“Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you.” (John 14:27) In today's Rise Up reflection, Fr. Jonathan Meyer asks a timely question: Does our world need peace? The answer is obvious—but the solution is not. While the world pursues peace through laws, treaties, and diplomacy, Jesus brings peace in a radically different way: through the cross, through forgiveness, through reconciliation. If we want true peace, we must live like Jesus—by loving, forgiving, and letting go of bitterness. Be a peacemaker. Be a witness. Let the peace of Christ dwell in you and flow through you to the world. #RiseUp #CatholicFaith #PeaceOfChrist #GospelReflection #ChristianPeace #HolyWeek #DailyGospel #JesusIsPeace
Read OnlineJesus said to his disciples: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you.” John 14:27So how does the peace that Jesus gives you differ from the apparent peace that the world gives? We all want peace in life. The desire for interior peace is written upon our very nature. And though many people make choices that lead to interior disorder and even chaos, those choices are often made out of a confused sense of what actually provides fulfillment. For example, those who choose to feed an addiction to drugs or alcohol often began that addiction out of a misguided desire for happiness. The temporary fix experienced gives the temporary sense of well-being. But objectively speaking, it is very clear that the temporary “peace” one receives from these actions leads ultimately to a loss of the very thing they desire. And when these choices become addictions, the person often finds themself trapped in a downward spiral. There are also countless other ways in which people find themselves seeking satisfaction and fulfillment in life. Money, promiscuity, cheating, selfishness, anger, deception, and the like are all actions that are done with the intent of some satisfaction. Our daily goal must be to unmask those deceptive actions so that we can see them for what they are and for the fruit that they produce. These are clearly among the many ways that the “world” offers us peace. When it comes to true happiness in life, the gift of true interior peace is one of the clearest signs that we are on the right track and are making the right decisions. When we choose the will of God each and every day, those choices may be difficult and require much initial sacrifice. Love can be hard. Faithfulness to the moral law of God can be challenging. And refusing to sin is difficult. But choosing the will of God throughout our day, every day, will begin to produce within us the consoling and sustaining gift of the peace of Christ.True peace produces strength. It leads to interior integrity and wholeness. It produces clarity of thought and certitude in convictions. God's peace leads to more peace. It leads to choices based on well-thought-out actions of love. Peace leads us to the will of God, and the will of God leads to peace. The cyclical effect is exponential and is one of the clearest guides to happiness in life. Reflect, today, upon whether you truly have peace in your heart. Do you recognize the still, strong and sustaining presence of God within your soul? Do your daily choices produce greater integrity of heart and clarity of mind? Do you find that you have joy and calm, even in the midst of life's greatest challenges? Seek out this peace, for if you do, you will be seeking out the good God Who produces this glorious gift within your heart. My Lord of true peace, You and Your holy will are the only path to the deepest fulfillment of all of my desires in life. When I make poor choices that lead to disorder and confusion, help me to turn to You with all my heart. Please unmask any deception I struggle with and give me the strength I need to seek You and Your peace alone. Today's Promise: John 16:33 Jesus promises you peace. Peace isn't the absence of conflict, problems, or difficulties. Peace comes from understanding that God is in control and that He cares for you. Peace comes from living under the reign of Christ in your life. When you live in the peace of Christ, He gives you peace with your past, peace in your heart, and peace in the storm. Jesus never guaranteed a problem-free life. He even said you will have problems and difficulties. However, He also promised that because He overcame the world, His peace will rest on you.
Love God. Love People.
“The Peace of Christ” Colossians 3:15-17 Rex Durham
Reformed Brotherhood | Sound Doctrine, Systematic Theology, and Brotherly Love
In this episode of The Reformed Brotherhood, Jesse and Tony explore Colossians 3:18-4:1, diving deep into the transformative power of Christ in shaping Christian character and community. They discuss how the peace of Christ and the message of Christ should define the daily lives of believers, emphasizing the importance of embodying virtues such as compassion, kindness, humility, and patience. The hosts remind listeners that putting on Christ is not aspirational, but rather a reality that defines the Christian life, as believers grow into the character already granted to them through their union with Christ. The conversation moves into the practical implications of sanctification, particularly how it shapes relationships within the church and beyond. Jesse and Tony reflect on how Christians are called to handle conflict and disagreements in ways that are radically different from the world, focusing on forgiveness, love, and unity. They highlight the necessity of yielding to Christ's work in us and how this impacts our daily interactions with others, whether in the church, family, or workplace. The episode also touches on the communal responsibilities of believers, such as teaching and admonishing one another, and the role of worship in fostering unity and growth. The hosts discuss how musical worship, prayer, and scripture reading are all essential practices that both encourage and challenge believers to grow in Christlikeness. This practical and theological exploration offers listeners valuable insights into how to live out the gospel in community and reflect Christ's character in all areas of life. Key Points: The Transformative Power of Christ: The hosts explain how putting on Christ means embodying virtues like compassion, kindness, and humility, which are already part of a believer's identity in Christ. Sanctification and Relationships: Jesse and Tony discuss how sanctification impacts relationships, encouraging Christians to handle conflict with grace and forgiveness, reflecting the gospel in their behavior. The Role of Worship and Community: The importance of mutual teaching, admonishing, and worship within the church is emphasized as a way to build unity and grow in spiritual maturity. Questions for Reflection: How does understanding that Christian character is already ours in Christ shape the way we live and interact with others? In what ways can we handle conflict within the church or family in a manner that reflects the peace of Christ? How can worship, including the singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, help us grow in unity and spiritual maturity? Recommended Resources: The Spirit of Prayer (Free eBook) - Download here

Would they win by arguing? Never, a small-town leader warned residents in Adirondack Park where a pitched battle between environmentalists and small-business owners ignited the “Adirondack Wars.” The name described their fight whether to save the area’s pristine wilderness in upstate New York or develop it. “Go back wherever you came from!” a local leader had shouted at an environmentalist. But soon a new message emerged. “Don’t yell at each other. Try to talk to each other.” A Common Ground Alliance was formed to build bridges between warring factions. Civic dialogue led to progress—with nearly a million acres of wild land protected even as Adirondack towns grew more prosperous than they’d been in twenty years. Peaceful coexistence is a start, but Paul taught something even better. To the new believers in Colosse, he said, “Rid yourselves of . . . anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips” (Colossians 3:8). Paul urged them to exchange their old ways for a new nature in Christ. “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience,” he wrote (v. 12). The invitation is offered today to all believers: surrender our old cantankerous lives to new life in Christ. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace” (v. 15). Then, in our peace, the world will see Jesus.

