Lindsay Clancy Jury Silent/ What the Evidence Requests Tell Us | Profiling Evil

The Lindsay Clancy jury has now spent more than 16 hours deliberating over three days, and there is still no verdict. As the public waits, the jury has asked to review two particularly important pieces of evidence: the knife involved in Lindsay Clancy's suicide attempt and bags containing prescription medication bottles. Many are wondering what should we make of all this? In this episode, let's take a closer look at what the jury's request could mean, while being careful to separate evidence from speculation. We examine the prosecution's argument about planning and awareness, the defense's argument surrounding postpartum psychosis and severe mental illness, the significance of Lindsay's medication history, the alleged voice she reported hearing, and the Massachusetts standard for criminal responsibility. We'll also talk about the pink clothing and demonstrations surrounding the courthouse and how quickly a visual symbol can become an internet theory when people are desperate for clues about what's happening inside a jury room. The jury may be divided, or they may be in agreement at this point and merely struggling with one very specific issue. We simply don't know and that's an important part of understanding how jury deliberations actually work.#ProfilingEvil #LindsayClancy #LindsayClancyTrial #TrueCrime #CoraClancy #DawsonClancy #CallanClancy #TrueCrimeCommunity #TrueCrimeAnalysis #JuryDeliberations #MassachusettsCrime #CriminalResponsibility #PostpartumPsychosis #Courtroom #TrueCrimeNews #MikeKing #Justice #CrimeAnalysis #GIS #Esri #ArcGIS #CrimeAnalysis========================================Website: www.ProfilingEvil.com========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

Let's break down this heartbreaking case of Lindsay Clancy together, the same way we would if you were sitting across from me in a small back office with a single lamp, a stack of case files, and the door cracked open. The Lindsay Clancy case has stirred up a level of emotion and tribalism that's drowning out the evidence, and I wanted to bring in someone who's been in the trenches on cases just like this. So I sat down with retired Houston Police Homicide Detective Fil Waters — a guy who worked the Andrea Yates murders and has interviewed mothers who killed their children under circumstances eerily similar to what we're seeing now.In this episode, we talk about the tension between mental health crises and purposeful behavior, the high legal bar for insanity, and the investigative questions that matter when you're trying to understand whether someone knew right from wrong. Fil shares what he saw in the Yates case, in other filicide cases he worked, and how those experiences shape the way he views the Clancy case. This isn't about sensationalism. It's about clarity, compassion, and disciplined behavioral analysis — and about helping people who are genuinely trying to make sense of something that may never feel fully explainable.#ProfilingEvil #TrueCrimeCommunity #LindsayClancy #AndreaYates #FilWaters #BehavioralAnalysis #CriminalProfiling #CrimeSceneAnalysis #TrueCrimePodcast #EvidenceBasedAnalysis #MentalHealthAwareness #PostpartumPsychosis #JusticeSystem #CourtroomAnalysis #CrimeAndPsychology #ChildSafety #TrueCrimeDiscussion #LawEnforcementInsights #HoustonPolice========================================Website: www.ProfilingEvil.com========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

The Lindsay Clancy murder trial is now in the hands of the jury. The defense says a loving mother was overtaken by postpartum psychosis after months of deteriorating mental health and fragmented treatment. The Commonwealth agrees that Lindsay was struggling, but argues that her actions on January 24, 2023—sending Patrick away, checking the travel time, adding another errand, speaking calmly during his phone call and acting as soon as he left—show that she understood what she was doing and knew it was wrong. In this episode, I look at what each side asked the jury to believe, why mental-health treatment nearly overtook the deaths of Cora, Dawson and Callan as the public focus, and why there are no real winners regardless of the verdict. Three children are dead, their mother's life is destroyed and a family will live with this loss forever. I may have strong reactions to the way this case was tried, but I will respect the jury's decision. The Commonwealth saved one of its most direct challenges to Lindsay Clancy's account for its final rebuttal witness. Dr. Gregory Saathoff, a forensic psychiatrist who has worked with the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit for three decades, compared what Lindsay told him with her medical records, digital searches, Patrick Clancy's account and the physical sequence of events on the day she killed her children. His testimony does not negate the serious mental illness described throughout this trial, and it does not decide the case by itself. It does, however, put the central legal question in plain view: did Lindsay's illness leave her unable to understand that killing Cora, Dawson and Callan was wrong, or do the planning, timing, choices and later inconsistencies show that she still understood what she was doing? In this episode, I walk through the strongest parts of Saathoff's testimony, the fair challenges the defense can make, and the exact courtroom clips that allow you to hear the evidence for yourself.#LindsayClancy #CoraClancy #DawsonClancy #CallanClancy #GregorySaathoff #PatrickClancy #KevinReddington #Duxbury #Massachusetts #TrueCrime #Court #MentalHealth #PostpartumPsychosis========================================Website: www.ProfilingEvil.com========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

