Martin e noi abbiamo pensato di fare esattamente così.Tyrion entra a Volantis come uno schiavo, legato mani e piedi e portato a cavallo come se fosse un sacco di patate. Il cavaliere non lo degna nemmeno di uno sguardo, dice che lo lega così per il suo bene, a Volantis non parlano con gli schiavi, in questo modo non rischia una fuga improvvisa o un riconoscimento non gradito. Tyrion è ormai rassegnato al suo destino e quasi prega che la morte avvenga il più presto possibile; è stanco di aspettare legato come un animale a un cavallo che il suo aguzzino si ostina a cavalcare attraverso l'intera Volantis. Dalla porta più a nord, da dove sono entrati, passando per la piazza sotto il Tempio del Dio Rosso R'hollor, e attraverso l'esotico Ponte Lungo pieno di botteghe di ogni tipo e mercanti da ogni dove, finalmente arrivano a destinazione: la sponda ovest della Rhoyne, dove Volantis diventa più popolare e meno nobile, dove possono finalmente trovare riparo e riposare. Le catene di Tyrion nel frattempo sono cambiate, dalla corda al ferro battuto, sempre sotto la scusa che sono per il suo bene.Lui e Ser Jorah passano una notte piuttosto tranquilla, parlando un po' delle usanze della più grande figlia di Valyria.È al mattino che la situazione si fa interessante. Simon and Mackelly carefully examine their extremities.Chapter ReviewGriff, Jon Connington, leads young Griff, Aegon Targaryen, to the encampment of the Golden Company. They are led to the commander's tent. Within Homeless Harry Strickland is bathing his sore toes, Connington is not impressed. He'd been uncertain of his reception as he had left the company in disgrace a dozen years earlier. However, the assembled captains appear to be aware of the ruse and the contract with Ilyrio Mopatis to fight for Young Griff. The prince's true identity is revealed to a lack of surprise. Talk turns to how they might get him to Daenerys. All routes seem problematic. Eventually Aegon himself offers an alternative. He is the only dragon they need. Why not go to Westeros and stake his claim there? Daenerys can have Meereen. The captains rally to this call and Connington is impressed by his young charge. Aegon is taken to meet the men, with the Young Griff persona back in place. Meanwhile Connington examines his fingers that are clearly showing the signs of greyscale. He hopes that he can live long enough to see his Prince back on the throne and for his bones to be laid to rest in Griffin's Roost.Young Griff/Aegon Targaryen - Teenage nephew of Daenerys. On a detour to a brothel during a fact-finding mission, he's waylaid by a bear-like Westerosi knight who plans to take him to the Queen. Mackelly and Simon wonder which queen?Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister wakes aboard the Shy Maid. His companions have pulled him from the river and are treating his extremities with vinegar to prevent greyscale infection. He must prick his extremities every few hours to check for loss of feeling.He talks to Young Griff (aka Aegon Targaryen) over a game of cyvasse. The young man shares what he's been told of his rescue. When things looked bad in King's Landing, Varys paid a tanner for his baby and smuggled the real Aegon across the Narrow Sea to Ilyrio Mopatis. Tyrion gives the young prince a few useful lessons, in particular not to expect a warm welcome from Aunty Daenerys. And to perhaps go to Dorne and lay his claim to the Iron Throne for himself. Then when they do reunite, it will be as equals.Tyrion visits Selhorys with Haldon. They learn that the Red Priests are singing Dany's praises, that she is Azor Ahai reborn. But that the nobility of the Rhoyne are very much opposed to her thwarting of the slave trade. Dopo vari aggiornamenti sul ragazzo, Young Griff, e delle recenti informazioni sui khalasar che infestano la zona dalle Velvet Hill fino a Qohor, i tre si mettono in cammino verso la meta: Ghoyan Drohe, un'antica città rhoynar sulla sponda sud della Piccola Rhoyne, un affluente della grande Madre Rhoyne dove troveranno la Shy Maid e tutti gli altri loro compagni. Durante il viaggio a cavallo, Haldon e Tyrion si stuzzicano a vicenda poiché Haldon ha probabilmente capito (??) chi è il piccolo Hugor Hill, in arte Yollo, ma in realtà l'unico a raccontare davvero la sua storia è Duck, originario di Bitterbridge e scappato dalla casa dei Casswell per aver picchiato l'erede.Sulla Shy Maid li accolgono i due Griff, il vecchio e il giovane, entrambi dai capelli blu e dal passato oscuro e misterioso. Sarà compito di Tyrion scoprire le loro vere origini. È con il Griff adulto che Tyrion si confronta per primo; Illyrio infatti ha scritto per lui una lettera spiegando