In this podcast episode of the Post Status Happiness Hour, Michelle Frechette is joined by her friend and WordPress security expert, Kathy Zant. They delve into various aspects of website security, focusing on WordPress. Kathy discusses her recent security courses aimed at demystifying WordPress for beginners and emphasizes the importance of proactive security measures. They highlight the critical role of regular backups and the potential risks of automated updates. Kathy shares practical security tips, such as using strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication. The episode is both informative and engaging, filled with personal anecdotes and humor, making it a valuable resource for listeners.Top Takeaways: Importance of Security: Both Michelle and Kathy emphasize the importance of understanding and implementing robust security measures to protect websites from hacks.Criminal Behavior: Kathy highlights that criminals (including hackers) often look for the easiest targets. If a website or home has visible security measures, they are more likely to move on to an easier target. However, if a determined attacker sees something of value, they might still find a way in despite the security measures.Auto Updates: Kathy advises against relying solely on automated updates, especially for websites that are crucial for business. She recommends a process of updating on a staging environment first, ensuring everything works, and then updating the production site. She highlights real-world scenarios where automated updates have caused issues, leading to downtime and confusion over whether a site was hacked or simply experiencing an update-related error.Content Creation and Community Engagement:Kathy discusses her responsibilities at Motivation Code, including managing content across different platforms and facilitating challenges to foster community interaction. Despite facing technical challenges with platforms like LinkedIn, she remains committed to creating engaging content and moving activities to more effective platforms like Facebook.Mentioned In The Show:ShopifyWixSquarespaceMotivation Code CrowdStrike StellarWPWordCamp USNathan IngramMark WestguardKathy's website

Wouldn't be amazing if if you could determine what actually motivates your children and you? Especially if those motivators are totally different and might even work against each other.  Join Janna and Jimmie Quick from TruSpark as they talk about homeschooling and a few ways you can determine what motivates each person and use that to accomplish everyone's best.  ABOUT OUR GUEST |  Jimmie Quick is a former homeschool parent whose only daughter is now an independent adult. It's that old adage of the carrot or the stick and sometimes as parents we have to use the stick. Janna 08:56: What is the True Spark Assessment? The assessment includes 19 different motivations, including a maximizer, a teacher, and a visionary. Janna 14:38: What motivates me doesn't motivate my kids. Jimmie 19:47: The importance of realizing the vision. Realize the vision is not necessarily a visionary, but if someone gives you a grand idea, let's see how to make it a reality. Jimmie 20:38: Don't ask kids to do things that are not in their wheelhouse. Make it easier for them to cater to their strengths and cater to their motivation. Janna 26:25: How to get comfortable in the uncomfortable. Living in an age of innovation, parents who chose to get out of the system and do it a different way. IN EPISODE 127:  Why do we do what we do? It turns out the traditional view of motivation - a system of rewards and repercussions - doesn't account for the highly nuanced, deeply ingrained factors that drive our behaviors and beliefs. To understand motivation, we need to crack the code - and that's exactly what Todd Henry does for us in Episode 127. Drawing on decades of research and interviews with over 100,000 people, Henry shows that motivation is hardly one size fits all: Some people are energized by a race against the clock while others put in extra effort only when they feel part of a team. For still others, nothing is as motivating as the possibility of public recognition. Henry shows, in fact, that there are twenty-seven “motivational themes,” each with its own unique DNA. After hearing this episode, you'll have a better understanding of what makes people tick - including yourself. ABOUT TODD HENRY: Todd Henry is founder of Accidental Creative and has worked with some of the world's biggest brands and companies on developing creativity, leadership and a passion for work. Episode 78 is Part 2 of my building culture mini series. In today's conversation I'm diving into why investing in & building people is the key to shifting culture in real time. But with building people comes a lot of emotional labor. In the book Radical Candor, they talk about how “Emotional labor is not just part of the job; it's the key to being a good boss” and so we're diving into why this matters! I share insight into why it so important for people to be able to bring their whole selves to work. We discuss why building the whole person matters and how we as leaders have an opportunity to get to know our teams on a new level. We talk about learning our employees key motivators (Check out the Motivation Code by Todd Henry!) and how learning what each person needs to avoid boredom & burnout is so key to building an engaged team. To wrap up, we chat how as the leader you are really more of the editor than the author! Something peak your interest, come learn along with