We are joined by Swedish star golfer Peter Hanson, two-time Ryder Cup'er for Team Europe. He was part of the team that created "The Miracle at Medinah" in 2012, where Europe came back from being down 10-4 during Saturday's matches. He takes us into the team room, talks about his reaction to being benched on Saturday and the motivational speeches that were delivered on Saturday night, the night before the comeback became a reality. We also discuss Ryder Cup 2023 and Ludvig Åberg. Music historian and film screenwriting professor Peter Hanson helps me sum up the essence of Joel Walsh, Don Henley and Co.'s striking music experiment that was The Eagles (with some help by Music Rewind at the beginning!). What TRULY made this talented beast of a band really work to begin with? Who's the one key member who gets under-mentioned quite alot? Do they still sell out tickets at concerts these days? Why do they still merit being on most Top 100 music band lists? And more nostalgia declassified! Quaid returns to period pieces in Our Winning Season, not that you'd necessarily know from the production. This failed attempt to combine a Porky's-esque sex farce with a high-school-sports roman a clef AND the blight of Vietnam isn't so much bad as airless and dull, and on top of that, it's both not very Quaidy and TOO Quaidy somehow. This week is a special week as we conclude our episodes dealing with mental health. This week we have multiple people who joined us including those who have helped Paul through his issues with mental health and helped him get treatment. These people include Andy and Heather Peterson - friends of the three guys. Pastor David Sincock - who helped Paul get into a hospital for treatment (and even drove him up there). And finally, Peter Hanson who is a youth group member in the youth group Paul, Aaron, and Josh volunteer with. Peter brings a unique view in the fact that not only does he have a youth leader with depression, but he also has a very close friend who is dealing with this as well. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Just a few weeks ago, we heard Matthew Green discuss the minority in the House. Green explained that the minority party may not be as powerless as we typically think. In Too Weak to Govern: Majority Party Power and Appropriations in the U.S. Senate (Cambridge University Press, 2014), Peter Hanson offers another side of a similar story. Hanson argues that the majority party in the Senate, more restrained by rule and convention than in the House, has an equally interesting story to tell. Hanson draws on his experience as a staffer for Senator Tom Daschle to explain the evolution of “regular order” and emergence of continuing resolutions as a tool of the majority. Hanson's analysis may not convince you to love the Senate, but he sheds needed light on what's behind the maddening procedures of the “world's greatest deliberative body.” Hanson is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Denver. Hanson’s analysis may not convince you to love the Senate, but he sheds needed light on what’s behind the maddening procedures of the “world’s greatest deliberative body.” Hanson is an assistant professor of political science at the University of Denver.
