Salat und Gemüse esse ich gerne, bin aber ein Obstmuffel, es sei denn, es ist kleingeschnitten. Das ist aber kein Grund, bei meinen vielen Fahrten in U- und S-Bahn ein Messer mitzuführen und sei es auch noch so klein! Sie ahnen, worauf ich hinauswill: Seit einiger Zeit haben wir in Berlin drei Messerverbotszonen. In Gebieten am Görlitzer Park, Kottbusser Tor und am Leopoldplatz im Wedding ist das Führen von Waffen und Messern verboten. Mitte Juni zog der Senat Bilanz: In den drei Messer- und Waffenverbotszonen, die Anfang des Jahres eingerichtet wurden, hat die Polizei in den ersten vier Monaten 42 Messer beschlagnahmt. Immerhin! Doch frage ich mich, ob man diese Verbotszonen nicht ausweiten sollte, meinetwegen über die ganze Stadt. Und stichprobenartig immer wieder Kontrollen. Wer muss bitte Schusswaffen, Reizstoff- und Signalwaffen, Pfeilabschussgeräte, Armbrüste, Hieb- und Stoßwaffen oder eben ein Messer bei sich haben? Ein Jäger oder ein Koch auf dem Weg zur Arbeit? Das würde sich wohl klären lassen. Wir sind einfach in einer Situation, die noch vor 10 Jahren nicht denkbar war. Fast täglich hören wir von Angriffen auf Passanten, oft und - eben so einfach - mit einem Messer. In ganz Deutschland erfasste die Polizei im letzten Jahr insgesamt 29.000 Messerangriffe! Der Arche-Gründer Pastor Bernd Siggelkow, der sich ganz der Hilfe von benachteiligten Kindern und Jugendlichen gewidmet hat, warnt sehr drastisch von einem ‚Krieg im eigenen Land‘. Da es oft junge Leute, meist junge Männer sind, die schnell zum Messer greifen, müssten wir uns intensiver Gedanken darüber machen, wie wir damit weiter umgehen und wie man diese jungen Menschen erreicht, sagt Siggelkow und warnt vor Kürzungen im Bildungs- und Jugendbereich. Morgen ist Weltfrauentag - und was könnte zu diesem Anlass ein schöneres Geschenk sein als eine neue Kurzgeschichte von Margaret Atwood? Die kanadische Autorin gilt Leserinnen auf der ganzen Welt als literarische Stimme eines wachen und warnenden Feminismus. Ihr dystopischer Roman "Der Report der Magd" ist vor 40 Jahren erschienen und nicht nur Kultbuch und Vorlage für eine Kultserie, sondern längst ein Klassiker. Inzwischen ist Margaret Atwood 85 Jahre alt. Neben Romanen schreibt sie auch Essays und von Herzen gern Kurzgeschichten. "Hieb und Strich" heißt die gerade ins Deutsche übersetzte Geschichte, die Sarah Murrenhoff heute vorstellt.

Nach der griechischen Sage war der Gordische Knoten ein kunstvoll geschlungenes Seil, das den Streitwagen des Königs Gordios mit dem Zugjoch der Pferde verband. In einem Orakel soll vorhergesagt worden sein, derjenige werde die Herrschaft über Asien erringen, der diesen scheinbar unentwirrbaren Knoten lösen könne. Viele Männer versuchten sich an dieser Aufgabe, aber keinem gelang es. Auf seinem Feldzug gegen Persien soll Alexander der Große mit dem Problem konfrontiert worden sein. Doch statt an dem Knoten herumzufingern, nahm er der Sage nach einfach sein Schwert und durchtrennte ihn mit einem Hieb. Damit habe er seinen Siegeszug durch Asien eingeläutet. So ist die Redewendung »den Gordischen Knoten durchschlagen« sprichwörtlich dafür geworden »ein schwieriges Problem durch unkonventionelle oder energische Mittel zu lösen«.Unsere Welt ist voller Gordischer Knoten. Trotz aller Friedensbemühungen reißt die Kette blutiger Kriege nicht ab. Viele machen sich Sorgen wegen der Klimaerwärmung und den möglichen Folgen. Der Nahe Osten gleicht einem Pulverfass. Alle Versuche, dauerhafte Lösungen zu finden, sind gescheitert.In der Bibel ist aber tatsächlich von einem Mann die Rede, der alle Gordischen Knoten dieser Welt lösen wird: Jesus Christus. Er wird »kommen in seiner Herrlichkeit und alle Engel Gottes mit ihm« (Matthäus 24,31). Er hat die Macht und auch die moralische Größe, dauerhaften Frieden auf dieser Erde zu installieren. Dazu wird er seine Engel aussenden und aus seinem Reich alle entfernen, die ein gesetzloses Leben geführt und andere zur Sünde verleitet haben (vgl. Matthäus 13,41).
