Episode Summary Missions do not begin only across an ocean; they begin wherever God has placed a believer. In this GoMission interview, retired police officer Bill Chaney tells Mark Gillmore how weekly soulwinning became a way of life and followed him into daily police work. His testimony of compassionate witness, workplace opposition, and trust under authority challenges every Christian to reject the fear of man and speak for Christ where they are. Topics Discussed Discipleship and weekly soulwinning Bringing the gospel into daily police work Showing compassion to vulnerable people Facing discipline after sharing a gospel tract Responding respectfully to authority while trusting God Support from fellow officers How God reopened a closed door for witness Key Takeaways Every workplace and daily setting can become a mission field. Consistent discipleship builds habits of faithful Christian service. Personal evangelism begins with seeing people and caring about their greatest need. Respect for authority and confidence in God are not opposites. No closed door is beyond the ability of God to reopen. Courage begins with the next faithful opportunity to speak for Christ. If a man came to your door promising to sell you an elixir that healed every illness, and yet, the whole time he was giving you his sales pitch he was coughing and hacking away, would you buy his product? Of course not. The evidence that his claims are false is right in front of you. You can see by the lack of health in his own life that his product is a sham. That situation is rather obvious to us all—and perhaps even a bit silly—but have you ever considered that this very principle is a major part of the reason that Christians are called to live holy lives? There is an inseparable relationship between the witness of the Christian and the holiness of the Christian. Our lives are meant to be living confirmations of the faith we profess to hold in our heart. Come join us this Lord's Day morning as we continue to learn from Paul's letter to Titus together.

A beach day, a grandmother apologizing for her grandchildren wandering over to play, and an unexpected conversation that suddenly became an open door for the gospel. In this encouraging and practically grounded episode, Emily Rose Massey shares how a stranger's boldness with gospel tracts sparked her own courage to speak the truth in love to a woman she had just met. What followed was a real, honest conversation about Jesus — met with some pushback, and ultimately with a genuine thank you. And on the drive home, a beautiful conversation with her sons about why being ready to talk about Jesus matters. 1 Peter 3:15 calls every believer to always be prepared to give a reason for the hope within them — with gentleness and respect. Emily unpacks what that preparation actually looks like: filling our hearts and minds with Scripture, praying specifically for evangelistic opportunities, and fearing God more than we fear the discomfort of rejection or embarrassment. Sharing the gospel, she reminds us, is not about winning an argument. It is about seeing the person in front of us as a soul who desperately needs the hope that only Jesus Christ can offer. That perspective changes everything about how we speak, how we listen, and how we love. Today's Bible Verse "...but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect..."— 1 Peter 3:15, ESV Ponder Today Boldness for the gospel begins with fearing God more than people. The hesitation most of us feel about sharing our faith is rooted in the fear of rejection, offense, or embarrassment. But 1 Peter 3:15 calls us to honor Christ as holy in our hearts first — and that reverence is what displaces the fear of people. Always being prepared means actively filling your heart with God's Word. Jesus said that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matthew 12:34). If our hearts are full of Scripture, we will have something true and life-giving to offer when the moment comes. The Holy Spirit empowers what we feel inadequate to do. We do not have to have perfectly polished words or airtight theological arguments. The Spirit supplies grace and wisdom in the moments we feel clumsy, intimidated, or unsure. A Prayer for You Today Heavenly Father, help me to have eyes to see the opportunities around me to share the hope within me. Even when people are eager to reject Your message, let that not be a roadblock to what You have called me to do as Your disciple. I rest in Your grace to empower me when I feel intimidated or embarrassed. Help me to fear and honor You more than people. Give me a hunger for Your Word so that I am always prepared to tell others about You and Your ways. Thank You for saving me and calling me to share Your great redeeming love with others. In Jesus' name, Amen. Don't Miss an Episode If today's prayer stirred a fresh boldness in your heart to share the hope you carry, we'd love to stay connected. Our personal suffering can increase our personal testimony for Christ. Our hard times can elevate our witness. Our difficulties can give us a larger and more receptive audience to whom we can influence for Christ.Main Points:1. Suffering, as a tool for advancing the gospel? No, I think I'll pass. Yet, over and over again in Scripture, we see God redeeming suffering for His kingdom purposes.2. Paul's freedom and mobility were restricted; it was not a situation he would have chosen for himself. Yet, as he writes to the Philippians, Paul recognizes that his house arrest has actually advanced the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was allowed to have visitors to whom Paul boldly taught about Jesus.3. These examples reveal God's kingdom purposes being accomplished through suffering. While none of us want to go through hard times, we ask that God would use them for His glory. We ask that He would make our witness clear and bold for Christ. We ask that others would see our love for Jesus and that our suffering would present opportunities for people to hear the gospel message.   