Despite its limited range of movement, the sacroiliac joint is prone to instability and is often a source of back pain in patients. On this episode of Back Talk Doc, Dr. Sanjiv Lakhia and Tanner Holden, PT from Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates discuss the SI joint itself, some common causes of SI joint pain, and what the latest science has to offer for management. Patients can experience SI joint pain during or after pregnancy, pain from the joint itself, or autoimmune pain. However, diagnosing SI joint pain is rarely straightforward because medical imaging is not typically helpful in diagnosing SI joint pain. The pain can present in unexpected places and is often best diagnosed with the help of pain provocation tests. Once diagnosed, patients can opt for regular pain-reducing injections for a quick solution. A more holistic treatment plan looks at patient goals and finds ways to improve movement over time. This may also include lifestyle modifications to remove the irritants or activities that cause the pain to flare up. Since SI joint pain sources vary from patient to patient, plans are customized to individual needs. Tanner believes that healthy movement, activity, and strength are key to living an active and pain-free life. He and Dr. Lakhia discuss how this approach puts the patient first and removes the need for unnecessary supports like braces and belts. Instead, a strength-based approach allows patients to take their care into their own hands, resulting in fewer medical visits.

Multiple transfer guards, such as ECU's Javon Small, are interested in potentially being a Buckeye. The issue is, until we get some clarity from the guys currently on the team, there may not be space. The guys spent some time discussing Jamison Battle's inter-conference transfer from Minnesota to Ohio State, and why it looks like a perfect match on the surface. Where is the floor and ceiling for the lefty gunslinger? What can Ohio State fans expect? They close with a discussion about five-star forward and former (current?) Bucketheads' is the only men's basketball-focused podcast in the LGHL family of podcasts, co-hosts Connor Lemons and Justin Golba give the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes as well as all the other happenings in the college hoops world. ‘Bucketheads' will be released every Thursday morning throughout the regular season. During episode 65, Justin and Connor return to discuss an Ohio State team that's now 3-9 in Big Ten play and all but eliminated from the NCAA Tournament with a month still to play. It took some time, but it seems that Chris Holtmann has finally hit the point where he just wants to play the guys who play the hardest, limiting the minutes of some in favor of guys like Gene Brown and Tanner Holden. While the Buckeyes aren't mathematically eliminated from the tournament, they'll have to go on quite the run to make it, plus win a few games in the B1G Tournament — or win the B1G Tournament outright. It's been quite some time since Ohio State has won consecutive games, so the odds of that are slimmer than slim. They also discuss Holtmann's ejection from the Wisconsin game, and who stepped up big-time for the Wolverines on the perimeter last weekend to give Hunter Dickinson the space to do what he did. Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Ohio State (9-3, 1-0) played down to the level of their competition Thursday night in the first half, briefly trailing Alabama A&M (4-9) for just over 60 seconds. But a Buckeye avalanche ensued in the second half, and they won the game by 31 points in dominant fashion. After the game. Bruce Thornton and Tanner Holden spoke with a few media members — the few who aren't in Atlanta — about the win. Thornton admitted he really has “No idea” what the Big Ten will be like with 19 games coming up over the next two-plus months. Holden also spoke on that, as well as his team's struggles getting back in transition at times. Holtmann followed and also was critical of his team's transition defense, saying it “Just isn't where it needs to be now.” But he was proud of the way both Isaac Likekele and Gene Brown played after being out for extended periods of time. An Expert Look at Where the Buckeyes Fell Short Against Michigan and How Ohio State Stacks Up with Georgia

At the exact halfway point between Ohio State's regular-season finale against Michigan and the Buckeyes' College Football Playoff game against Georgia, we thought today would be the perfect time to have Kyle Jones on Real Pod Wednesdays to break down what happened against the Wolverines and what could happen against the Bulldogs.Eleven Warriors' scheme expert joins us right from the jump of this week's episode to dive into more than 30 minutes of X's and O's chatter, and we don't beat around the bush, starting right off the bat with a conversation about what didn't work in the loss to Michigan and why Ohio State used the game plan it did against the Wolverines. We also discuss whether Ryan Day should (and why he probably won't) give up offensive play calling and evaluate the overall progress of Ohio State's defense in Jim Knowles' first year before looking ahead to the impending matchup with Georgia and assessing the Buckeyes' chances of beating the Bulldogs. In the second half of the show, Dan and Griffin discuss all of the other headlines surrounding Ohio State football this week including the hiring of Keenan Bailey as tight ends coach, why Gene Smith felt compelled to make a statement calling for “additional support” of NIL collectives and what questions remain for Ohio State's 2023 recruiting class with one week to go until the early signing period. The rundown of topics discussed on this week's show: 0:55: Most of Ohio State's game plan against Michigan was actually sound despite the results 6:58: Ohio State's offense played not to lose, which it can't do in big games 10:00: It doesn't look like Ryan Day will give up play calling, but there's a case that he should 15:27: Jim Knowles' defensive turnaround was always going to be a multi-year process 17:45: Ohio State ran a different defensive scheme against Michigan rather than being who it's been all year 19:12: Georgia is a great team, but its film isn't as impressive as many of Ohio State's previous CFP opponents 22:24: Ohio State's receivers should have opportunities to make plays against Georgia, but they have to take advantage 25:25: Georgia's offense isn't necessarily spectacular in any area, but it's extremely well-coached 28:33: Ohio State must make Georgia throw deep and must know where Jalen Carter is at all times 31:59: The Buckeyes are capable of beating Georgia, but they can't play the way they did down the stretch 33:50: Keenan Bailey's promotion is well-deserved 35:47: Ohio State won't name a new offensive coordinator until after the season, but an internal promotion appears likely 38:15: Most of Tuesday's Ryan Day press conference wasn't about Georgia, which speaks to how crazy December is 42:58: Ryan Day says NIL has become “the conversation” among recruits, and it's telling that Gene Smith felt the need to make a statement 47:20: Fans deserve more answers about where the NIL collective money is going, and they don't deserve guilt trips if they don't donate 53:47: Ohio State's 2023 recruiting class could use another jolt of star power 57:25: Marvin Harrison Jr. should have won the Biletnikoff Award, but being a unanimous All-American ain't bad 58:56: C.J. Stroud, Justin Fields and Dwayne Haskins are three of Ohio State's best quarterbacks ever, but none will have a tree in Buckeye Grove 1:00:03: Ohio State's win over Rutgers was still a good win even if Tanner Holden's three shouldn't have counted 1:02:22: The Buckeyes might actually be favored to beat North Carolina on Saturday

