Howdy folks of the interwebs! Your host Double J is back with another edition of OpGCD Live! show. Today, Double J is joined by the Occult Rejects, Nick & Theresa, to discuss Mounds, Muder, & an Ancient Alien Cargo Cult - that was financed by actor Wesley Snipes! In today's shenanigan infused journey, your host Double J & guests Nick & Theresa discuss the murders of an elderly couple, Russell & Shirley Dermond, in Lake Oconee, GA in May 2014...and the possible connections to the Ancient Alien Cargo Cult, the Nuwaubian Nation - via the membership of the cult, the Nuwaubians. It appears that a Nuwaubian murdered the elderly murder victims' adult son, Mark Dermond, 14 years prior to their murder in 2000. Your host, Double J & guest Nick & Theresa also share their thoughts on the potential occult connections to the murders & the Ancient Alien Cargo Cult, the Nuwaubians, primarily via Freemasonry...both official & "unofficial"! Lastly, the murders of the elderly couple, Russell & Shirley Dermond, just happened to occur on a "Mound" site. So, your host Double J shares his thoughts on how the murder of the Dermonds has the appearance of a ritual human sacrifice on a Mound site. It seems that modern day human sacrifices are occurring at the precise same location of human sacrifice in ancient America, the "Mounds"! Anyhow, folks of the interwebs...thanks for join'n me to get a lil GCD! Enjoy the conversation on Mounds, Murder, & an Ancient Alien Cargo Cult! Wes Forester, PGA Director of Golf at Reynolds Lake Oconee joined Rob Thomas on the Club + Resort Talks podcast to discuss Richland—the seventh golf course at the Greensboro, Ga. property. The new 18-hole layout was created by acclaimed course architect Tom Fazio by combining nine holes from his existing National course with nine all-new holes. This gives Reynolds Lake Oconee two Fazio designs (Richland and The National) along with courses from Jack Nicklaus (Great Waters), Rees Jones (The Oconee), Jim Engh (Creek Club), and two by Bob Cupp (The Preserve and The Landing). The new Richland turns the Bluff nine from the original, Fazio-designed National—with some recent modifications—into holes 1 through 5 and 15 through 18. The new holes, 6 through 14, traverse the peninsula of Reynolds and tumbles down to the Richland side of Lake Oconee. The resulting layout provides plenty of challenge with fescue-lined fairways, numerous bunkers, and dramatic elevation changes. Among the changes to the nine Bluff holes were removing or repositioning bunkers, adding new ones, and combining smaller bunkers to create larger ones. Some greens have been reshaped and/or moved, often bringing the lake more into play. New fescue native areas and low-mow chipping areas were also added on some holes. The new nine utilizes significant elevation change to put an emphasis on club selection and angle of attack. Players will encounter doglegs, a deep valley and big ravine, plus sloping greens and strategically placed bunkering. They'll also have the chance to refresh themselves at a new halfway house – The Turn – between holes 9 and 10. The Turn is a mobile food truck that will serve burgers, sandwiches, wraps and a full array of beverages. Also on this podcast … In the world of golf clubs, resorts, and hospitality venues, delivering unforgettable player experiences is paramount, and effective team communication plays a central role in achieving this. Elle Ferebee, Senior Account Executive at Relay, highlights how the right communication tools not only streamline team interactions but also help transform member experiences into something truly memorable. The Glen Ridge (N.J.) Country Club's planned expansion includes constructing a children's pool and removing 56 trees, raising concerns among neighboring residents. The proposed pool placement—just 13 feet from the property line—requires a variance, as local law typically mandates a 100-foot setback. The Zoning Board of Adjustment was scheduled to review these variance requests Nov. 14. Findings have yet to be announced. One local resident expressed concerns about the impact of the expansion on noise levels in the area. Two years into a significant restoration effort, Asheville, N.C.'s historic Municipal Golf Course, known affectionately as “Muni,” is facing severe setbacks after Tropical Storm Helene. The city was close to completing multimillion-dollar improvements across the course's 18 holes, including upgrades to fairways, bunkers, cart paths, and greens, along with extensive stormwater system repairs. However, after Helene swept through on Sept. 27, the Swannanoa River, which runs beside the course, overflowed to more than 26 feet, submerging the surrounding areas. The resulting floodwaters inundated Muni's front nine holes, with water and debris gushing from drainage inlets, undermining the turf and reversing much of the recent improvement work.