us! Leave us a 5 star review, screenshot and send to @butwhatifyoudidpod on IG and Alyson will gift you a free one to one Breathwork session as a thank you for being apart of our amazing community. Our guest today, Todd Henry, is truly one of my favorite authors, and I'm pretty sure he's the only guest I've had on my show four, maybe even five, times. And it's because his books, and who he is as a person, are far more real and genuine than most. He has a true in-the-trenches style that I love so much. In our conversation today, we talk about the reasoning behind the intriguing format of his latest book, Daily Creative and how the choice of format was impacted by the pandemic. We discuss the nature of creativity, the ‘long arc' of creativity, and how creativity is an iterative, evolutionary process (emphasis on process). We also talk about how the ‘noise' of the world around us can impact our creativity – and how to manage around it – plus Todd shares his own habits for daily creativity.   Positioning himself as an "arms dealer for the creative revolution", Todd Henry teaches leaders and organizations how to establish practices that lead to everyday brilliance. He is the author of six books (The Accidental Creative, Die Empty, Louder Than Words, Herding Tigers, The Motivation Code, Daily Creative) which have been translated into more than a dozen languages, and he speaks and consults across dozens of industries on creativity, leadership, and passion for work. This week's Say Yes to Holiness podcast 1:1 Conversation is with Dr. Joshua Miller, co-author with Luke Burgis of Unrepeatable: Cultivating the Unique Calling of Every Person (2018), contributing author to The Motivation Code (2020), and the Executive Director of the Inscape Center for Personal Vocation. Joshua and I had a truly enjoyable discussion about his own journey and how that has been instrumental for his passion for creating a culture of personal vocation and a driving force behind the latest initiative of the Inscape Center--the Missions Program. Joshua a leader in the field of narrative based motivational assessment, and for the last 18 years he has applied his expertise in a variety of applications, including executive search, organizational development, and talent management. His long standing desire to understand and help people develop their unique giftedness led to an MA & Ph.D. in Philosophy of the Human Person. He continues to effectively integrate learning from this study into his coaching and consulting practices. Joshua also helped build The Center for Leadership at Franciscan University of Steubenville where he currently serves as a vocation coach and vocation coach trainer for faculty and staff of the institution, and then he was a Co-Founder of Inscape Vocation with Luke Burgis which is responsible for the Missions Program. The Missions Program is designed specifically for young adults ages 18 –23 who want to do hands-on missionary service in a community context while growing in self-awareness and exploration of their unique, personal vocation. Joshua and I spoke about the specifics of the Missions program, and how it will serve to fill a gap being experienced by many young adults in our world today, but it was in the context of how it is that knowing the fullness of the truth regarding the Church's teaching about personal vocation is absolutely crucial for our own experiencing the life of freedom, peace and abundance that our God desires for us. I have discovered over the years that my conversations with Joshua are always illuminating, inspiring and serve to challenge me to do more to help others embrace the lives God created them for, and I can attest that this one was no different. I hope that you, too, are inspired to do WHATEVER IT TAKES to live out the fullness of your personal vocation each and every day and help those around you to do the same. 2020 was an especially challenging year. And this year continues to require some extra effort to start and finish things that matter.  Even if you've built a business for yourself (like I did), you can still have creative exhaustion and feel trapped by your work. Maintaining discipline is more critical than having motivation. Preserve your energy and leave some fuel in the tank. Steady, daily progress through discipline allows you to cultivate long-term motivation. When you have autonomy, discretion, rewards that you value, social support, fair policies, and meaningful work, you feel more engaged and less burnt out. In episode 30 of The Incrementalist podcast, you will learn:1. Small, key things to do when you're in a motivation rut and feeling depleted2. Why maintaining discipline is more important than having motivation3. The three key dimensions of the burnout-engagement continuum, as defined by Dr. Christina Maslach and Dr. Michael Lieter:  exhaustion-energy  cynicism-involvement  inefficacy-efficacy 4. The six workplace factors that trigger burnout: workplace overload lack of control over your work insufficient reward lack of community absence of fairness conflicting values 5.  External factors and rewards don't always match with internal drivers and intrinsic motivation6. How a unique framework -- the Motivation Code (MCODE) -- helps you to understand what motivates you and why7. The Motivation Code includes 27 motivational themes that are grouped into six motivational families: Visionary Achieve Potential Make an Impact Experience the Ideal Achiever Meet the Challenge Overcome Bring to Completion Advance Team Player Collaborate Make the Grade Serve Influence Behavior Learner Comprehend and Express Master Demonstrate New Learning Explore Optimizer Organize Make it Right Improve Make it Work Develop Establish Key Contributor Evoke Recognition Bring Control Be Unique Be Central Gain Ownership Excel 8. What motivates you does not always include work that you love, but involves work that allows you to accomplish what really matters to you. 9. Use clean fuel to motivate your work and create possibilities, meaning and significance to feel alive and engaged, instead of depleted and drained. The Meaning Movement: Helping You Find Your Calling, Create Your Life's Work, and Make Career Change

