Nathan has been digging into the National Electrical Code. He stresses the importance of verbiage in codes. A word as simple as “all” can have an enormous impact on interpretation. For example, Webster and Ron discuss with Nathan a weird transition in Texas electrical and mechanical rooms from using occupancy sensors to timer switches and how, if you are a worker in that room and you aren't familiar with the system when the lights go out, you won't know what the heck is going on. Listen to this thought provoking episode to hear more! Nathan Williams is a lighting controls field service engineer with over 16 years of controls experience. Throughout his career, he has held certifications with 11 different lighting controls manufacturers, and he also holds NALMCO's CLCP and CSLT certifications along with Tridium's Niagara AX certification. Nathan is the senior field service engineer at CW Lighting, a lighting fixtures and controls manufacturers' rep firm that has been in the industry for 40 years. Nathan entered the lighting industry at 20, building upon his background in technical theater. He has earned a reputation for attention to detail, troubleshooting expertise, and excellent customer service, and he currently serves on the Wattstopper technician advisory council. He lives in Spring, TX with his wife and their two cats, and in his spare time, he chairs his neighborhood Architectural Review Committee, enjoys fine tuning his home automation, and is always looking forward to his next Caribbean cruise.

Forget what you've heard about treats, stress-free playtime, or steering clear of stressful situations—Nathan's approach involves not playing with your dog, skipping the snack bribes, and even taking a page out of the horse whisperer's playbook.Whether your fur baby's a barker, a chewer, or just a little too attached, Nathan's got some wild advice that just might make you see your four-legged friend in a whole new way. Prepare for a few laughs, a few “aha” moments, and maybe a moment of awkward eye contact with your dog as you wonder… is it really you?

Welcome back to The Daily Mastermind, where you get your daily dose of inspiration, motivation, and education. This is George Wright III, and I hope you're as excited to start this week as I am. Reflecting on last week's phenomenal Academy live event with world-class speakers like Nathan Williams, Baron Baptiste, Forbes Riley, and Greg Anderson made me realize the importance of grounding ourselves with clear principles. With that in mind, I want to kick off this week by diving into the 12 Prosperity Principles I've cultivated over decades of learning from the best. 1. I Create My Life The legendary Jim Rohn once said, "We all have two choices: We can make a living or we can design a life." Your thoughts create your reality. When you truly embrace the idea that you create your life, you become proactive in shaping a future that aligns with your dreams. 2. I Take Personal Responsibility Taking responsibility is crucial for taking control over your life. As Tony Robbins points out, "It's in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped." Accept the consequences of your choices and use that empowerment to drive your future actions. 3. I Act in Spite of My Mood Bruce Lee famously said, "The successful warrior is the average man with laser-like focus." Success requires action, even when you don't feel like it. Overcome inertia and act despite your mood to carve out a future others only dream of. 4. I Surround Myself with Positive People Your environment profoundly impacts your journey. Ensure that you're surrounded by positive influences, whether through podcasts, music, or relationships. Construct an environment that aligns with your goals and dreams. 5. I Focus on Solutions Your perception shapes your reality. Instead of harping on problems, concentrate on solutions. If you dream it, you can achieve it, but the key is maintaining a solution-focused mindset. 6. I Create an Attitude of Abundance As Winston Churchill observed, "Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference." An abundant mindset isn't born out of scarcity but from recognizing the wealth that surrounds us. Focus on what you have to cultivate more of what you want. 7. I Choose to Be Happy "Happiness is not a destination but a path," Wayne Dyer wisely said. Happiness is a choice. Shift your goals from controlling circumstances to controlling your decisions and happiness will follow. 8. I Always Think Win-Win Reframe your mindset to believe in win-win situations. Wayne Dyer noted, "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change." Embrace abundance and believe in mutual success to draw like-minded individuals towards you. 9. I Am Committed to Lifelong Learning Knowledge is power, but applied knowledge leads to transformation. Learning plus application equals experience, which shapes your beliefs. Commit to continual learning and active application to evolve and succeed. 10. I Create Daily Rituals Success is built on successful habits. Determine the daily rituals that will propel you towards your goals, whether it's meditating, working out, or specific professional tasks. Establish and maintain positive habits to create success. 11. I Attract Success Jim Rohn said, "Success is not to be pursued but attracted by the person you become." Rather than chasing success, focus on becoming a better person. Attract success through self-improvement and evolving your mindset. 12. I Visualize and Manifest My Life Clarity precedes creation. Understand what you want before striving to achieve it. Visualization and manifestation aren't about productivity but about precisely knowing and focusing on your goals to avoid running in circles. Final Thoughts I've shared these 12 Prosperity Principles with you to help ground and focus your week ahead. If you need a refresher during the week, feel free to revisit this post. In this video, hosted by professional poker player Nathan Williams, he discusses the common mistakes that players make when handling pocket aces and how to maximize their value. The objective is to equip viewers with strategies to prevent costly mistakes in their poker games, focusing on three specific errors: slow playing pre-flop with pocket aces, getting tricky post-flop, and failing to fold versus tight players. The first segment highlights the danger of slow playing pocket aces during pre-flop and the potential of this strategy to cause losses. Nathan demonstrates with an example and emphasizes the need to adopt a straightforward play, enticing opponents to overthink the situation. The host further discredits any attempts to introduce unnecessary trickery into one's game, noting that such maneuvers aren't effective against the majority of players who play at a basic “strength of their hand” level. Following this, Nathan outlines the second strategy, advising players not to get tricky post-flop with pocket aces. He stresses the importance of maintaining a simple approach throughout the game, giving an example to demonstrate how a convoluted strategy can drastically minimize winnings. Nathan also underscores the need to maximize rewards when presented with an opportune hand. In the final segment, Nathan addresses playing against "knits" or tight players, advising viewers to be prepared to fold their hands in such scenarios. A knit player usually bets big when they have a strong hand, making it crucial to limit losses when your hand isn't the best. Nathan provides a practical example, explaining that while maximizing pocket ace winnings is vital, it is equally important to cut losses. Throughout the video, the link to Poker Tracker is provided, a program that Nathan uses to showcase winnings and losses tied to specific hands played. The video encourages viewers to learn from Nathan's extensive experiences and avoid repeating these common missteps in their poker games.

