Sabrina starts to go against the church and we start to see just how Catholic the whole witch society is. We discuss how men have assumed leadership in the Church of Night, the matriarchy of the Spellman household, our love of Ambrose, Prudence being the most savvy character so far, Daniel Webster attorney at law, and what led to the Spellman parents getting two conflicting baptisms. We also have plenty of tangents on shows we used to watch during the cast section. Our amazing cover art is by vedrinic and you can follow them at https://vedrinic.tumblr.comEpisode 20 content warnings: religion, Catholicism, misogyny, toxic masculinity, patriarchy, death, murder, emotional abuse, religion, witchcraft, satanic worship, paganism, horror, child murderTheme song: "Spellcraft" by Geoff HarveyGeoff Harvey - PixabayFollow us on bluesky @dead-ends.bsky.socialSend your podcast or show questions to our inbox at deadendspcast@gmail.com.Find all of Emily's links here: https://linktr.ee/emilypyleFind all of Brenton's here: https://linktr.ee/brentonpyle

This week, Tommy is joined by actor Gavin Leatherwood, who became a household name by playing the beloved role as a warlock named Nicholas in the hit Netflix drama series, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Just in time for spooky season, his latest film, It's What's Inside, drops October 4th on Netflix. It was the largest acquisition out of Sundance in 2024, and Netflix paid a record breaking $17 million for this psychological thriller. Today, Gavin opens up about if he often thinks about his time on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, his thoughts on revisiting the series if a reboot or spin-off came around, what he really thought about how the series ended, the spontaneous adventure he went on right after the series wrapped, why playing a character so opposite of him in It's What's Inside was so fulfilling, who he would choose to swap bodies with if given the chance, why he always wants to continue pushing himself out of his comfort zone, his complicated relationship with social media, how he protects his mental health, why the company he keeps is so important to him, how he actively tries to eliminate the phrase “I hate” from his vocabulary, and so much more. Sabrina has to face the Witches Council for an accusation of conspiring with a mortal against the Church of Night. It will take a series of unnatural tests to prove her innocence, but none of it will bring her beloved Harvey back. She'll have to take matters into her own hands to find Harvey's missing soul. Recruiting two other young witches (from a neighboring coven), Sabrina holds a séance, but as ever, Madame Satan is pulling the strings behind the scenes, and what Sabrina taps into is much more dangerous -- and diabolical. And will send our beloved teen witch on an epic quest.
Every witch needs a familiar, and through the ages, Salem has faithfully fulfilled his duties to Sabrina. This chapter lifts back the cloak of time to reveal the dark history of how Salem came to be and serve his master.
There are some things in this world that mortal eyes should never witness -- that's a lesson poor HARVEY KINKLE will learn the hard way, when he makes the unfortunate mistake of intruding on the darkest of ceremonies -- an offense that the witches' coven takes very seriously... Though HARVEY's life hangs in the balance, it is the SPELLMAN family that will come face-to-face with TRUE EVIL. Indeed, the choices made by teen-witch-in-training SABRINA on this dread night will determine the fate of every living soul in Greendale...
It's the night before Halloween, the night before SABRINA's sixteenth birthday, the night of the blood-moon and the lunar eclipse, and SABRINA has made her decision: She will go into the woods of Greendale as a half-witch and emerge... on the other side of a frightful ritual... as a fully baptized member of the Church of Night. But there will be a cost, and his name is HARVEY. And unbeknownst to SABRINA and her aunts, there is a serpent in the garden, their great enemy MADAM SATAN, conspiring against them.
On the eve of Sabrina's sixteenth birthday, she faces a choice that will determine her destiny as a half-witch/half-mortal, an unspeakable terror arrives in Greendale, and her name is... MADAM SATAN! At long last, the secret history of the Queen of Hell is revealed, and she sets her vengeful gaze upon the SPELLMAN family. No one, especially those close to Sabrina, is safe, and very, very soon, the quiet streets of Greendale will run red with blood.
On an all new episode of The Escapist Comics Podcast, it's no holds barred at the DC Fandome! We discuss all the trailers that were dropped over the weekend and try to figure out The Rock's training routine for Black Adam. Vibe Check Welcome to our very special MOM episode! Gwen works with her mom and admires her ambition, as well as her eye-opening carpool tactics. Danielle learned to make time for herself from her mom, who has two masters and her PhD, all of which she earned AFTER she had kids. Our moms are the very best! Pop Culture MOMS! Gwen chose two Iconic TV moms: Lorelai Gilmore from Gilmore Girls and Lucille Bluth (RIP Jessica Walters) from Arrested Development – both of whom could be considered terrible mothers... Danielle: Clair Huxtable really had it all. Molly Weasley from the HP series, especially when she takes out Bellatrix. Rainbow Johnson from Black-ish because she's quirky and always there for her kids. Morticia Addams wasn't afraid to show affection to Gomez. Marmee from Little Women is perhaps the quintessential mother. (Also, terrible moms: Lily Vander Woodsen from Gossip Girl, Ellis Grey on Grey's Anatomy, also ALL the parents on Riverdale—loved this PopBuzz article dissecting why!)