la vera identità di Tyrion e la sua potenziale utilità nella missione. Tyrion non manca di notare che Griff mente, e anche male.Le giornate sulla Shy Maid procedono lente e monotone, tra un allenamento alle armi e una lezione di storia e geografia. Tyrion è curioso e osserva soprattutto i nuovi compagni: i coniugi Yandry e Ysilla, septa Lemore, la più bella e intrigante e Griff, sempre taciturno e pieno di rabbia e dolore.Inesorabilmente si avvicinano alla vera corrente della Rhoyne e con essa Tyrion inizia a sentire l'influenza delle mille leggende e storie che circondano questa nuova parte di mondo che sta visitando: dalle guerre contro l'antica Valyria ai semidei che popolano le acque del grande fiume, come il Signore del Sudario o il Vecchio Uomo del Fiume. La loro meta è Volantis, ma per raggiungerla dovranno passare per Ny Sar, la città di Nymeria, e Chroyane, nel Sorrows, la parte più larga e misteriosa della Rhoyne.In tutto questo, Tyrion partecipa all'educazione del Giovane Griff scrivendo su carta tutta la sua conoscenza sui draghi e, mentre si sforza di ricordare, impara a giocare bene a cyvasse tanto che sfida Haldon a duello.Tyrion quel duello lo vince e così facendo ottiene la verità su un re, un certo Lord Perduto e la loro missione verso la Madre dei Draghi.Ovviamente condividete su tutte le piattaforme, spargete la voce e mettete like al video. Mackelly and Simon reach for their goggles.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister and his companions aboard the Shy Maid have reached a ruined city along the Rhoyne now called the Sorrows. A mysterious, unnatural fog surrounds the Shy Maid, unsettling its passengers. Passing ruins like the Palace of Love, Tyrion reflects on Tysha and Jaime's betrayal.A man aboard the Kingfisher, a boat traveling in the opposite direction, calls out to them. Yandry asks about news from Volantis. The man says the city will be engaged in the war by the end of the year. This bothers Griff, Illyrio Mopatis has paid one of the city's triarchs many times over for the man's support of Dany.Nearing the Bridge of Dream, Griff orders Young Griff below to avoid the dangerous stone men. When he resists, Tyrion reveals he knows Young Griff's true identity and urges him to obey. Tyrion also exposes Griff as Jon Connington, former Hand of the King and Rhaegar's friend. For his final party trick, Tyrion outs himself as Tyrion of House Lannister. Though they initially pass the bridge safely, they somehow pass beneath the bridge a second time. She shows signs of having given birth at some prior point, but remains an attractive woman. Ysilla makes breakfast and keeps all at bay, with the exception of Young Griff whom she plies with more than he needs.Duck spars with Young Griff, Haldon teaches him languages, geography, geometry, and history. It seems that Tyrion will contribute to this expansive education: he's been tasked with writing down all he can recall about raising and breeding dragons. Haldon offers Tyrion a game of cyvasse while Young Griff studies further with Septa Lemore. Haldon has beaten Tyrion every previous game, so he eagerly accepts Tyrion's wager that the loser must share some secrets. Martin e noi abbiamo pensato di fare esattamente così.Imbottigliato e spedito per direttissima attraverso il Mare Stretto, Tyrion capisce ben poco del viaggio verso Pentos. Tra sensi di colpa, rabbia e vino, il giovane Lannister riflette sul suo più grande crimine: il kinslaying. Cinico e sempre pessimista, durante la traversata pondera le sue opzioni: a Dorne da Myrcella o alla Barriera da Ser Janos Slynt? Con enorme sorpresa di tutti, invece, incontriamo una vecchia conoscenza: Illyrio Mopatis. È proprio nei suoi palazzi che Tyrion è trascinato quasi in coma etilico. Anche qui, Tyrion trascorre le sue giornate bevendo e parlando troppo, tra un pensiero suicida e uno omicida. Troverà proprio a casa di Illyrio dei funghetti che si porterà appresso fino alla fine.Da buon oste, Illyrio offre a Tyrion vitto e alloggio e anche un obiettivo: un certo drago a tre teste.Per raggiungere Daenerys, quindi, i due uomini si avviano per le strade valyriane attraverso Andalos verso il fiume Rhoyne, dove incontreranno un mediatore, Griff, e suo figlio, il giovane Griff, che accompagneranno Tyrion alla corte di Daenerys verso la Baia degli Schiavisti, o se gli dei vogliono anche a metà strada, cioè a Volantis, la più grande tra le figlie dell'impero valyriano. Durante gli interminabili giorni di viaggio, Tyrion viene aggiornato sul chi sia questa figlia del Re Folle, sulle sue conquiste e sulla sua squisita personalità e di come lei e soltanto lei sia riuscita nell'impresa