JESUS IS A LAMB AND A LION As a lamb, Christ was our sin offering. As a lamb, He was born in a place where lambs were born. As a lamb, he was laid in a stone feeding trough, where sheep ate. And as a lamb, He visited by shepherds who were in the fields watching sheep who would one day be offered as sacrifices. As a lamb, He depended on His parents who were His assigned shepherds, but like a lion, the lamb boldly reasoned with theologians at 12 years of age. As a lamb, He was tempted in the wilderness but like a lion, God’s lamb overcame the tempter with His voice, “Get behind me satan!” As a lamb, He was sleeping during a storm but like a lion the lamb of God stood up and said, “Peace be still.” As a lamb, He was beaten with a whip, but like a lion he made a whip and used it to cleanse the temple. As a lamb, He died as our sacrifice but like a lion, He conquered death. As a lamb, He wept at Lazarus’ tomb but like a lion He roared, “Come forth!” As a lamb, He allowed people to touch Him, but like a lion He boldly cast out demons. As a lamb, He was led to the slaughter for us but like a lion, the lamb of God arose from the dead. He came as a lamb, slain from the world’s foundation, but He’s coming back as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Those messianic promises that were not yet fulfilled, He will fulfill as the Lion of Judah. Sam Storms says, “The Lion in whom we find unimpeachable authority is also the Lamb who embodies humility and meekness in the highest degree.” He continues, “The Lion who wields power and strength that none can resist is also the Lamb who walked the earth in weakness and suffering, resisting none.” The same Jesus! He who laid down all His rights, has now received all authority. This lion-like Lamb is also the lamb-like Lion, most worthy of our best praise and selfless worship, undying devotion and sacrificial service. Jesus is a Lamb and a Lion. Alan Latta August 17, 2025

Author, pastor, and scholar Sam Storms will join us to unpack the meaning and power of prayer through a close reading of Scripture with special focus on the life and ministry of Jesus, the apostle Paul, and James. With scholarly wisdom and pastoral application, he will address topics like persisting in prayer, praying for pleasure, and warfare prayer, exploring how prayer is a profoundly supernatural experience. Come with us on a journey into the heart of prayer and learn how to transform it from a mere ritual to a deeply personal spiritual experience that develops and grows our knowledge, understanding, and hunger for God.Become a Parshall Partner: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/inthemarket/partnersSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