Today's Scripture Verses:Philippians 1:12 - “Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel.”Acts 28:30-31 - “For two whole years Paul stayed there in his own rented house and welcomed all who came to see him. He proclaimed the kingdom of God and taught about the Lord Jesus Christ—with all boldness and without hindrance!”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

Sometimes the Spirit's work doesn't come in the spectacular, but in the interruptions we'd rather ignore. In Acts 3, Peter and John are on their way to pray when they stop for a lame man at the temple gate. What follows is both a miraculous healing and a bold witness to Jesus. Kara Moses helps us see that the Spirit still prompts ordinary people today—nudging us to pay attention, to say yes, and to trust God with the outcome. This week's message invites us to loosen our grip on our plans and practice Spirit-led availability, because you never know what God might do through a simple act of obedience.

Today, in our passage here in Luke 12:8-10, we have one ofthe most interesting and discussed topics in the Gospels and that is the questionof what does it mean to “blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.”  Luke 12 begins with Jesus warning the disciples to “bewareof the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy”. Over the next several versesJesus instructs both the disciples and the crowd on how to avoid becoming ahypocrite like the Pharisees of His day. Of course this is very much for usbelievers today. There are some very practical things we can do that will keepus from compromising our faith and going along with the crowd. Sometimes itmight be the crowd in the world with their ungodly ways, or most likely itcould be the crowd in our religious circles with their emphasis on the externalrituals, ceremonies, legalism, and made-up rules and preferences.  First, Jesus tells us to remember that everything we say ordo in secret, or behind closed doors, will one day be exposed to everyone to seeand hear (vv. 2-3). Secondly, Jesus tells us not to fear men, or anyone, and whatthey might say or do against us, but to fear God (vv. 4-5). Third, Jesusreminds us that despite our circumstances during difficult and tragic times, Godstills loves and cares for us and notices the smallest detail of our lives andall the needs of our lives (vv. 6-7). Now in our verses today (vv. 8-12), which begin with, “Also,I say unto you”, Jesus gives us another way to avoid hypocrisy is to be courageousenough to publicly profess and confess Christ openly (vv. 8-9)! And we shouldalso recognize and depend on the ministry of the Holy Spirit (vv.10-12).  We need to remember that one day we will have to standbefore God at the Judgement Seat of Christ and give an account of our deeds. (Notour sins, because they are taken care of at the cross.) If we obediently and courageouslyprofess Christ openly now to the lost world around us, on that day Christ willconfess that we have been “good and faithful servants” before both the Fatherand the angels in heaven. But if we deny Him now, fail to live and stand up forHim, Jesus says we will be ashamed before the angels in heaven on that day. What a great motivation to avoid being a hypocrite!!!!! Now what about the statement concerning the “blasphemy ofthe Holy Spirit'? We need to recognize that this statement is connected withthe ministry of the Spirit in and through the Apostles (Luke 12:11-12). TheJewish nation rejected God the Father when they refused to obey John theBaptist and repent, for John was sent by the Father. They rejected God the Sonwhen they asked Pilate to crucify Him. But that sin could be forgiven becausethere was still the ministry of the Spirit. God did not judge the nation immediately. Instead, Jesusprayed for them as He hanged on the cross (Luke 23:34; see also Acts 3:17).Then God sent the Holy Spirit who ministered through the Apostles and otherbelievers in the church. This was the last opportunity for the nation, and theyfailed by rejecting the witness of the Spirit (Acts 7:51). Luke 12:11-12 wasfulfilled during the first chapters of Acts when the message went "to theJew first" (Acts 3:26; 13:46; Rom. 1:16). Israel's third "nationalsin" was the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7), after which the message went outto the Samaritans (Acts 8), and then the Gentiles (Acts 10). Note that Stephensaid, "You always resist the Holy Spirit" (Acts 7:51). I do not believe that the "sin against the HolySpirit" is committed by people today as it was by Israel centuries ago. InJohn 16:8-9, Jesus told His disciples “that when the Holy Spirit has come, Hewill convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me. I believe that the only "unpardonable sin" todayis the final rejection of Jesus Christ (John 3:36). Make sure you have trusted Jesustoday! Tomorrow might be too late. God bless!