titanica di far rinascere i draghi. Beh, la spiegazione è così semplice che al Lannister sembra quasi isterica, a tratti troppo banale; Illyrio si ricorda infatti che Viserys, il fratello più grande di Daenerys, gli aveva promesso che l'avrebbe promosso a Maestro del Conio una volta diventato re, e il Magistro di Pentos spera che la sorella mantenga la promessa.Tra banchetti a bordo della lettiga e notti di vino e chiacchiere, veniamo a scoprire anche il profondo legame che intercorre tra Varys l'eunuco e Illyrio, amicizia che va avanti da decenni, tra Pentos, Myr e Approdo del Re. Veniamo anche a scoprire la storia di Hugor Hill, colui che ha portato gli Annali e il Credo dei Sette a Westeros e ci viene rivelato che, con grande sorpresa di Tyrion, la Compagnia Dorata ha reciso un sacro contratto per andare in aiuto alla regina Targaryen. Un'enorme serie di stranezze e una confessione di amor perduto di Illyrio portano alla mente di Tyrion ancora una volta Tysha, suo fratello e suo padre, sia sotto forma di ricordi che sotto forma di sogni… d'altronde è solo immaginando che Tyrion può essere amato. Mackelly and Simon ponder the possibilities. Chapter ReviewTyrion is passed from Illyrio to Haldon the Half-Maester and Ser Rolly “Duck” Duckworth, along with letters, chests, and candy for young Griff. As they depart Tyrion sees Mopatis looking forlorn. Duck provides his life story, including being dubbed by Griff watched by Ducks, confirming his nickname. When they reach the Little Rhoyne at the ruined city of Ghoyan Drohe, they rendezvous with the riverboat, the Shy Maid. They are welcomed by Young Griff who dyes his hair blue in the Tyroshi fashion - after his mother - but Tyrion thinks that it won't fly in Westeros. Griff the elder is far from pleased to welcome Tyrion. A letter from Mopatis explains what is going on, but doesn't change his mood. He thinks Danaerys would be well advised to reject a kin and kingslayer from her service. But Tyrion catches him in several lies and suspects who Griff might truly be.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Tyrion Lannister - Youngest son of Tywin Lannister whom he recently murdered. Simon and Mackelly consider opening our first branch of our Essosi travel agency.Chapter Review:Quentyn Martell tries to find passage from Volantis to Slaver's Bay. But despite the abundance of ships, nobody wants to take him. The autumn brings storms to the southern seas, and with the Dragon Queen upending the normal order of things, there's little prospect for trade with any of the cities in Slaver's Bay.He and his friend Gerris Drinkwater return to their lodgings, taking in the sites of Volantis. It's the largest of the free cities, sitting at the mouth of the mighty Rhoyne river. They consider their options: go home - Quentyn couldn't stand to return a failure, risk a journey with an untrustworthy captain, or go by land - the option favored by their final companion Archibald Yronwood. However, the length of the journey by land and the hazardous reputation of the road gives them pause.Outside their inn they're propositioned by recruiters for the Windblown - sellswords headed to Yunkai to fight Astapor. Mackelly and Simon try to imagine what that must be like.Chapter Review:Tyrion Lannister and Illyrio Mopatis leave Pentos in a closed palanquin. Nobody can know of Tyrion's presence or destination. He thinks that between the sailors and Mopatis' servants the word is already out. But his host is confident of their discretion. Tyrion is doubtful. Tyrion tries to unearth Mopatis' true motivations in helping Daenerys Targaryen regain the Iron Throne. The Pentosi claims that he just wants to help the young girl he fell in love with, that he was promised a Westerosi lordship and the role of Master of Coin. None of that convinces Tyrion. They're headed east toward the Rhoyne, where Tyrion will go south by river to Volantis. There Mopatis expects he'll rendezvous with Daenerys and her growing army. Sono luoghi di musica, arte, e anche magia, quella dell'acqua praticata dagli stregoni, che sfruttando il fiume sanno innalzare vere e proprie mura d'acqua per affogare i nemici... non che ne abbiano bisogno, sono un popolo pacifico, la loro magia è difensiva, così come i loro guerrieri, formidabili e con tecnologie più avanzate di altri popoli, nessuno li disturba davvero. Finché, almeno, non entrano in contatto con l'impero valyriano in espansione. Dopo due secoli e mezzo di guerra, si raggiunge il culmine, e il principe Garin di Chroyane vuole cacciare a tutti i costi gli invasori valyriani, unendo tutte le città Rhoynar per formare il più grande esercito che Essos abbia mai visto.