February 07, 2025 DAILY DEVOTION: "Letting the Peace of Christ Rule" Colossians 3:15 New Living Translation 15 And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Colossians 3:15 states, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." This verse encapsulates the essence of Christian living. Paul emphasizes the importance of allowing Christ's peace to govern our hearts, which is essential for unity within the church and our relationships with others. In this context, we understand that peace is not merely a feeling, but a state of being that stems from our relationship with Christ. When we allow His peace to rule us, we reflect His love and grace to those around us. This unity in Christ fosters an environment of gratitude, as we recognize our shared identity in Him. As we navigate life's challenges, let us remember to focus on the peace of Christ, ensuring it guides our decisions and interactions. In times of conflict or unease, we can turn to prayer, asking God to fill us with His peace and help us to be thankful for His blessings.
The fruit of the spirit, peace, as seen in the ministry of Jesus is viewed with practical suggestions on how to maintain peace throughout life's complexities. The Prince of Peace gives us peace via the holy spirit. Isaiah 9:6 Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Despite facing continuous immense temptations and challenges, including persecution and crucifixion, Jesus maintained inner peace and faith in God's plan. He also brought peace to humanity, peace with God and each other. He is the perfect example. Mark 3:1-6 Jesus had a long nose. ESV Mark 3:21 And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” 31-35 Matthew 11:21-30 To maintain peace, Jesus prayed and focused on those that did believe. He was thankful for what he had rather than continuing to lament what did not have. He rallied in the relationship with God his Father. Matthew 26:36-46 When faced with torture and death, he prayed, and God sent an angel. 62-64 Jesus kept his eyes on his hope. John 14:26-31; 16:32-33 We have peace as a fruit of the spirit. Philippians 4:5-9 1) Remember the Lord is always with you; 2) pray; 3) focus on what you have, not what you do not have; 4) rally in your relationship with Yahweh and Christ; 5) be thankful; and 6) focus on the hope. The post Fruit of the Spirit in Christ 3: The Peace of Christ first appeared on Living Hope.

This week, Pastor Curtis wraps up the series Christmas Wish List with part five, Christmas “Peace” List. In this message, we explore how true peace is found not in our circumstances but in the person of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, who offers peace that surpasses all understanding to those who know Him, seek His will, and trust His plans.
The Peace Of Christ | The Way In A Manger - Part 4 | Encounter Church by Encounter Church
Welcome to the 3rd sermon in our series on the joy, hope, and peace that our perfect King is bringing. (3 of 3) What does it look like to wait for Christ our King? Advent is the first season of the Christian liturgical calendar. Just like the Israelites in the Old Testament were commanded to celebrate certain holidays at various times of the year to remember what God had done, the early Church began a yearly cycle of regular remembering. Each time they met together they read Scripture, explained and applied what had been read, sang songs, broke bread together, and gave of tithes and offerings ‘so that none had need.' In the 4th century they began to formally associate each season with certain parts of Scripture so that they could move through the entire story of Scripture each year. Advent became a retelling of the Old Testament focusing on the coming of the Messiah. So it is in this season that we celebrate the coming of Jesus and anticipate his return. Join us for the next few weeks as we focus on the joy, hope, and peace that our perfect King is bringing to earth.
Episode 12: Advent Day 12 - The Peace of ChristScripture: Colossians 3:15 (NIV)"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace."Hello again! Colossians 3:15 encourages us to "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts." Imagine being part of a well-coordinated team in a game like Overwatch or League of Legends. Success comes when everyone works together under a unified strategy.Similarly, we're called to let Christ's peace guide our hearts and interactions. This peace isn't passive; it actively influences how we respond to situations and people. As members of one body—the church—we're meant to live in harmony. When we allow His peace to rule, it becomes the umpire in our hearts, making the calls in our decisions and relationships.Prayer:Jesus, we invite Your peace to take control of our hearts. Help us to prioritize unity and love within our communities. Let Your peace dictate our responses and bring us together as one body. In Your name, Amen.

Texts: Micah 5:1-5; Ephesians 2:11-22; Philippians 4:6-7 Christ Came to Be Our Peace (Micah 5:1-5) Peace is defined in Scripture as “shalom,” which means wholeness or completeness. Christ's coming inaugurated a “shalom” that would bring strength to His people and culminate in His eternal reign. Christ Came to Make Peace With God and Man (Ephesians 2:11-22) Christ broke down the wall of hostility between God and man through His atoning work on the cross. Christ's atoning work brings wholeness and reconciliation to our relationships. Christ Came to Bring Peace Within our Hearts (Philippians 4:6-7) Christ provides us with the peace of God that guards our hearts and minds. Christ is our refuge of peace for all the moments of our lives.

Today we pause from our study through the book of Joshua to take a closer look at some biblical themes from the season of Advent. The peace of Christ is available to all who would seek His face and enter into a relationship with him by repentance and faith. Scripture text is Genesis 12:1-9.
