEL CHABAD: Please help Israel's neediest!
