Peygamber Efendimiz (s.a.v.)'in şöyle buyurduğu rivayet edilmiştir: "Sizden birisi Cuma günü oruç tutmasın ancak bir gün öncesi veya bir gün sonrası ile tutsun." (Ebî Dâvud: 2422) Aynı şekilde Cumartesi günü oruç tutmak da Ebu Yusuf'a göre mekruhtur. Bir hadiste şöyle Peygamber Efendimiz (s.a.v.) şöyle buyurmuştur: "Cumartesi günü farz olanlar dışında hiçbir orucu tutmayın." (Ebu Dâvud: 2423) Nevruz ve Mehrecan günlerinde de oruç tutmak caiz değildir.Zira bu durumda biz, tazim edilmesi yasak olan günlere tazim etmiş oluruz. Bu hüküm Nevruz kutlamanın da dinen caiz olmadığını göstermektedir. Oruç tutmanın yasak olduğu bu günler kendisinin âdeti olan günlere tevafuk etmişse oruç tutmasında bir beis olmaz. Hiç konuşmama şeklinde oruç tutmakta caiz değildir. Savm-i visal denilen iftar ve sahur yapmaksızın art arda oruç tutmak da caiz değildir. En faziletli olan Davud (a.s.)'ın yaptığı gibi bir gün tutup bir gün tutmamaktır. Ücret karşılığı birisinin yanında çalışan kişinin nafile oruç tutması durumunda işini gereği gibi yapamaması halinde işverenin izni olmaksızın oruç tutması caiz olmaz. Umulur ki böylece günah ve fenalıklardan korunursunuz.” (Bakara s. 183) Ebû Hureyre'nin (r.a.) şöyle dediği rivayet edilmiştir: “Resûlullâh (s.a.v.) şöyle buyurdu: "Kim, îmân ederek ve karşılığını Allâh'tan bekleyerek Ramazan orucunu tutarsa geçmiş günahları bağışlanır.” (Buhârî) Yine Ebû Hureyre'nin (r.a.) şöyle dediği rivayet edilmiştir: “Resûlullâh (s.a.v.) şöyle buyurdu: "Muhammed'in nefsinin, yedinde olduğu Zât'a yemin ederim ki; muhakkak oruçlu kimsenin ağız kokusu Allâh'ın nezdinde misk kokusundan daha hoştur.” (Buhârî) Hz. Enes'in (r.a.) şöyle dediği rivayet edilmiştir: “Resûlullâh (s.a.v.) şöyle buyurdu: "Oruç tutan kimselerin ağızlarından misk kokusu yayılmaktadır ve kıyamet günü kendileri için arşın altına muazzam bir sofra kurulur da insanlar şiddet içinde bulunurlarken onlar, oradan yerler.” (Ed-Dürrü'l-Mensûr) Başka bir rivayette de şöyle denilmektedir: “Oruç tutanlar için muazzam bir sofra kurulur, insanlar hesapta iken onlar yemekte bulunur, insanlar derler ki: “Ey Rabbimiz! Bizler hesaba çekiliyoruz, onlar ise yemekle meşguller.” Bunun üzerine Râb Teâlâ şöyle buyurur: “Onlar daima oruç tutarlarken sizler daima yemek yiyordunuz, onlar daima geceleri ibadetle ayakta iken sizler daima uyuyordunuz.” (Buhârî) (Eşref Ali et-Tehânevî, Hanefi İlmihali, s.327-328)

Coburn School of Law at Oral Roberts University (ORU), and at Oak Brook College of Law and Government Policy.  He was in the US Air Force as a lieutenant colonel and is an Alabama State Defense Force colonel, headquarters judge advocate, deputy chaplain and training officer. He earned his J.D. from the University of Iowa, M.A. from Dallas Theological Seminary, M. Div. from Lutheran Brethren Seminary and D. When Kay Redden moved to Seattle from Garland, Texas, she made it her mission to connect with her newly adopted home through music. So, in searching for meaning after mother’s death in April 2015, she launched Den Tapes, spending countless hours hand-dubbing cassettes. It wasn’t long before local bands gravitated toward her down-to-earth, community-oriented approach to music distribution. This year, she’s marking the label’s tenth birthday with a compilation titled What Else is Sacred? A Compilation of Grief, as well as a curated two-day lineup at Den Fest on August 8 and 9 at Sunset Tavern. KEXP’s Dusty Henry spoke with Redden to explore the label’s ten-year history through five standout albums. “I am anti Seattle Freeze,” Redden says in the interview. “I don't believe in it. There are too many transplants here now for it to be real. I want to make a community that actually welcomes you with open arms.” On that note, when it comes to Den Fest, she advises showgoers: “Come and be prepared to dance a little bit. If you don't like dancing, stand at the back,” she laughs. #215: Paul Mills is the head men's basketball coach at Wichita State University. Prior to his tenure at Wichita State, Mills served as the head coach at Oral Roberts University from 2017 to 2023. Under his leadership, the Golden Eagles achieved significant success, including a historic Sweet 16 appearance in the 2021 NCAA Tournament as a 15-seed, making them just the second team in history to reach that stage from such a low seed. In the 2022–23 season, Mills guided ORU to a 30–5 record, an undefeated 18–0 run through the Summit League, and a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. His coaching prowess earned him recognition as a finalist for the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year award and the NABC's Skip Prosser Man of the Year honor. Before his time at Oral Roberts, Mills spent 14 years at Baylor University, initially as a coordinator of operations from 2003 to 2009 and then as an assistant coach from 2009 to 2017. During his tenure, Baylor made seven NCAA Tournament appearances, including two Elite Eight and four Sweet 16 berths. Mills began his coaching career at the high school level, leading his teams to multiple district championships. He also served as the director of basketball operations at Rice University for one year.
