Details the nature of a preliminary hearing as a public probable cause hearing rather than a trial, expecting the judge to hold the defendant to answer on all charges. We highlight key evidence presented by the prosecution—such as dental records used for identifying the victim, financial records tied to the pecuniary gain circumstance, DNA matched to blood in a Tesla and garage, and disturbing text messages documenting grooming and travel. We also explain the downstream legal proceedings, including how the district attorney's office committee will determine whether to seek the death penalty and how the 60-day speedy trial clock triggers once the case is bound over for trial. The five-day preliminary hearing gave the clearest public look yet at the case prosecutors have assembled against Tyler Robinson in the killing of Charlie Kirk. The state presented surveillance footage that investigators said tracked Robinson's vehicle and movements around Utah Valley University, showed a figure reaching the rooftop firing position, and followed the alleged escape route toward the wooded area where a bolt-action rifle wrapped in a towel was recovered. Prosecutors also introduced DNA evidence linking Robinson to the rifle, ammunition, towel, and a tool allegedly used to engrave the cartridges. Digital messages attributed to Robinson appeared to discuss the rifle, the engraved rounds, fingerprints, retrieving the weapon, deleting messages, and staying silent with police. A recorded interview with Robinson's former roommate and romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, added allegations that Robinson admitted what he had done, cried, and said he wished he had not done it. Taken together, prosecutors argued that the surveillance, physical evidence, DNA, messages, family recognition, surrender, and alleged admissions formed a continuous chain connecting Robinson to the planning, shooting, escape, and attempted concealment. The defense spent the hearing attacking the weaknesses inside that chain rather than offering a complete alternative account of the killing. Robinson's lawyers emphasized that the surveillance footage does not show a clear facial image of the shooter, the damaged bullet fragment could not be conclusively matched to the recovered rifle, and DNA evidence can establish contact without proving when or why an item was handled. They also raised questions about secondary DNA transfer, Twiggs's immunity agreement, the presence of his DNA on some evidence, missing clothing, an empty holster that was seen but never collected, and the use of edited or enhanced video compilations. The hearing did not determine Robinson's guilt because the state only had to establish probable cause, not prove the charges beyond a reasonable doubt. Testimony has concluded, but Judge Tony Graf has not yet issued a bind-over ruling. Both sides are expected to submit written arguments before returning to court on September 1, 2026, when the judge will consider whether Robinson should stand trial on aggravated murder and the additional firearm, obstruction, witness-tampering, and child-presence charges. The prosecution appears heavily favored to clear the relatively low probable-cause threshold, but the defense exposed several issues that could become central disputes if the case reaches a capital trial.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Hawk, a former criminal defense attorney, walks through the evidence now in the record, including the Discord group chat first reported by journalist Ken Klippenstein and additional text messages reported by the New York Times. He explains why this far exceeds the probable cause standard, why Twiggs received state and federal immunity, and why he expects Robinson to be held over for trial and, absent something dramatic, convicted. Along the way Hawk reacts to Fox News commentary from John Yoo on how the judge is running the courtroom, credits Megyn Kelly's legally sound take, and addresses the Candace Owens conspiracy theories along with the Ben Shapiro feud, dismissing the assassination claims as baseless. Whelp, we called it... The preliminary hearing for Tyler Robinson (the man accused of killing Charlie Kirk) is not going to finish today. The judge overseeing the case has scheduled closing oral arguments for the preliminary hearing for September 1st. That means we won't know if this will go to trial until September. Greg's once again not happy and Holly is gobsmacked.
Day Three of Tyler Robinson's preliminary hearing is expected to continue the prosecution's presentation of evidence as additional witnesses take the stand and investigators outline key aspects of the case. The court is also expected to hear further arguments over critical evidence before the judge determines whether there is sufficient probable cause to send the case to trial.Join our squad! Much of the argument centers on the recorded testimony of Lance Twiggs, Robinson's roommate and romantic partner, who has been granted state and federal immunity in exchange for testimony. Hawk walks through why spousal privilege does not apply, how hearsay and the statement-against-interest exception work, and why the prosecution wants to frame the interview as Robinson's confession. Along the way Hawk covers time-coded transcripts and redactions, why a televised hearing could complicate jury selection, the judge holding a prosecutor in contempt, Erica Kirk's presence in the gallery, and the paved-over crime scene the defense is questioning. His larger point: real courtrooms are slow, tedious, and nothing like television. The family of slain political influencer Charlie Kirk says the entire video should be shown in court, but Robinson's defense wants no part of the video shown. Prosecutors tried to show the video in court yesterday, but that devolved into a 2.5 hour debate. KSL NewsRadio's Heather Peterson joins Inside Sources from outside the courthouse with what we're expecting to hear today. The show also dips into the live hearing as parts of the video interview with Lance Twiggs is finally shown.

Day one of the Tyler Robinson preliminary hearing in Utah was exactly what I expected it to be, slow, procedural, and at times rather painful. This was not opening statements in a trial. This was the prosecution beginning the process of showing the judge that there is enough probable cause to send the aggravated murder case against Tyler Robinson forward to trial in the shooting death of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Let's examine the first day of testimony that included the presence of Charlie Kirk's widow and family. We heard from the officer who discovered the shooters “sniper pad” and saw and heard from video, graphic evidence and parts of the autopsy report. The defense scored a win when the judge refused to admit a prosecution-created video compilation because it had been altered with zooms, red circles, and other edits. We'll also look at what the prosecution seems to value the most right now in the form of video, geography, line of sight analysis and a careful chain from the shooting scene to the suspected escape route. I also want to discuss what the state seemed to avoid on day one, including deeper motive evidence, DNA, ballistics, etched rounds, and any full discussion of alleged admissions. You'll be surprised with the number of defense objections in this first day of testimony when they argued repeatedly against photos, videos and even written statements. I'm left wondering if this foretells of motions and appeals down the road.#TylerRobinson #CharlieKirk #CharlieKirkMurder #ProfilingEvil #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #CourtroomCoverage #PreliminaryHearing #UtahCrime #UtahValleyUniversity #CriminalJustice #DeathPenaltyCase #BreakingCrimeNews #TrueCrimeNews #CourtTV #LawAndCrime #CrimeAnalysis #CriminalBehavior #JusticeForCharlie #MurderTrial #Esri #GIS #ArcGIS #crime #crimemapping========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================
The Tyler Robinson preliminary hearing is underway in Provo, Utah, and this could give the public its first real look at the evidence in the Charlie Kirk murder case. Robinson is charged with aggravated murder in the shooting death of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, and prosecutors are seeking the death penalty if he is convicted. This is a preliminary hearing, where the judge decides whether there is enough evidence to move the case forward. The hearing will show us how the state plans to prove identification, intent, motive and aggravating factors as they actively pursue the death penalty. It can also show us how the defense may counter the case, challenge the evidence, object to testimony, and begin laying the groundwork for trial. #ProfilingEvil #MikeKing #TylerRobinson #CharlieKirk #CharlieKirkCase #UtahCrime #UtahNews #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #CrimeNews #CourtroomCoverage #PreliminaryHearing #DeathPenaltyCase #CriminalJustice #BreakingNews #LegalAnalysis #CourtCase #ForensicEvidence #BehavioralAnalysis #TrueCrimeDiscussion========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================