Children Cannot Be Footnotes. What the Lindsay Clancy Jury Must Decide | Profiling Evil

The Lindsay Clancy trial is difficult to watch because nearly every discussion has centered on Lindsay's mental health, her treatment and whether she was experiencing psychosis. Meanwhile, her children, Cora, Dawson and Callan are feeling like footnotes in the case, even though they are the reason everyone is in that courtroom. I think we can recognize that Lindsay was seriously ill without losing sight of what happened to her children. This episode looks at the Commonwealth's claim that she deliberately created time alone with them, what the defense says psychosis did to her ability to understand and control her actions, why this case did not end with a negotiated resolution, and what choices the jury may actually have when deliberations begin.I also want to compare Clancy's case with John du Pont, James Holmes, Jeffrey Dahmer and Jared Lee Loughner, all of whom had serious mental-health problems but were still held criminally responsible. That does not make these cases equal, and it does not settle Lindsay's case. It helps explain why proof of mental illness is only part of what this jury must consider. We also need to remember that the jurors heard the 911 call and saw medical evidence that people watching remotely did not. Those moments may stay with them when they decide whether the Commonwealth proved first-degree murder, whether a legally available lesser offense fits the evidence, or whether Lindsay was not criminally responsible.#LindsayClancy #CoraClancy #DawsonClancy #CallanClancy #PatrickClancy #Duxbury #Massachusetts #PostpartumDepression #PostpartumPsychosis #MentalHealth #JohnDuPont #DaveSchultz #JamesHolmes #Aurora #JeffreyDahmer #Milwaukee #JaredLeeLoughner #GabbyGiffords #Tucson #TrueCrime #Court========================================Website: www.ProfilingEvil.com========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

Why Some Women Fall for Convicted Killers: Chris Watts, Luigi Mangione and Richard Ramirez

In this episode of Profiling Evil, I sit down with clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. Joni Johnston to examine why some women pursue relationships with men responsible for notorious killings. We begin with Chris Watts, who is serving life without parole for murdering his pregnant wife, Shanann Watts, their daughters, Bella and Celeste, and their unborn son, Nico. With reports that Watts may now want to marry a woman who has repeatedly visited him in prison, we discuss what someone may gain from a relationship built around distance, controlled contact and the belief that she alone understands the man behind the crime.Dr. Johnston explains the limited research surrounding hybristophilia, the term commonly used for attraction to people who commit serious crimes. We discuss rescue fantasies, religious redemption, the desire to feel uniquely important, denial of overwhelming evidence and the emotional appeal of a relationship in which everyday responsibilities are largely absent. We also examine how an incarcerated offender can create intimacy through letters, telephone calls and carefully controlled stories while the person outside supplies money, attention, loyalty and a connection to the free world. We compare Watts with Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker, who received attention from numerous women while awaiting execution and eventually married Doreen Lioy. Her refusal to accept the evidence against him lasted for years before DNA linked Ramirez to the killing of nine-year-old Mei Leung. We also discuss Luigi Mangione and the public support, romantic attention and substantial defense contributions he received after the killing of UnitedHealthcare executive Brian Thompson. Mangione has now pleaded guilty to two federal stalking charges resulting in Thompson's death and admitted in court that he shot him; the separate New York murder prosecution is currently being challenged by his attorneys. (Associated Press)This conversation is not about assuming that every person who writes to an inmate has the same motivation. It is about understanding the different psychological needs that can make these relationships attractive, the ways imprisoned offenders may groom or manipulate people outside and the difference between a sincere claim of change and years of accountable behavior. Dr. Johnston also explains why intelligence, professional training or previous relationship experience does not necessarily protect someone from emotional manipulation.I want to hear what you think. Should Chris Watts be permitted to marry while serving life for killing Shanann, Bella, Celeste and Nico? Is a prison relationship evidence of love, a rescue effort, a redemption story or something the offender has carefully constructed?#ChrisWatts #ShanannWatts #BellaWatts #CelesteWatts #NicoWatts #LuigiMangione #BrianThompson #RichardRamirez #JoniJohnston #JennieVincow #DayleOkazaki #TsaiLianYu #VincentZazzara #MaxineZazzara #WilliamDoi #MabelBell #MaryLouiseCannon #JoyceLucilleNelson #MaxonKneiding #LelaKneiding #ChainarongKhovananth #ElyasAbowath #PeterPan #MeiLeung #TrueCrime #ForensicPsychology #PrisonRelationships #PrisonGrooming #Hybristophilia #LoveBehindBars #VictimAdvocacy #ProfilingEvil========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