Have you ever needed and even wanted to do something, but struggled to get into action to get it done? When I look at the way my energy for activities shifts— it can seem so illogical. There are many misunderstandings about what it means to be “motivated”. Typically, we think that either someone is motivated or they aren't, as if motivation is a switch to be flipped. The reality is that we are always motivated to do something, and once we begin to unlock the secrets to what drives us we can learn to bring our motivation to what we do each day instead of waiting for our work to motivate us. On this episode, I share a passage from the new book The Motivation Code in which my co-authors and I dispel some common misunderstandings about what drives us: Motivation is just about diligence or laziness. Motivation is about enjoying tasks. Motivation naturally comes with “the perfect job”.

Today we define something that is often glossed over but is essential, not just for the self-employed, but for all of us trying to tackle some of the world's current major challenges: motivation. Todd and I discuss what it means to crack your personal motivation codes by understanding our patterns, what makes us tick, and how we can understand the motivational codes of those around us. I love where art and science intersect. And this is how we take the art of living and turn it into a scientific understanding of what uniquely motivates us.  Todd Henry is an author, international speaker, consultant, and advisor. He is the founder of Accidental Creative, and author of The Accidental Creative, Die Empty, and Louder Than Words, which have been translated into more than a dozen languages. Positioning himself as an "arms dealer for the creative revolution", Todd Henry teaches leaders and organizations how to establish practices that lead to everyday brilliance. There are 17,550 possible motivation codes.  If we can understand the unique code that drives people, we can engage them better.  There are 27 motivational themes that are the specific ways we are motivated.  Every motivation is a gift, but it also has a shadow side to it.  We have big problems to tackle right now. My new book releases October 6th. Below, learn how to get the full MCODE assessment when you pre-order the book. There are things we experience our entire life, but never really have words to describe. For example, there are probably certain easy tasks that you simply can't seem to get motivated to do, but others – that are much more difficult and less attractive – you are willing to tackle at a moment's notice. Similarly, there are probably certain people in your life or on your team that you simply can't seem to get along with, while other relationships just “click”. I've come to learn that many of these unseen, yet routinely experienced dynamics are due to how you and everyone around you are uniquely motivated. About four years ago, my friend Rod asked me to take a motivation assessment he'd been working on. I was not excited. I've seen plenty of assessments, and frankly, most of them were not very useful to me. However, Rod promised me this would be different. And, in short, he was right. I was blown away. The assessment that Rod and an entire ream of researchers had developed was founded upon over 50 years of research and over a million achievement stories. They had discovered that there are twenty-seven unique themes of motivation, and that depending on a person's top handful of themes, certain work or relationships might bring them to life or make them wish they were dead. It was through this assessment that I discovered that my top motivaitonal themes are: Make An Impact Meet The Challenge Influence Behavior So, when I can't see the impact of my work, or when I don't have a discrete and pressing challenge to tackle, or when I can't see the direct influence of my work on the thoughts and behavior of others, I disengage. However, when these three things are present, I completely come alive and do some of my best work. Because of this knowledge, I've been able to resolve recurring conflict in relationships, re-structure some of my tasks so they are more engaging, and change the way I think about outcomes so that they are more aligned with what naturally drives me. In short, it's been life-changing. I want you to have the same experience I had, so I've arranged to allow anyone who pre-orders The Motivation Code (before October 6th) to have access to the full MCODE assessment! All you have to do is pre-order the book through your favorite retailer, then register your pre-order so that we can send you a code to take the full assessment. I believe understanding what uniquely drives you will unlock untold potential, engagement, and deep productivity in your life, your relationships, your family, and your community. I can't wait to share the book with you. This episode is sponsored by Indeed.