Years of experience in speculative and custom home building give team members the tools and knowledge to offer clients quality construction at an affordable price point. Keller said, “It is really in the last two years that we have solidified our transition as a design-build firm for residential developments, in both for-sale and for-rent arenas, single-family homes and townhome communities.” Harrison presents clients with a “one-stop-shop” approach to homebuilding. Starting with the discovery process, the firm's team connects with clients to assess their goals for the project and determine necessary services. An in-house architect and interior design team make this step feel comfortable for clients. From there, the process moves to the contract phase and then permitting, procurement and vertical construction begins. Harrison can also assist with horizontal construction for a seamless plan to completion process. Coming soon in east Roswell, vertical construction has started on East Village, a community of 74 high-end townhomes located just off Holcomb Bridge Road. These three-story townhomes feature two to four bedrooms and tons of luxury details. Prospective buyers can look forward to soaring, 10-foot ceilings, shaker-style cabinetry and quartz countertops in the kitchen, walk-in pantries and spa baths with double-sink vanities. In Brookhaven, Harrison is pleased to announce vertical construction will begin soon on Sunland Park. Limited to just five new residences, these single-family homes offer five bedrooms and four baths on 3,800 square feet. Upscale, contemporary design sets this community apart, making it a unique opportunity for Atlanta home shoppers. Sunland Park is conveniently located near the desired Ashford Park elementary school district and walkable to local Brookhaven dining, shopping and entertainment. Harrison just completed homes in the Lake Oconee area and plans to expand further with an upcoming townhome project. Keller said, “Brookhaven is where Harrison began, so we are excited to be back in our home neighborhood.” Wondering what luxury homebuyers are looking for? Harrison presents clients with competitive design elements, including walk-in pantries, natural stone exteriors and statement lighting in their homes. “It's fun to see our designers mix those stable, true classic elements and dial them up to meet the new trends,” said Keller. “But they still sustain an overall longevity and ensure they won't be outdated in two years.” Tune in to the full interview above to learn more about Harrison Homes, or visit www.HarrisonATL.com. Today, we are talking about one of everyone's favorite non-profits, the Humane Society, specifically, the Lake Oconee Humane Society! It's a new name, but the same organization that we all know and love. Diane Robinson & Jeri-Michel Duncan are joining me to talk about the name change, the current work they are doing, some things you may not know about the organization and a wonderful upcoming event that you don't want to miss, celebrating 25 years of helping animals and saving lives in the Lake Country. We'll talk about some real stories with happy endings, such as the adoption of Tanner, an older “doggie” gentleman who found his new, forever home and Freckles, a shy little fellow who came out of his shell with the help of his foster families! We'll talk about some of the challenges the organization is facing during these tough economic times of inflation and rising costs and what the community can do to help the effort. And we will talk about the upcoming Wine, Wags & Whiskers event on August 9th, which promises to be amazing, with live entertainment, wine tasting, great food and fun, all for a good cause! So many people have a heart for animals and helping them to live good lives. And some people, like these two ladies, take it to a whole new level! "We don't know where all the crime scenes were in this case and that's been a big problem."On the afternoon of 3 May 2014, 88-year-old Russell Dermond and his 87-year-old wife Shirley were expected over at a neighbor's home for a Kentucky Derby party. However, the elderly couple never showed up or called to apologize, something that was very unlike them.Hours passed. Then days. Nobody spoke with or saw the Dermonds, who were absent from their usual routines. Both were conspicuously absent not only through the weekend, but early into the next week. Finally, on Tuesday, a pair of neighbors decided to make a house call and check in on the missing pair, who hadn't been seen or heard from in nearly four days...Research, writing, hosting, and production by Micheal WhelanMusic composed and created by Micheal WhelanAdditional music includes "Unresolved Mysteries" by Ailsa Traves (podcast theme song, end credits)Learn more about this podcast at http://unresolved.meIf you would like to support this podcast, consider heading to https://www.patreon.com/unresolvedpod to become a Patron or ProducerBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/unresolved--3266604/support.
You've probably noticed how some people have the unique ability to take an idea, plan diligently through the steps, execute the plan and stay the course until completion, regardless of the obstacles along the way. My guest today is most definitely one of those people! Josh Sprayberry grew up in Griffin, GA and spent much of his youth at the lake and on the water, which he still loves to this day. Educated as an accountant, then earning his CPA, he quickly accelerated in his field, gaining experience and ultimately owning his own firm, with a wide variety of business clients in different industries. Josh then took all of this knowledge and experience and embarked on an entrepreneurial journey. One thing to admire about Josh is that he thinks big! One of his first projects was the Anchors Marina, here at Lake Oconee. This state of the art facility is located where, if you've been around a while, Jerry's Bait & Tackle was. Josh saw an opportunity, took the necessary steps, built the marina, and today, not only owns, but he and his wife Lauren are active in the day-to-day operations. Today, we're going to talk about the next project, even bigger and even more exciting! Josh and his team have been working the last several years on a boutique hotel project that will be unlike anything here at the lake, since the Ritz Carlton! This exciting project will be located in Putnam County and you are going to hear all of the details on the show today! You don't want to miss this! On the morning of May 6, 2014, Russell Dermond, an 88-year-old beloved father and husband, was found dead in the garage of his home on Lake Oconee in Georgia. He had been brutally murdered, and his head was removed. Russell's wife of 62 years, Shirley, was nowhere to be found. An intense search for her began, and on May 16, she was found in the lake. Shirley had also been murdered, and her body was weighed down with concrete blocks. Despite a thorough investigation, the police have yet to identify a motive or suspect for this heinous crime. It's been just over 10 years since Russell and Shirley were killed, and investigators are still searching for the person responsible… Russell and Shirley Dermond were killed sometime between 4:30 P.M. on May 2, 2014 and 4:00 P.M. on May 3. They were possibly killed at their home on Carolyn Drive in Reynolds Plantation, a gated community located right off Lake Oconee in Georgia. Russell was discovered in the garage, likely shot in the head and then decapitated. Shirley suffered blows to the head, possibly from a hammer. Her body was then weighed down with two 30-pound red concrete blocks, enclosed in a blue mesh bag, and submerged in the lake.