On August 8th, 2026, 63-year-old grandmother Alisa Goods stepped out of a Las Vegas home to pick up iron pills from a nearby CVS. She never came back and there aren't any witnesses we're aware of, no trace of the woman, just silence. Then four days later, her phone started sending texts to her family asking for gas money and Bitcoin. There's one problem: Alisa Goods doesn't drive and I doubt she even uses bitcoin. Someone else likely has her phone and they knew her name, her family's numbers, and exactly how to make them desperate enough to consider sending money. Her daughter flew across the country to search while other family members plea for help on the internet. Her son recorded a phone call from a woman claiming to be his mother but the voice on the other end of the line, wasn't her. Law enforcement says there's "nothing to suggest she is in danger," but I join the family in disagreeing. Jodi had overslept and told her producer she'd be right in for the morning newscast at KIMT-TV. About 20 minutes later, investigators believe she made it to her red Mazda Miata, just steps from her apartment door, where evidence suggested she was attacked and abducted. Her personal items were found scattered near the car, including shoes, hairspray, a hairdryer, and a bent key. Jodi has never been found.Caroline Lowe has spent decades reporting on this case and helping keep Jodi's story alive through FindJodi.com. In this conversation, we talk about the timeline, the crime scene, possible offender types, the importance of victimology, the dangers of tunnel vision, and why law enforcement sometimes holds back evidence even when the public wants answers. We also talk about who Jodi was beyond the case: a young journalist with big dreams, deep friendships, a love of travel, and a life that should never be reduced to the mystery of her disappearance. After 30 years, this case still matters. Someone may know something. I also examine defense attorney Kevin Reddington's aggressive cross-examination of Dr. Jennifer Tufts, including the disputed notation about “not hyper” and “pressured speech.” Was Dr. Tufts changing her explanation, or did the defense turn a poorly written line into something far larger than the evidence supports? In this special Profiling Evil episode, we'll draw on lessons from law-enforcement and behavioral-analysis alongside a fascinating peer-reviewed study by Robert A. Chaney, PhD, Alyssa Baer, MPH, and L. Ida Tovar, MPH. The researchers asked 571 college students to examine campus walking environments under changing conditions of lighting and entrapment. Women tended to focus more on bushes, darkness, and areas outside the path, while men tended to focus more directly on the path ahead. Those differences don't tell us that one gender is naturally better at detecting danger, nor does the study measure actual victimization or predict who would avoid an attack. What it gives us is a useful way to think about our environment and the blind spots that increase our chances of being victimized. We'll explore how offenders take advantage of location, situation and circumstances to get the upper hand on their intended victims and we'll talk about how simple choices can lower exposure without surrendering your freedom. Days seven and eight of the Lindsay Clancy trial brought the jury toxicology results, DNA findings, testimony from the children's former nanny, friends and relatives, and deeply difficult medical evidence concerning the murders of Cora, Dawson and Callan Clancy. In this episode, I explain what that testimony added to the prosecution's case, what it may have handed to the defense, and why the emotional force of this trial may become as important as the legal arguments over criminal responsibility. I also examine a harder question of whether a public murder trial is the best available form of justice when nobody disputes who killed these three children, but the parties sharply disagree about whether their mother was legally responsible because of psychosis. Finally, I look at the decision to have two women prosecute this case and why it would be irresponsible to assume that female prosecutors, or female jurors re naturally less sympathetic to postpartum mental illness. In this episode, I look at what Lindsay agreed to, what we learned from the medical, medication, journal and bloodstain testimony on Monday and Tuesday, and how both sides are moving toward the real question in this trial: Was Lindsay criminally responsible when she killed Cora, Dawson and Callan, or did severe mental illness leave her unable to understand the wrongfulness of her actions or control her conduct?#LindsayClancy #CoraClancy #DawsonClancy #CallanClancy #PatrickClancy #Duxbury #Massachusetts #PostpartumPsychosis #MentalHealth #TrueCrime #Court #ProfilingEvil========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

