Filling this need since the mid 90s has been the Dutch company Radical Design. We talk to owner Kyra Ottens and product designer Roman Schaffroth to discuss the history, products and how those amazing bags are designed and manufactured. As the northern hemisphere plunges headlong into the winter season we thought it was the perfect time to have a look at best practices for bent riding in cold weather. Who better to help us than former Hostel Shoppe mechanic Scott Christopherson? Scott still lives in northern Wisconsin and tells us how he prepares for triking in snow and ice. Denny updates us on some cancelled ultra races and shares a couple more bent friendly ones that are coming up. In the fifth week of the ReCycle podcast, Ryan, Sean, and Jake rewatched the 2012 road game against Kansas State, also known as the Scott Christopherson game. The game was competitive, back-and-forth, and fun but the guys focus mainly on the season with Royce White more than the game itself. With the usual segments, the guys also rank the current basketball jerseys, argue who the best shooter in school history is and how far this team could’ve gone if they didn’t run into Anthony Davis. It’s a fun look back to the very early Hoiberg era, give it a listen and eat some Es Tas tacos!
Lodge Kerrigan's Clean, Shaven is intense. It's not entirely clear what exactly is happening within the film narrative and what is just the main characters auditory (and possibly visual) hallucinations. But one thing that is clear is that the public and the authorities do not know how to compassionately react to our main character. So quick point, however you feel about police as a group, it's not their job to help people having psychological breakdowns, and don't call the gun people when you need someone with different tools. In that regard see Scott Christopherson and Brad Barber's documentary Peace Officer. It's estimated that between a third and a half of people killed by police every year have a disability and that the majority of those are mental illness, autism, or developmental disabilities. You can save a life by finding an alternative to calling the police.

This week on BEHIND THE LENS, debbie and her cinematic co-host Greg Srisavasdi welcome director Gil Cates, Jr. and screenwriter/producer Jeff Gendelman who talk in-depth about their latest film, THE SURFACE. And the unforgettable Head Crazy Bitch herself, writer/director Jane Clark is back to enlighten us about CRAZIER BITCHES, the much talked about sequel to CRAZY BITCHES, and the current IndieGoGo campaign in which all of our listeners can participate and become a part of THE CRAZY B NATION! Then we hear some more of debbie's exclusive interview with PEACE OFFICER writer/director Scott Christopherson, plus an enthralling five minute filmmaking synopsis of THE GREEN INFERNO by Eli Roth. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
This week on BEHIND THE LENS, debbie welcomes some very eclectic filmmakers talking about very unique – and fun – films. First up, director Madellaine Paxson joins debbie live to talk about her first feature film, BLOOD PUNCH. What makes Paxson's choice of BLOOD PUNCH even more interesting as her feature directorial debut is that her prior work, and that of BLOOD PUNCH writer Eddie Guzelian, has been as screenwriter for such terrific kids programming as "Power Rangers RPM", "The Tigger Movie", "Go, Diego, Go!" and more! From kids to comedic horror. And Madellaine explains it all! Then writer/director Phil Allocco is live talking about his latest rom com charmer, THE TRUTH ABOUT LIES; and when I say charmer, I do mean charmer! And listen to some powerful excerpts of debbie's exclusive interview with RACING EXTINCTION director, Louie Psihoyos, as they talk about one of the "Must See" documentaries of the year. Plus, in the last segment, you'll hear a little bit from debbie's exclusive director Scott Christopherson and former Utah Sheriff Dub Lawrence for some insight into the documentary PEACE OFFICER. In these troubled times post-Ferguson and continuing allegations of excessive force by police around the country, Dub Lawrence brings his personal story and personal tragedy to us with insight and objectivity. http://behindthelensonline.net http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com

Subscribe to this podcast on iTunes by clicking here: http://bit.ly/ymotwitunes or on Stitcher by clicking here: http://bit.ly/ymotwstitcher. Documentary filmmaker Scott Christopherson and his directorial partner Brad Barber have been invited to premier their film at the SXSW Film Festival. The riveting film, Peace Officer, was inspired by the case of a former County Sheriff whose son-in-law was killed by the SWAT team he formed decades earlier. [Note, Christopherson is my wife's niece's husband.] Christopherson shared an early version of the completed film with me to review. It is an extraordinary documentary, as compelling as any feature film I’ve seen, outshining masters of the genre like Morgan Spurlock and Michael Moore. The film is aided by a dynamic true-life character, former Sheriff William Lawrence. Commenting on the film’s controversial topic, Christopherson said, “The militarization of police is very complex and challenging. The culture of many police forces in the U.S. plays a role in how police act. There is a difference and a connection between the militarization of police and the culture of police. In many ways, those two ideas are connected. The increase in the number of SWAT raids in America since the 1970s is astonishing.” William Lawrence in Peace Officer William Lawrence in Peace Officer Barber and Christopherson are crowdfunding on Kickstarter (http://kck.st/1Gs24Vz), where it was recently named the campaign a “staff pick.” Please consider whether a friend or colleague might benefit from this piece and, if so, share it.
