Saturday the 12th of April 1958, two men – 60-year-old Isaiah Dixon and 32-year-old Matthew Kavanagh – returned to their boarding house at 11 Hillmorton Road in Rugby. Kavanagh strangled Dixon with his own tie, stole 34 10s from his pockets, went shopping, and confessed to his murder. But then in court, he denied murder, and used an alibi which had got many 1950s killers off a murder charge.Location: Ground floor bedsit, 11 Hillmorton Road, Rugby, Warwickshire, Date: Saturday the 12th of April 1958, evening, Victims: Isaiah Dixon (and Evelyn Ullah)Culprit: Matthew KavanaghSeven time nominated at the True Crime Awards, Independent Podcast Awards and the British Podcast Awards, Murder Mile is one of the best UK / British true crime podcasts covering only 20 square miles of West London. Between 1962 and 1964, thirteen women in the Boston area were murdered in a case that terrified a city and became known around the world as the Boston Strangler murders. For decades, the public was told Albert DeSalvo was the killer. He confessed, the headlines moved on, and Boston tried to put the nightmare behind it. But DeSalvo was never convicted of the Strangler murders. His confession had problems, several suspects remained in the background, and even after DNA tied him to one victim in 2013, questions remain about whether one man killed all thirteen women. In this episode we look at the victims, the investigation, the suspects, the confession, and the evidence that still leaves this case sitting somewhere between closure and mystery.#BostonStrangler #AlbertDeSalvo #AnnaSlesers #MaryMullen #NinaNichols #HelenBlake #IdaIrga #JaneSullivan #SophieClark #PatriciaBissette #MaryAnnBrown #BeverlySamans #EvelynCorbin #JoannGraff #MarySullivan #GeorgeNassar #TrueCrime #ColdCase #CriminalBehavior #ProfilingEvil #GIS #Esri #ArcGIS========================================20% OFF Newspapers.comhttps://www.newspapers.com/go/podcast/?ref=profilingevil?xid=8877&utm_source=ProfilingEvilPodcast&utm_medium=podcst&utm_campaign=ProfilingEvil26========================================Discounts on eBikes: https://aipasbike.com/?ref=PROFILINGEVILReferral Coupon Code: PROFILINGEVIL========================================Email your questions to: ProfilingEvil@gmail.com========================================

In 2002, A local newspaper in St. Louis, Missouri received a letter and a map from a serial killer that had been terrorizing the streets of East St. Louis and its surrounding area. He not only thanked a specific reporter for covering the cases, but he pointed him to the location of his next story: a new victim. JOIN US as we discussed both the Mr. Jekyll and the Mr. Hyde sides of the Street Walker Strangler, named Maury Travis. RIP to the victims
You thought your Wednesday morning commute was rough — try sharing St. Louis County soil with a regenerating, toxin-releasing, hammerhead shark-headed worm straight out of a horror movie. Marc Cox and Kim St. Onge have the full stomach-turning story, plus the one rule you absolutely cannot break when you find one in your yard. Then the good news — St. Louis County has a new police chief, Juan Cox (no relation), and early signs suggest he's the real deal with a track record of actually lowering crime. And just when you thought the stories couldn't get wilder, a St. John man strangled his coworker over a promotion and told police he would have killed her if the manager hadn't walked in. It's the St. Louis Morning Brief on the Marc Cox Morning Show — your one-stop briefing for everything happening in your backyard, and apparently, under it too. The same would prove true in the case of a modern-day murderer thought to have been responsible for the deaths of at least seven female victims in rural Japan. Steve Wright was already one of Britain's most notorious killers. Known as the Suffolk Strangler, he was given a whole life sentence in 2008 for murdering five women in Ipswich. The case shocked the nation and left lasting scars on a community that had felt safe. But the story did not end there. In 2026, Wright admitted to the murder of seventeen year old Victoria Hall, a crime that had remained unsolved for nearly three decades. Her family had waited years for answers. This episode of Blood Ties revisits the case. Six victims. One killer. And a truth that proves some stories are far darker than we first believe and asks whether justice can ever truly arrive when the past keeps returning again.CREDITS: Presenters: Geoffrey and Molly WansellProducer: Peter Shevlin https://pod60.com/Artwork: George LeighMusic: Dan WansellCONTACT: Twitter: @BloodTies_PodInstagram:@bloodtiespodcastEmail: bloodties.podcast@gmail.com YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@bloodtiespodcastSupport: patreon.com/bloodtiespodcastPlease complete our survey if you have time: http://bit.ly/bloodtiespodcast-survey Hosted on Acast. But the night before he killed Vicky, he stalked another young woman through the streets of Felixstowe for almost an hour. She escaped. She reported it. The police dismissed her and told her to forget about it. The following night, Wright went back out. In 1970, 85-year-old Nellie Farmer lived quietly in a modest retirement hotel. A retired schoolteacher, she had spent her life helping others and asking for very little in return. One night, that safety was shattered. An intruder broke into her room while she slept. Nellie Farmer had been brutally raped and strangled with a scarf. Her body was discovered face down on the bed, partially covered by blankets, as if someone had tried to hide what they had done. At first, it looked like a single, terrible crime. But it wasn't. Police quickly arrested a man who admitted he had been in Nellie Farmer's room the night she died, but he insisted someone else was responsible. His story pointed the finger at a mysterious