The Pima County Sheriff's Department has released two messages connected to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY co-anchor Savannah Guthrie. One demands millions in Bitcoin and threatens her life. The other claims she died shortly after being taken and was “buried in nature.” In this episode, we examine the communications using forensic linguistics, behavioral threat-assessment principles and practical law-enforcement investigative standards. What do the shifts from “we” to “me,” from control to apology, and from “will be killed” to “we never intended to hurt her” begins to tell us about the writer. In Buffalo, Hadi Matar is on trial on federal terrorism charges stemming from the 2022 attack on author Salman Rushdie. In Brooklyn, longtime Sinaloa Cartel leader Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada has been sentenced to life in federal prison. And in Greece, a court has refused to extradite James Dalamangas to Australia over the 1999 killing of George Giannopoulos. What followed was a two-year investigation filled with bad assumptions, conflicting witnesses, media pressure, false suspects, radical artists, wealthy collectors, and one ordinary man who may have fooled everyone by looking like he belonged. In this episode, we'll look at the theft of the Mona Lisa from a criminal behavior and investigative perspective. Was this the work of a professional thief? A museum insider? A wealthy collector? Or was the real offender hiding in plain sight all along?I just returned from Paris, where the Mona Lisa still draws huge crowds. In this episode of Profiling Evil, I sit down with Sarah Edmondson and Anthony “Nippy” Ames from A Little Bit Culty for a raw and honest conversation about cult behavior, coercive control, undue influence and the slow erosion of personal autonomy. They were inside NXIVM, the organization led by Keith Raniere, who was convicted in federal court in 2019 of racketeering, sex trafficking, attempted sex trafficking, forced labor conspiracy and other crimes. In 2020, Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in prison. But this conversation isn't just about NXIVM. It's about how control can be disguised as self-improvement, leadership training, discipline, personal growth, spiritual development or belonging. Sarah and Nippy explain how people don't usually walk into a destructive group knowing what it really is. They walk in because they're looking for purpose, community, answers, confidence, healing or a better version of themselves. That's what makes this discussion so important. We talk about the first hooks, the love bombing, the status systems, the pressure to ignore red flags, the “us versus them” thinking, the sunk cost fallacy, the fear of admitting you were wrong and the painful moment when a person finally realizes the leader is not who they claimed to be.Sarah shares how her intuition warned her early, but how those warnings were slowly trained out of her. Nippy talks about susceptibility, blind spots, loyalty, shame and why assuming “that could never happen to me” may be one of the most dangerous beliefs a person can carry.Their podcast, A Little Bit Culty, focuses on helping people understand, heal from and avoid abusive systems “one little red flag at a time,” and their book, A Little Bit Culty, is described as a guide to understanding how manipulation and control take hold, and how people can begin to break free. From a criminal behavior perspective, this episode looks at how predatory personalities study vulnerability. They don't always begin with threats. Often, they begin with charm, praise, status, access and the promise that you can become something better if you'll just trust the process. That's where control gets dangerous. Not when it looks obvious, but when it looks helpful. This is a conversation for parents, students, true crime followers, faith communities, business leaders, coaches, creators and anyone who wants to better understand coercive control before it reaches the point of crisis. Because cult tactics aren't limited to cults. They can show up in relationships, workplaces, political movements, wellness groups, online communities, business cultures and anywhere a person uses trust to gain power over someone else.#ProfilingEvil #ALittleBitCulty #SarahEdmondson #NippyAmes #NXIVM #KeithRaniere #CoerciveControl #UndueInfluence #CultBehavior #CultSurvivors #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #CrimeCon #CriminalBehavior #PredatorBehavior #Manipulation #Gaslighting #LoveBombing #PsychologicalControl #SurvivorVoices #CrimeAnalysis #BehavioralAnalysis #CultRecovery #RedFlags #TrueCrimePodcast #MappingEvil========================================A Little Bit Culty: https://alittlebitculty.com/========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