Living in obedience to God's Law and sharing His message of mankind's sin and salvation can be seen as offensive or even threatening to the world around us. So, why not just stay silent if it would make life easier? Why not keep our faith private? The answer is profound: because we are going to live forever. With hearts full of gratitude for Christ's sacrifice and the gift of eternal life, we share the gospel with others, hoping they too will come to believe and be saved. Our confidence in heaven's perfection frees us from fear of rejection, hardship, or even death as we bear witness to Christ.Join us in exploring the courage of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in Daniel 3:16-28. Despite facing an evil command from a pagan king, they stood firm, living as fearless witnesses for God. Welcome back to "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." Today's theme is critical to the heart of our faith—witnessing and evangelism. As followers of Christ, we're not just called to live our lives according to His teachings; we're also tasked with sharing the Good News with the world. Our springboard for today's discussion is: Matthew 28:19-20: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."The Great Commission, as these verses are often called, isn't just a call to action; it's a directive that shapes the very essence of our mission as Christians. This isn't about converting people against their will or pushing beliefs aggressively. It's about sharing love, offering hope, and building relationships that lead others to Christ through genuine connections and living testimony.Focus Points to Work/Study On:* Build Genuine Relationships:* Start with love. The first step in effective witnessing isn't about preaching or teaching; it's about building genuine relationships. Show interest in the lives of those you meet, listen to their stories, and connect on a human level. This establishes trust and opens doors for deeper conversations about faith.* Live Authentically:* Your life as a witness is often more powerful than your words. Strive to live in a way that reflects the teachings of Christ: show kindness, extend grace, practice forgiveness, and uphold integrity. Let your life be a living example of the transformative power of faith.* Know Your Message:* Be prepared to share your faith story. How has following Christ changed your life? Be ready to answer questions about your faith clearly and thoughtfully, respecting the perspectives of others, and always pointing back to the love and grace of God.Conclusion: Witnessing and evangelism are not about tallying conversions but about faithfully planting seeds of faith in as many hearts as possible. It's a divine privilege to share the love of Christ, knowing that He works through us to reach others.Call to Action: This week, challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone. Initiate a conversation about faith with someone you trust, or offer to pray for a friend going through a tough time. Remember, small steps can lead to significant opportunities.Question of the Day: Who in your life could benefit from hearing your testimony? What's holding you back from sharing it?Let's Pray: Father, empower us with courage and wisdom to be effective witnesses for Your kingdom. Help us to build relationships based on Your love and to speak Your truth with compassion and clarity. Guide our steps as we carry Your light into the world, and let our actions reflect Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.Thank you for tuning in to "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." Keep seeking opportunities to share God's love, and let's make an impact, one conversation at a time. God leaves you here after salvation to be a witness for Christ. “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things” (Rom 10:15). Your job is to witness through your life and what you say. The greatest power you have is the gospel. Present it and then let the Holy Spirit do the convincing and the convicting. Do you pray for the opportunity to witness? “My heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation” (Rom 10:1). You have their ticket to heaven. Will you be a witness for Christ, or will you allow Satan to scare you away from doing your job? “I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of salvation to everyone who believes” (Rom 1:16).