accomplice known only by a nickname. That testimony would send a man to prison, but was he the right man? As the years passed, the case began to unravel because Nellie Farmer's murder was not the end of the story. It was only the beginning. In the fall of 2009, police in Cleveland entered a house expecting to arrest a man accused of sexual assault. Instead, they stepped into one of the most shocking crime scenes in the city's history. Hidden inside the home, and buried in the yard, were the remains of eleven women. They were the victims of a killer who had blended into the neighborhood for years. In December 2006, the town of Ipswich was rocked by a spree of brutal murders targeting sex workers in its notorious red light area. But the story didn't end with the capture of the so-called ‘Suffolk Strangler', Steve Wright… The murders of Tania Nicol, Gemma Adams, Anneli Alderton, Annette Nicholls and Paula Clennell would go on to transform policing strategies for prostitution in the UK (and even inspired a tone-deaf musical). And with killer Steve Wright back in the news in February 2026 after pleading guilty to the murder of schoolgirl Victoria Hall in 1999, this decades-old case still hasn't run out of surprises.--Patreon - Ad-free & Bonus EpisodesYouTube - Full-length Video EpisodesTikTok / InstagramSources and more available on redhandedpodcast.com

How Suffolk Constabulary secured justice decades later — and what this case reveals about sex worker safety, family liaison, evidence-led policing, and whistleblowers. In this episode of Crime Time Inc., Simon and Tom examine Steve Wright — widely known as the “Suffolk Strangler” (also referred to as the “Ipswich Ripper”) — and the cold case breakthrough that linked him to the 1999 abduction and murder of 17-year-old Victoria Hall.We unpack what made Suffolk Constabulary's investigation stand out, how advances in forensic science can reopen “closed” history, and why long-term family liaison support can matter for decades, not days.Simon and Tom also explore the realities of policing vulnerable communities, the risks faced by sex workers working on the street, and how systems and legislation can unintentionally increase danger rather than reduce it.The conversation broadens into “policing politics” — when forces get pulled into high-stakes public controversies — and finishes on a practical, real-world discussion of whistleblowers: how to separate genuine warnings from grievance, and why leadership must follow the evidence either way.Listener note: This episode discusses murder and violence against women.Chapters / Timestamps00:00 Crime Time Inc. intro00:44 A pause from Zodiac: back to the Suffolk Strangler case02:42 Suffolk Constabulary's investigation & long-term family liaison05:18 Broadchurch and what not to do as a family liaison officer07:22 Steve Wright, victims' families, and the 1999 case08:39 Pattern, geography, and “spree” timelines10:32 Could there be other victims? Today on my 1000 Hours podcast covering the pioneer era of pro wrestling we enter a new era. Evan Lewis is now The Strangler. Crowds find him barbaric and national opinion has swung from pro wrestling being a con game to it being a brutal sport. Concurrent with the rise of Strangler Lewis is the fall of William Muldoon. Near the same time, Muldoon, nursing a nagging hand and arm injury announces his first of many retirements and the original 1870 Detroit International champion Col. James H. Victim impact statements fill the room as the judge follows the jury's recommendation and sentences him to death, with an execution date originally set for September 13, 2018. Episode 386: In the last episode, we explored the origins of Herbert Baumeister and the early days at Fox Hollow, tracing the stories of early disappearances of gay men around Indiana. The disappearances beginning in the late 1980s and into the 1990s signalled the start of a wave of heartbreak that swept through Indianapolis's gay community, leaving families and friends desperate for answers. In this episode, we turn our focus to the other lives forever altered by Herb Baumeister's crimes. We'll share what's known about the final days of Baumeister's other victims. Among them were Jeffrey Allan Jones, Roger Alan Goodlet, Michael Frederick Keirn, Steven Spurlin Hale, Richard Douglas Hamilton Jr., Johnny Bayer, Allen Wayne Broussard, and Daniel Thomas Halloran. As their stories unfold, we'll follow the determined police investigation, the pressure that began to close in on Baumeister, and his frantic flight from justice. In a case that captured national attention in 1929, a beautiful young schoolteacher went missing one Friday afternoon. Her husband was ill and in bed all day, at least according to him. This week we cover the scandal that spurred legend, lore, and facination for the past century in York County.
Episode 385: The killings at Fox Hollow Farm are one of Indiana's darkest chapters. In the early 1990s, Herb Baumeister, a husband, father, and thrift store owner, lived a double life in the upscale suburb of Westfield. Behind the facade of Fox Hollow Farm, he is believed to have lured young men, mostly from local gay bars, to his home, where police later uncovered the remains of at least 25 victims scattered across the estate. Hundreds of burned and crushed bones were found by investigators, revealing years of concealed brutality. As the net closed in, Baumeister fled to Canada and took his own life at Pinery Provincial Park, leaving unanswered questions and devastated families in his wake. Sources: Who Was Herb Baumeister? What lay hidden beneath the surface was far darker than anyone could have imagined. His modus operandi is shocking: years before he strangled his victims, Henry Louis Wallace befriended them. By and large, they were his coworkers at Bojangles and Taco Bell.