The Tyler Robinson preliminary hearing is less about dramatic testimony and more about the fight over what the judge, the public, the media, and eventually a jury pool should be allowed to hear before trial. Investigators testified about the investigation after Robinson turned himself in, Robinson's roommate and his statement and whether it will be admitted into evidence. Prosecutors wanted the audio played in open court and the defense is fighting it because they believe it contains statements the state will later characterize as confessions. Erika Kirk, victim Charlie Kirk's widow is pushing for full transparency and asked the court to allow the evidence to be made public for the world to see.It seems the court will bind Robinson over for trial, the evidence has been overwhelming that he was on the campus, in proximity of where the shot was fired from and recorded fleeing the area with something that could be considered a weapon in his hands after the shot. So why is this judge being so cautious? Is it concerns of later appeals, the fact this is happening on a global scale or is he simply being a judge and considering whether public trust, media coverage, conspiracy claims, and the defendant's rights are balanced. Agent Hull's testimony in the Tyler Robinson preliminary hearing gave us a much better look at how prosecutors are trying to move this case forward. The judge is not deciding guilt at this stage, instead he's trying to determine if there is reasonable cause to bind Tyler Robinson over for trial in the shooting death of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University. Pay attention to the way investigators place Robinson on the UVU campus multiple times on the morning of the shooting, first in shorts and a red shirt, later with a blue backpack, and then later again in different clothing while walking with what Agent Hull described as “a gait or a limp.” Prosecutors used the video evidence to track the person they identify as Robinson moving toward the rooftop where he allegedly laid prone at the corner of the roof before the shot was fired. Then, he ran with something in his hands to the corner of the rooftop where he scaled down the building and ran into a nearby wooded area. He didn't take the stairs, and the video supports the claim that the clothing matched that worn by Tyler Robinson when he was seen going to the rooftop. The important question for today is not whether every issue has been proven for trial. It's whether the state showed enough reasonable cause to move this case forward to a trial. This powerful testimony may also support the prosecution's larger argument about planning, preparation, premeditation, flight, and eventually a possible death penalty case. Until a decision is made by a jury, Tyler Robinson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.#ProfilingEvil #MikeKing #TylerRobinson #CharlieKirk #CharlieKirkCase #CharlieKirkMurder #UtahValleyUniversity #UVU #PreliminaryHearing #AgentHull #TrueCrime #TrueCrimeCommunity #CourtroomCoverage #LegalAnalysis #DeathPenaltyCase #CriminalJustice #SurveillanceVideo #BehavioralAnalysis #UtahNews #CrimeNews #BreakingNews #AggravatedMurder #CourtCase #TrialWatch========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

