Send us a textDr. Divya keerthy (New York Presbyterian Queens/Weill Cornell Medicine) and Dr. Katherine Nyman (UCSD/Rady Children's, San Diego) discuss their Hot Topics conference experience. Keerthy presents research on prenatal polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon exposure measured via backpack monitors and silicone wristbands during the third trimester. Her longitudinal study tracked infant microbiome at three time points over six months, identifying two air pollutants affecting microbiome development. Nyman highlights interest in the Tiny Baby collaborative, particularly PDA management challenges in extremely premature infants. Both emphasize the value of Hot Topics' evidence-based sessions including "green and rotten apples" that stress-test current practices. They note the conference's focus on moderate preemies (32-34 weekers) who comprise 80% of NICU populations yet receive less research attention. What are the 4Qs? (1) Three favorite films. (2) An underrated film. (3) An overrated film. (4) A lesser-known film people should seek out. Filmmaker Lindsay Nyman returns to the podcast to chat about her new film, “They Call Me The Tattoo Witch.” This remarkable documentary, directed and produced by Lindsay, screened at Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2024 and took home the Grand Jury Awards for Best Short Film - Documentary and Best Cinematography - Short Film for Katie Eleneke and the Filmmakers Award for Outstanding Direction - Documentary! It's a great day today because Filmmaker Lindsay Nyman returns to the podcast! And she was zooming in from Berlin! Back in April, 2018, Lindsay appeared on Episode 57 to talk about her pilot, “The Blind Center.” That wonderful film played at Film Invasion Los Angeles 2017 and took home the Grand Jury Award for Narrative Short Film. Thanks to Instagram I was able to keep up with Lindsay over the years and then she returned with a new film in 2024, “They Call Me The Tattoo Witch.” This remarkable documentary, directed by Lindsay, screened at Sherman Oaks Film Festival and took home the Grand Jury Awards for Best Short Film - Documentary and Best Cinematography - Short Film for Katie Eleneke. Lindsay's peers on the Filmmakers Board also awarded her with the Filmmakers Award for Outstanding Direction - Documentary! Lindsay directed and produced the film, working side by-side with cinematographer Katie Eleneke and assembling an all-female crew local to Hanoi. Lindsay always credits the heart and authenticity of the film to this extraordinary Vietnamese team, who brought their talent, care, and cultural insight to the process and became like family. Host Casandra Grundstrom is joined by visiting researcher Olivia Benfeldt, Assistant Professor at Copenhagen Business School. Olivia is based at the Department of Digitalization, where her research focuses on how data is fundamentally reshaping business and society. Her work explores data governance as practice to examine frictions, dependencies, and possibilities in everyday organizational life. Olivia is particularly interested in data governance as a collective action problem, and how sociopolitical issues in situated work enable and constrain what can be done with data—and by whom. She currently leads the newly established Data Studies research theme at CBS and is involved in several projects investigating the making of large-scale governance. Her work has been published in journals such as Information Systems Frontiers and the Scandinavian Journal of Information Systems, as well as presented at international conferences including ECIS and SCIS.In this episode, we unironically discuss research as a conversation. Who are we talking to when we write a paper? What does having a community mean? We explore these ideas and more with the theme of data governance as an undercurrent. Mikaela Nyman's new collection of poetry, The Anatomy of Sand, is being published next month. She joins Mark Leishman.
The Emotion Code is a healing technique developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson that focuses on identifying and releasing trapped emotions from the body. These trapped emotions, often from past experiences, can contribute to physical pain, mental health issues, and overall emotional blockages. Through simple yet effective methods, such as using a magnet along the body's energy meridians, practitioners aim to free these trapped emotions, promoting emotional balance, physical well-being, and personal healing. The Emotion Code is a powerful tool for those seeking to release emotional baggage and create space for more joy and vitality in their lives.
