Why did God call our church into existence? Aren't there already more than enough churches in the world? What is our unique vision and mission? This Sunday we'll wrap up our “Called Together” sermon series by exploring those questions – because the truth is: God has given us an AMAZING and COMPELLING mission! And we get to be part of it!
Is life wearing you out? Are you feeling dry and thirsty? Life can be brutal. So how do we replenish ourselves and find strength for the journey. The answer the Bible gives is worship. From the beginning of time, worship has been at the heart of living a life of faith. Every generation of believers, in every culture, have included worship songs as a central element of their weekly gathering. Why? What are we missing? What is worship? Why do we need it? And how do we do it?
This Sunday Pastor Jeff resumes our sermon series entitled “Called Together,” as we continue exploring various questions about what it means to be church together. We've already explored why you need us, and why we need you. Now this week we'll explore why the world needs us. Given the way many churches are these days, lots of people might say that church is the last thing the world needs more of! Sadly, there's a lot of truth to that. But what if churches lived up the fullness of Jesus' vision? What would that look like? And how can we be that? Join us on Sunday for a thought-provoking sermon.
This week, Pastor Tim preaches from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, where the Apostle Paul answers some profound questions in the life of the church, and ultimately provides us a vision for what the church is to value in its coming together. Support the show
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF CHURCH Matthew 16:13-20 John McGinley
Lots of people ask "Why should I go to church?" To answer this question I explain what the church is according to the Bible, that it is NOT your particular denomination or group of people, but that it is the people who choose to follow Christ. This means all of us; from those who just decided today after they committed a terrible crime, to the wise old person that has been trying to live a Holy life for the last 70 years. You will find the whole spectrum of humanity when you walk into a "church" in modern day America. This is why you should not worry about the reasons NOT to go to church. The real question, maybe, should be; "What is the Purpose of Church"? and do I want to be a part of it? Let's get into it, listen to this episode today and let me know your thoughts! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/pastorsteven153/support

A new MP3 sermon from First Baptist Church is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Purpose of Church Discipline Subtitle: 2 Corinthians Speaker: Jason Gunter Broadcaster: First Baptist Church Event: Sunday Service Date: 7/7/2024 Bible: 2 Corinthians 2:4-11 Length: 43 min.
The Purpose of Church Series continues with learning about what the church provides. We see during this service that the body of Christ is used by the Spirit to minister to others in the congregation. As we mature in our faith the Lord begins to entrust us to be vessels to others.
We continue to learn more about the local church and why it is important that we meet. Part of meeting within the body is seeing the manifestation of the gifts. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom and we will see signs of His presence.
As we enter into a new series, the Purpose of Church, we believe that the Holy Spirit will bring fresh revelation to you about why you go to church. Church is not a building, it's a people. Continue on this journey with us, as we dive deeper into the different purposes of the church.

In hiking, there's a term that every experienced hiker or mountaineer knows - a false summit. False summits lure us into thinking we've arrived when we're actually far from our destination. When you feel like giving up or you're discouraged, then you need to beware of a false summit mindset. In this message, Pastor Scott shares how God has been at work at Cornerstone in the past year and how we can avoid the danger of false summits as we follow Jesus together.

288. The Purpose Of Church / How To BE The Church by David Grams
Ask most believers about the purpose of church, and they'll say it's for praise, worship and the teaching of God's word. But what if the Scriptures say no such thing? What if our ideas for why the church even exists has been completely and hopelessly wrong? In this episode, Kevin reveals the true, biblical purpose of "church"—what the Bible depicts for our believer's gatherings, for our believing communities, and for all of us collectively as Yeshua's united Body. This Sunday we celebrate the 32nd Anniversary of the founding of our church! Everyone is invited to our All-Church Picnic that will take place after the 11:00 o'clock worship service – bring a dish to share. We'll also be baptizing, inducting new members, and awarding anniversary membership pins during both worship services. Welcome to Grace in Focus radio. Today, Bob Wilkin, Steve Elkins and Ken Yates are answering a question about the purpose of Church discipline. Can a born again person be sexually immoral? Some think not. But if so, can you share a meal with them? What is the true purpose of Church discipline? You will
I want to talk to you today about the local church. Church wasn't my idea or man's idea, it was God's idea. We don't carry it on because it's a tradition, but instead because the Bible instructs us to be part of a church body. Some of the strongest relationships can be forged in a church together, as well as interacting with some of the most interesting and encouraging believers you can meet. In the passage of 1 Timothy 3, Paul had spent several years investing in the church of Ephesus before Timothy became the leading pastor of it. He takes some time here to instruct Timothy how a local church should be structured, which serves as our blueprint for how to achieve a successful local church and what its purpose should be.
In this episode, the hosts discuss the meaning and purpose of church membership and its implications for everyday believers.
This week we will be taking a look at the Purpose of the Church, and more than likely a perspective you don't often hear or are encouraged to consider in terms of our current culture.

For many of us, our relationship to church has been through some changes over the past few years. So as we're navigating those changes and determining the place of church in this season of our lives, it's important to reflect on the purpose of church. What's church ultimately about and what's our role in it? Pentecost is the perfect opportunity to give some thought to these questions as we explore the story of how the church began.