Let's examine the first day of testimony that included the presence of Charlie Kirk's widow and family. We heard from the officer who discovered the shooters “sniper pad” and saw and heard from video, graphic evidence and parts of the autopsy report. The defense scored a win when the judge refused to admit a prosecution-created video compilation because it had been altered with zooms, red circles, and other edits. We'll also look at what the prosecution seems to value the most right now in the form of video, geography, line of sight analysis and a careful chain from the shooting scene to the suspected escape route. I also want to discuss what the state seemed to avoid on day one, including deeper motive evidence, DNA, ballistics, etched rounds, and any full discussion of alleged admissions. The defense put on a much shorter case, calling only three witnesses in a single day, and focused on reasonable doubt: no body, no confirmed cause of death, no obvious crime scene, K9 searches that did not detect human remains in the home, questions about surveillance coverage, and the possibility that Maya could have left unseen. According to reports, the note said Nancy died shortly after she was taken and was “buried in nature.” That phrase caught my attention because it may be more than just unusual wording. It could be literal, but it could also reflect awkward English, translation software, or someone trying to say she was buried outside town, in a remote area, or somewhere in the desert.Catch my recent NewsMax appearance on the case, what the second ransom note may tell us, and why we need to be careful before jumping to conclusions. For decades, the public was told Albert DeSalvo was the killer. He confessed, the headlines moved on, and Boston tried to put the nightmare behind it. But DeSalvo was never convicted of the Strangler murders. His confession had problems, several suspects remained in the background, and even after DNA tied him to one victim in 2013, questions remain about whether one man killed all thirteen women. After pleading guilty to seven murders and admitting responsibility for an eighth, the former Long Island architect stood in court as victims' families finally had the chance to speak directly about the pain, the waiting, and the years stolen from them. In this episode we'll look at Heuermann's sentencing from a victimology and criminal behavior perspective. This is not about giving the killer more attention. It's about remembering Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Lynn Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Jessica Taylor, Sandra Costilla, Valerie Mack, and Karen Vergata. It's also about Shannan Gilbert, whose disappearance helped expose what had been hidden along Ocean Parkway, and Asian Doe, who still deserves a name. We'll talk about the judge's words, Heuermann's brief statement, the importance of victim impact statements, and why the District Attorney's office must continue looking at other possible victim cases. Not because Heuermann needs more prison time. He's already going away forever. We'll talk about four things that often show up in serial murder cases: fantasy, the thrill of the hunt, the gap between fantasy and reality, and the offender's desire for legacy. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Steven Hassan to talk about the BITE Model, one of the most practical frameworks for understanding how controlling people, high-demand groups, and manipulative systems gain influence over others. Dr. Hassan draws from his own experience of being recruited into the Unification Church, often referred to as the Mooney's cult, and explains how the work of psychiatrist Robert J. Lifton helped him understand what had happened to him. From there, he breaks down the four parts of the BITE Model, Behavior, Information, Thought, and Emotional control, and explains how these methods can slowly override independent thinking and trap people in unhealthy systems. This conversation goes beyond cults. It helps us think through coercive control in families, relationships, organizations, religious groups, and other environments where power gets used to dominate rather than serve. If you've ever asked yourself how intelligent, capable people can get pulled into harmful systems, this interview gives you a clear, grounded place to start. The first prosecution was dismissed in 2022, but after Suzanne's remains were found in 2023, prosecutors brought a new first-degree murder indictment in 2025. Barry Morphew has pleaded not guilty, and the trial is scheduled to begin October 13, 2026, with proceedings expected to last up to six weeks. In this episode, we break down a defense motion asking the court to exclude what it calls “so-called victimology testimony.” The motion argues that labels like “victimology,” “pattern of life,” “behavioral analysis,” and “profiling” risk turning investigative context into unfair courtroom testimony. The prosecution is likely to see this same evidence as critical context for Suzanne's life, her routines, her relationship, her communications, and the circumstances around her disappearance. Let's discuss one of the most important and uncomfortable subjects in true crime, the path from coercive control to domestic violence homicide. Using the work of forensic criminologist Dr. Jane Monckton Smith, we're breaking down the eight-stage pattern she identified after reviewing hundreds of domestic homicide cases. This is not about blaming victims. It's about understanding offender behavior, escalation, and the warning signs people too often miss until it's too late. We'll start with two cases that are making headlines right now. In Ohio, Caleb Flynn has been charged in the shooting death of his wife, Ashley Flynn, and has pleaded not guilty. In Colorado, Barry Morphew has been indicted again in the death of his wife, Suzanne Morphew, has pleaded not guilty, and is awaiting trial. Both men are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. What matters for this discussion is not pre-judging guilt but understanding why intimate partner homicide so often follows recognizable patterns of control, separation, stalking, fear, and escalation. We'll also talk about the difference between immediate fear and chronic fear, why separation can be the most dangerous moment, why strangulation matters so much, and why friends and family need to stop asking, “Why didn't she just leave?” and start asking, “What was he doing to make leaving so dangerous?” This video provides a practical and behavioral framework that can benefit, investigators, survivors, advocates, and families alike. #ProfilingEvil #DomesticViolence #CoerciveControl #JaneMoncktonSmith #AshleyFlynn #SuzanneMorphew #BarryMorphew #CalebFlynn #TrueCrime #IntimatePartnerViolence #Stalking #DVHomicide #CrimeAnalysis #VictimSafety #BehavioralAnalysis #DV #DomesticViolence #GIS #Mapping #CrimeMapping #esri========================================CrimeCon Discount Code: https://crimecon.regfox.com/cctw3ntys1x (In Voucher/Coupon area, enter: PROFILINGEVIL========================================https://gamutpodcasts.com/show/gardensofevilinsidethezionsocietycult/========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

