Inside Strategic Coach: Connecting Entrepreneurs With What Really Matters
How do you stand firm in a world that seems to be in flux? It's easier than you might think. In this episode, business coaches Dan Sullivan and Shannon Waller explain the three rules for staying cool and calm so you can achieve business success and business growth no matter what's happening in the world. Here's some of what you'll learn in this episode:Why entrepreneurs don't need to ask permission to create. The importance of company ground rules. Why it's helpful for entrepreneurs to recognize that life isn't fair. Why some people need to be controlled by other people's lawsThe real definition of creativity. The five “credibility rules.”Show Notes:If you want somebody to be in charge, you have to be the one in charge. If we aren't enforcing the rules, the rules don't matter. All the knowledge that we have was made up by someone. After you make something up, you have to communicate it in such a way that other people will find it useful.Entrepreneurs are the masters of making up new things.Political leaders aren't in charge; they're fulfilling a role according to a set of rules.Your new ideas will advantage some people and disadvantage others. There used to be so much scarcity in the world that you couldn't think about things like fairness and equality.Freedom is maximizing being inside of restrictions.Nothing you come up with has any value until somebody is willing to write you a check for it.Economic breakdown usually comes from government mismanagement.Rules allow you to have your attention on the main thing rather than on the small things.Resources:“Geometry” For Staying Cool & Calm by Dan SullivanThe Impact Filter™

Last week, Pastor Julie covered John Wesley's first simple rule which is "Do No Harm." This week we pivot to focusing on how we intentionally seek to "Do Good." We find that, when we focus our attention and choices on intentionally doing good to others that we are able to look past "random acts of kindness" and "paying it forward" to attune our hearts and lives God would have us do to increase the greater good of all. Join us next week as we cover the third of the Three Simple Rules which is Stay in Love With God.For more information about Asbury United Methodist Church in downtown Smyrna, Delaware please visit the Facebook page or website at www.asburysmyrnaumc.org.

Asbury United Methodist Church is kicking off 2023 with a dive into the Three Simple Rules followed and passed down by the founder of Methodism, John Wesley. These three simple rules are practices for living in this world as followers of Christ and we will be exploring how those rules are relevant in our practice today. The first simple rule - Do No Harm - is something that centers on what we refrain from doing as faithful people rather than on what we do. This is the ground rule because when we focus on avoiding doing harm to others we come to see and fully understand how interconnected we are with everyone around us and the dramatic impact that our actions (and inactions!) can have on those around us. Join us each week as we continue this journey and start off the new year right. For more information about Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna, Delaware please find our Facebook page or website at www.asburysmyrnaumc.org.
Sometimes life gets complicated and it's difficult to know what to do next. That's why the founder of Methodist movement, John Wesley, came up with three simple rules for Christian living: (1) Do no harm, (2) Do good, and (3) Stay in love with God. This is the first message in a three-week series focusing on the first rule: Do no harm. What exactly does this look like in real life, and how can we avoid overcomplicating it?

Thank you for joining Grand Lake UMC online today, we hope that this service will be a blessing to you and your family and pray that one day you may be able to join us in person. If you have any questions about this service or anything else we offer at Grand Lake UMC please contact the church office by email or phone. Thank you and enjoy God's word this morning! Read Jonah 3: 1-5 1. Why do you think the word “counterfeit” was used in the last two sermon titles regarding Jonah's repentance and obedience? In what ways were they counterfeit? In what ways might these things have been counterfeit in your life sometimes? 2. Read 2 Peter 3: 9 and Jeremiah 18: 7-8. How do these passages relate to Nineveh in the Jonah story? What do they mean for us today? 3. In the video and study guide this week, Mason describes Jonah's going to Nineveh as “begrudging obedience” and “heartless obedience.” What does he mean by that? What is missing in “heartless” obedience? 4. Why is “heartless obedience” so dangerous? What did Jesus have to say about this kind of obedience? (Hint: see Mark 3:1-6) 5. What are Wesley's Three Simple Rules? (See below) How can they prevent us from being counterfeit? 6. Pastor Mick shared this quote from another pastor: “We are not called to be keepers of the aquarium – Jesus calls us to be ‘fishers of people,' to catch folk up in God's grace, love and salvation.” How does this relate to the Jonah story? To our lives in the church today? 7. Pastor Mick listed four basic concepts all good fishermen know. Do you remember what they are? (See below) How do these also apply to being “fishers of people”? 8. Toward the end of the sermon, Pastor Mick talked a lot about authenticity. What was he talking about? Why is this important? What are some possible consequences of being inauthentic? Prayer of Confession (from UMC Communion Liturgy): Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. #5 Do no harm; Do good; Stay in love with God #7 Four Basic Fishing Concepts – Patience, Time, Place, Bait

In 1739, about ten people in London, England went to John Wesley. They wanted John to counsel them. They needed guidance and help figuring out how to find redemption from their sin. John began to meet with this group every week on Thursday evening. The numbers grew every single week as more and more people began to seek counsel from one another. This group eventually led to the United Society. He provided rules that people should follow that were called the General Rules or what it is also known as, his “Three Simple Rules.” Do No Harm. Do Good. And Stay in Love With God. Be sure to subscribe, rate, and review!