As we enter this Advent season, we may be faced with a new way of doing things, new circumstances, or even new grief. Sometimes the words and structure of others can help bring new life to our prayers and spiritual practices. Sometimes liturgy, the set form of a religious experience, can offer a scaffolding we didn't even know we needed. We invited Kayla Craig into our conversation about the power of borrowed prayers. When someone else's words speak to our spirits, we can experience the Body of Christ in a powerful way. This time of year, Advent, lends itself especially well to introducing "borrowed prayers" into our rhythms. We remember the saints before us and those who celebrate and remember Christ's first arrival still today. As you consider what it means to introduce liturgy into your season, we pray that it gives you a rich connection to the Church and to your own practices of remembering the birth of Christ as we wait for his return. Connect with Kayla On Instagram here and here. This is her substack and her website.   A few things mentioned Kayla's new book for families, Every Season Sacred: Reflections, Prayers, and to Nourish Your Soul and Nurture Your Family Throughout the Year From Strength to Strength by Arthur Brooks Great Prayer of Thanksgiving based on Luke 1:46-55 Submitted by Rev. Nathan Williams , Covenant Presbyterian Church, West Des Moines, IA liturgylink  We praise your greatness, O Lord, and our spirits rejoice in you, our Savior. You looked with favor on your unlikely servant Mary, and she delivered a blessing for all generations. You, the Almighty, have done great things, and your name is ever holy. From the depth of your compassion, you gave life to Jesus, your Son, who came to show mercy on those who need you most, from generation to generation. His perfect love showed your strength, and his humility made the proud stumble. His death cast down from their thrones the powers of death, and his resurrection lifted humanity up from the lowliness of the grave. Come upon us now with your Holy Spirit, and let your power overshadow this meal, O Most High. As we share this bread and cup, fill us with the life of Jesus Christ. May we bear him into the world once again, so that we may empty ourselves of unjust wealth and fill the hungry with good things. Make us your servant people, signs of your promise of mercy, in the name of the coming Christ. We pray in his name, saying… (The Lord's Prayer) Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial, and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and forever. Amen.   Every Moment Holy A Liturgy for the Christmas Season   Questions to consider Are borrowed prayers helpful for me? Do they feel comforting? Do they give words to my feelings and experiences? How might I experience a liturgical church service in a way that brings me closer to the saints around the world? How does my own faith story impact my worship style?