We're learning more about the early confusion over a second possible suspect, the digital evidence investigators tried to pull and the surveillance trail that places Tyler Robinson on the roof above the event. We'll talk about that alleged letter, and the messages prosecutors say point to planning and admission. Will all this expose why the defense is focused so hard on whether the state can prove which weapon fired the fatal shot? #CharlieKirk #TylerRobinson #ErikaKirk #LanceTwiggs #UVU #UtahValleyUniversity #ProfilingEvil #TrueCrime #Crime #profiling #investigation #Forensics #Utah #murder #GIS #Esri #Maps #Mapping #CrimeMap========================================CrimeCon Discount Code: https://crimecon.regfox.com/cctw3ntys1x (In Voucher/Coupon area, enter: PROFILINGEVIL========================================https://gamutpodcasts.com/show/gardensofevilinsidethezionsocietycult/========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

Summer Wells, Five Years Later, What Still Makes Sense & What Doesn't | Profiling Evil

Five years after Summer Moon-Utah Wells vanished from her home in Hawkins County, Tennessee, this case still remains unsolved. In this episode, we'll take a fresh look at what the Summer Wells investigation is really about, what has actually happened in the last year, and what the strongest theories look like when you peel back the rumors, focus on the evidence and evaluate search science, child behavior, and investigative protocols. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says the case remains active, the AMBER Alert remains active, and investigators are still working alongside the FBI and the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office. They have also made clear that there is still no publicly identified evidence of abduction but they are making it clear that they have not ruled out any possibility. Let's walk through four major questions. First, what the Summer Wells investigation is really about. Second, what the main theories look like after five years, including abduction, trafficking, murder, accident or even natural causes death. Third, what search and rescue research says about how a five-year-old child can move, hide, become quiet, get disoriented, and remain hard to find even in an aggressive search. Fourth, what we can reasonably learn, and not overclaim, from watching Don Wells and Candus Bly over time, including the pressure of losing their other children to the state, the later reporting that they signed over rights to their boys, and the way grief, public suspicion, and repeated scrutiny can harden a family into a defensive posture. #SummerWells #SummerMoonUtahWells #FindSummerWells #DonWells #CandusBly #RonnieLawson #HawkinsCountySheriff #TBI #TennesseeBureauOfInvestigation #FBI #NCMEC #MissingChild #BeechCreek #Rogersville #TrueCrime #ProfilingEvil #GIS #Mapping #CrimeMapping #Esri #SearchandRescue========================================CrimeCon Discount Code: https://crimecon.regfox.com/cctw3ntys1x (In Voucher/Coupon area, enter: PROFILINGEVIL========================================https://gamutpodcasts.com/show/gardensofevilinsidethezionsocietycult/========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================