Throughout the season, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Well, if you missed Tanner Holden's last-second buzzer-beating three-pointer at the Schottenstein Center Thursday night, I apologize. After 39 minutes and 55 seconds of agonizing, back-and-forth battling between two physical Big Ten teams, it was one shot that mattered, and that shot was a blind heave from Holden that won the Buckeyes the game, 67-66. After the game, the man of the hour spoke with the media, as well as Zed Key who set a career-high with 22 points, and head coach Chris Holtmann. The Buckeyes blew an 11-point first-half lead and trailed with five seconds remaining as well, but were able to pull it out right at the horn. Holden spoke first, letting everyone know that he actually couldn't see the basket when he shot the ball, nor could he see if it went in — he knew when the crowd let him know. Key said it was even crazier than his game-winner against Akron last season. Holtmann spent as much time talking about point guard Bruce Thornton as he did Holden afterward, praising some of the plays Thornton made during the “guts” of the game. He also said Holden was subbed into the game with five seconds left because they were anticipating him needing to inbound the ball full court. If you missed Saturday's game between the No. 25 Ohio State Buckeyes and the St. Francis Red Flash, that's okay, we don't blame you. Not even 72 hours after the Duke game and amidst all kind of college football hysteria, even I nearly forgot the Buckeyes had a noon tipoff against one of the statistically worst teams in the nation. The Buckeyes didn't light the world on fire during the first half, carrying just an eight-point lead into halftime. But they outscored St. Francis 52-23 in the second half en route to a 96-59 win Saturday afternoon in Columbus. Felix Okpara, who set career highs in points, rebounds, and steals, as well as scoring his first career double-double, spoke with the media about knocking down his first career three-pointer as well as what he thinks he brings to the team coming off the bench behind Zed Key. Tanner Holden discussed the team's defensive ceiling, as well as his adjustment from the Horizon League to the Big Ten. Holtmann discussed the stark turnaround between halves, crediting the change to better effort on the defensive end. He also spoke about Okpara's big day, and how important it will be for Brice Sensabaugh to not let struggles on the offensive end carry over to the defensive end and vice versa. Following Ohio State's 91-53 victory over Robert Morris Monday night, Chris Holtmann, Justice Sueing, and Zed Key spoke to the media about the win and what to expect moving forward. Sueing and Key started, and mainly kept to the theme of “any guy on any given night.” Key said that Ohio State has several guys who can “drop 20 any night”, giving the example of Tanner Holden scoring 25 in OSU's exhibition, followed by Sueing's 20 on Monday night. Sueing said that playing for the first time in nearly one full calendar year was emotional for him, but once he missed two free throws early on, the nerves pretty much rolled off. Holtmann followed and spent a good chunk of time talking about Sueing and the difference he makes on both ends of the floor. He referred to him as “one of the better rebounding wings in college basketball” and also said that “A lot of people probably forgot how good a player Justice is” after missing so much time. Holtmann also said that, despite the Buckeyes grabbing 48 rebounds for the first time since November of 2017 (the last time they played Robert Morris), his team still is not where they need to be rebounding the basketball. After that, head coach Chris Holtmann spoke to the media for about 20 minutes, and was especially critical of his team's rebounding effort (Ohio State only out-rebounded Chaminade by eight, despite winning by 44). You often ask us who's standing out and making a move up the depth chart at spring practice, and now, we feel equipped to actually answer those questions.Saturday's Student Appreciation Day gave us our first opportunity of the spring to watch the Buckeyes practice actual football – as in, we got to watch team drills, 7-on-7 drills and head-to-head competition rather than just warmups and individual drills – and as a result, we got our first real glimpse of who's where on the depth chart and who's making plays in competitive action. We spend the first half of this week's episode of Real Pod Wednesdays talking all about what we took away from Saturday's viewing opportunity, including which players and position groups stood out most and which units look like they still have a lot of work to do between now and September. In the second half of this week's episode (beginning at 30:28), we talk about the impact of a busy week in the transfer portal for multiple Buckeye teams, starting with the football team, who lost defensive backs Lejond Cavazos and Bryson Shaw to the portal on Monday. While those moves are a hit to Ohio State's secondary depth, we discuss why neither of them came as a big surprise and why heading elsewhere at this point in their careers is probably in both of their best interests. After answering some listener football questions, we shift the conversation to basketball (beginning at 48:47) and talk about the likely departure of Malaki Branham from the Ohio State men's basketball team and how the incoming transfer of former Wright State guard Tanner Holden could help fill some of that void. We also discuss who else the Buckeyes could add from the portal – and whether the next priority should be a power forward or a point guard – after Justin Ahrens' entry into the portal. To wrap things up, we also share our thoughts on Chris Holtmann's hiring of Jack Owens and expected promotion of Mike Netti and on what we expect from Thad Matta's return to the sideline at Butler.
