Blessed Winter Solstice and happy Yule! The invocation from HP Amy Hardy-McAdams at the city council meeting:As a Priestess of the Goddess, I invoke the Gorgonaea, champions of equality and sacred rage. I call to Medusa, monstrous hero of the oppressed and abused. I open the Eye of Medusa, the stare that petrifies injustice.I call upon the serpent that rises from this land to face the Stars, the movement of wisdom unbound.May these leaders find within themselves the Embodied Divine, the sacred essence of the spark of the Universe and the breath of the Awen.Place in the hands of these leaders the sacred work of protecting the sovereignty and autonomy of all our people.Gorgon Goddess, make them ready and willing to be champions for all in this city, not just those in power.Shine a light for them, that they may walk the path of justice, protected and prepared, illuminating the darkness.Endow them with the fire of courage, the waters of compassion, the air of truth, and the strength of the earth itself. As Above, so below. As within, so without. As the universe, so the soul.May there be peace among you all.And so it is.Got a question? Psalm 72 Of Solomon. 1 Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness. 2 May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice. 3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness. 4 May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor. 5 May he endure[a] as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations. 6 May he be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. 7 In his days may the righteous flourish and prosperity abound till the moon is no more. 8 May he rule from sea to sea and from the River[b] to the ends of the earth. 9 May the desert tribes bow before him and his enemies lick the dust. 10 May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts. 11 May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him. 12 For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. 13 He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. 14 He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight. 15 Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him. May people ever pray for him and bless him all day long. 16 May grain abound throughout the land; on the tops of the hills may it sway. May the crops flourish like Lebanon and thrive[c] like the grass of the field. 17 May his name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun. Then all nations will be blessed through him,[d] and they will call him blessed. 18 Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds. 19 Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen. 20 This concludes the prayers of David son of Jesse

In this episode, we continue with part two of our study on Christifideles Laici. We chat about unity within the Catholic Church, the role of your local parish, and the importance of community. We reflect on how easy it is to focus on the differences we encounter instead of the beauty of its complementarity and rich diversity. We discuss the need to restore the culture and how participation in our parish communities can build communion and encourage others to develop an authentic love of Jesus. Heather's One Thing - Family photos taken by Laura-Anne Heather's Other One Thing - The song Pure Abbie Gamboa from Upper Room Sister Miriam's One Thing - The Godsplaining Podcast with Fr. Gregory Pine Michelle's One Thing - Lavender Lemonade and Lavender Lemonade Cupcakes (Gluten Free Version Here). This is the lavender syrup I used. Discussion Questions: What is your investment in your local parish? How have you engaged with the Church with a consumerist mentality? Where in my heart do I fall into divisive thinking about the Church? What gifts and charisms is God inviting you to use in service of the Church? Journal Questions: How have I experienced communion with my parish and the Body of Christ at large? Am I allowing the gifts and preferences of others to be seen in the lens of complementarity? Am I praying for communion and revival within the Church? Quotes to Ponder: 'Communion' speaks of a double, lifegiving participation: the incorporation of Christians into the life of Christ, and the communication of that life of charity to the entire body of the Faithful, in this world and in the next, union with Christ and in Christ, and union among Christians, in the Church" (Christifideles Laici Paragraph 19) A member of the lay faithful "can never remain in isolation from the community, but must live in a continual interaction with others, with a lively sense of fellowship, rejoicing in an equal dignity and common commitment to bring to fruition the immense treasure that each has inherited. (Christifideles Laici Paragraph 20) Scripture for Lectio: “Abide in me and I in you” John 15:4 Sponsor - Endow Endow seeks to educate women toward a more profound understanding of their God-given dignity through study in small group communities of faith and friendship. John Paul II once said: “Woman has a genius all her own which is vitally essential to both society and the Church.” The Church needs you to be empowered to cultivate the feminine genius in every aspect of life and society. There are women just like you looking for friendship and who are looking to learn from the intellectual tradition of the Church. Be transformed by studying John Paul II's On the Dignity and Vocation of Women in an 8, 10, or 12-week Endow group. Start or join a group with other women to ponder the anthropology of man and woman, God's intention for their relationship, woman's vocation to motherhood, and the Church as Bride of Christ. Visit endowgroups.org for more resources on how to join or start your own Endow group.

Elevates! Trust all is well, well is all! Original Lord's Prayer [1892]: "O, Cosmic Birther of all radiance and vibration, softer the ground of our being and carve out within us a Space where Your presence can abide. Fill us with your creativity, so that we may be empowered to bear the fruit of our mission. Let each of our actions bear fruit in accordance to our desire. Endow us with the wisdom to produce and share what each being needs to grow and flourish. Untie the tangled threads of destiny that binds us, as we release others from the entanglement of past mistakes. Do not let us be seduced by that which will divert us from our true purpose, but illuminate the opportunities of the present moment. For you are the ground and a fruitful vision. Annette Bergeon, Executive Director of Endow (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women) shares about her search for true happiness. As a child Annette noted how many of her family members were holding on to disappointments and traumas of life and, therefore, their unhappiness. After personally looking for happiness in degrees and career success, Annette found herself facing an interpersonal crisis: she wasn't truly happy. Annette gave birth to twins and left her career. While she recognizes many women are called to both work and motherhood, she discovered through prayer that God was calling her to be a stay-at-home mom. Annette discovered true happiness was not found in titles, but in the intimacy of relationships and care of other souls. Annette eventually joined a small group with Endow--Endow made such an impact on her life that she later began working with Endow and is now the Executive Director.
Mallory Smyth of Walking with Purpose and author of “Rekindled: How Jesus Called Me Back to the Catholic Church and Set My Heart on Fire,” shares her personal testimony of questioning and later returning to the Catholic Church. Mallory discovered her heart had become ablaze with the love of Jesus, accompanied by a passionate desire to share this love with others. Mallory and Host Lindy Wynne explore many realities that cause heartache and make it hard to be Catholic, like the sex scandal and youth groups children and teens don't want to attend. Explore how you can engage more fully in your own relationship with God and our Catholic Church and encourage your children to fall in love when witnessing your own heart on fire for Jesus.
