Vincent Orleck is the President of Social Media Club PHX, a contributor to and evangelist for the #yesPHX Startup & Entrepreneurial Community including the PHX Startup Week, and manages Digital Communications for Knowledge Enterprise at Arizona State University. A Greater Phoenix resident for the last 15+ years, he's honed his methodology through time spent in social media marketing with IO Datacenters, Gannett Inc., and Facebook as well as partnering with a boutique agency. His forthcoming podcast ‘So Meta' ventures to answer the question, “could THIS be the next iteration of the internet?” The goal of the show is simple: to learn more about the metaverse, from all angles, from those who have expertise in the various domains that the metaverse touches...which is seemingly just about EVERY domain. WHAT THIS WILL NOT BE is a hype train for Facebook/Meta, or crypto, or NFTs, or virtual, augmented, mixed, or any other reality. This show will be an objective exploration of the general topic of the metaverse...looking to answer questions like: what is the history to this point? (because it goes back well before Mark Zuckerberg's recent rebranding announcement) What is it?….and what isn't it? Who are the key players? Why does it matter? (and why it may not)...and a lot more. In an odd twist of irony, I'm about to have a chat with http://twitter.com/mrasquith (Mark Asquith) from https://rebelbasemedia.io/ (Rebel Base Media) entitled “Creating Experiences that Inspire Loyal Communities”. It’s one of the first sessions happening at https://phxstartupweek.com/ (PHX Startup Week), and it's going to be very hard for me not to use https://twitter.com/evoterra/status/1386708441004118017?s=20 (Apple Podcasts botched Apple Podcast Subscription rollout) as a negative example. If you’re still basing your assumptions on podcasting experiences before 2018, your assumptions are terribly antiquated. And not in a good way. When I talk about the experiences of podcast consumers, please understand I'm not just talking about their experiences with the audio they listen to. Yes, that’s highly important to get right, and it’s critical to provide a good in-ear listener experience. But you also have to pay attention to the full podcast consumption experience! Podcasting is going through another inflection point right now, and that means all of us in podcasting—podcasters and service providers—have an awesome responsibility not to cock it up. Again. Though it’s still too damned hard, everything about listening to podcasts is a lot easier than it was at the beginning. Which means that switching costs are super low. At the risk of offending your life coach; it is unlikely that your podcast is irreplaceable, regardless of how hot your take. Seriously. https://podcastindex.org/search?q=business%20leaders (Search on your topic in PodcastIndex.org) and see how many other shows look and feel similar to yours. And probably sound similar too. Undifferentiated, perhaps, in the listeners’ minds. How To Relentless Focus On Podcast Listening Experiences Start with the in-ear listener experience but don’t stop there! The in-app listener experience matters. Their experience with your website is important You’re responsible for the experience of your socially shared content, even if you’re not sharing it socially! Focus on the listener experience of your online community, your emails… and in-person events (when we can again go). Consider collaborating with a podcasting peers to do some reciprocal auditing of one another. ----- A written-to-be-read article and a full transcript of the audio of this episode can be found at https://podcastpontifications.com/episode/updating-your-podcast-listener-experience-assumptions (https://podcastpontifications.com/episode/updating-your-podcast-listener-experience-assumptions) https://twitter.com/evoterra (Follow @EvoTerra on Twitter) for more podcasting insights as they come. https://buymeacoffee.com/evoterra (Buy him a virtual coffee) to show your support at BuyMeACoffee.com/evoterra And if you need a professional in your podcasting corner, please visithttps://podcastlaunch.pro/ ( Simpler.Media) to see how Simpler Media Productions can help you reach your business objectives with podcasting. The SuccessLab Podcast: Where Entrepreneurs Collaborate for Success
What does it take to cultivate a strong entrepreneurial and startup community? No one has the exact recipe, but we know it takes passionate advocates who are willing to take bold risks, champion collaboration over a siloed spotlight, and who have a diehard spirit. Jonathan Cottrell, founder of Hopscratch and the guy behind #yesphx and PHX Startup Week, is one such person. In this episode Jonathan shares how PHX Startup Week came to be, how he juggles a growing startup, a marriage and three kids, and rallying the community around entrepreneurship through #yesphx. If you're in the Phoenix area, be sure to check out PHX Startup Week February 22-26, 2016. It's free to attend!
