The baseball offseason goes on and on forever. They hold non-stop meetings, Scott Boras tells dumb jokes and the reporters that cover MLB are still confused. Alex Verdugo was traded from the Red Sox to the Yankees and maybe Juan Soto will follow soon. Baseball seems to be the one sport where we talk and talk about where players might go and it takes forever. Rob Manfred has to tell Ohtani and his people that he can't be telling teams not to talk about their negotiations. Manfred needs him to be a story and it won't hurt him. Dave Roberts, the Manager of the Dodgers, mentioned meeting with Ohtani and people were furious he said something. C-Lo returns for an update and has audio from Aaron Rodgers who does not like the character assassination of Zach Wilson and all the leaks coming out of the Jets building. Gio thinks Zach is now a sympathetic figure. Brian Daboll announced Tommy DeVito will start this week against the Packers. Brian Cashman talked about Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani. The Knicks have been eliminated from the in season tournament. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Joe Benigno going on with Evan & Tiki yesterday saying even more stuff about communicating with Rob Saleh. Gio wonders if Saleh fell in love with Benigno as a friend. Reporters have to ask Saleh about it today. McAfee did not ask Rodgers about it. Boomer thinks there's a documentary coming on Aaron Rodgers' rehab. Rodgers seems to think the leak is inside the Jets building but it's likely coming from an agent. Gio couldn't believe that McAfee didn't ask Rodgers about Saleh texting with Joe Benigno. Gio said if he continues to text with Joe he will be the dumbest Head Coach we've ever had in New York. C-Lo is in for Jerry and is here for his first update and starts with audio from Rodgers calling it a ‘chicken s**t' report on Zach Wilson. He called it an assassination of Zach's character. Brian Daboll announced Tommy DeVito will start again because he earned it. The Yankees traded for Alex Verdugo of the Red Sox. We also talked about the Mets and Yamamoto and Ohtani and Gio said they better make an offer. In the final segment of the hour, Jeff Saturday seems to be taking credit for changing the Colts culture while going 1-7. He also seemed to be taking shots at Frank Reich. Eddie has returned from his 2 day absence due to illness. Gio is watching the new Squid Game on Netflix. Diana Russini had multiple sources for her story. There's also no way the Jets cutting Tim Boyle and the Zach Wilson story are not linked together. We also talked about Dom DiSandro, the Eagles head of security that got thrown out of the game this past Sunday. Gio said a former Eagles player said he would die for Dom. Zach Wilson will probably be named the starter today. C-Lo returns for an update but first Gio talks about Dua Lipa breaking up with her older boyfriend. C-Lo has audio of Diana Russini talking about Zach's relationship with the Jets. The Kelce brothers talked about being naked in the locker room in front of reporters. Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts said he didn't feel like lying, which is why he revealed the Dodgers met with Ohtani. The Moment of The Day involves Boomer breaking out the stat pack and Eddie breaking out a tremendous new drop to nail him with. In the final segment of the show, Norman Lear passed away. He was known for All in The Family, The Jeffersons, Maude and many others. He was 101 years old. We talked about the TV Hall of Fame.

A new study out of the U.K. indicates pandemic restrictions also had a deleterious impact on the minds of the elderly. Dr. Anne Corbett of the University of Exeter Medical School and her team examined neuropsychology data from 3,142 individuals, all 50 years of age or over, who had been participating in a multi-decade dementia study in Britain. The researchers compared data on this cohort collected before the pandemic, early in the pandemic, then once more toward the tail end of the pandemic. The researchers observed "[s]ignificant worsening of executive function and working memory" in the first year of the pandemic across the whole cohort, the average age of which was 67.5. Working memory continued to worsen across the whole cohort in the second year of the pandemic. By the time restrictions had ultimately been eased, the damage had been done. According to the study, cognitive decline was significantly associated with reduced exercise and increased drinking across the whole cohort. Depression, another driving factor of cognitive decline, was notable amongst those who contracted COVID-19. Loneliness proved especially detrimental to those with mild cognitive impairment. "People aged 50 years and older in the UK had accelerated decline in executive function and working memory during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, during which the UK was subjected to three societal lockdowns for a total period of 6 months," said the study, published in the Lancet journal Healthy Longevity. The British government, which funded this study via the National Institute for Health and Care Research, not only limited the number of times citizens could exercise outside during the pandemic, but shuttered gyms, golf courses, sports courts, swimming pools, and indoor sports facilities. "The scale of change is also of note, with all groups—the whole cohort and the individual subgroups—showing more than a 50% greater decline in working memory and executive function and many effect sizes reaching a clinically significant threshold of greater than 0·3," said the researchers. The researchers further stressed that "[t]hese factors map closely to the population-wide changes in health and lifestyle seen during and after the lockdowns, raising the important question of the effect of the pandemic on cognitive health and risk across populations." https://www.foxnews.com/politics/appeals-court-reinstates-gag-order-trump-fraud-case Appeals court reinstates gag order in Trump fraud case A New York appeals court reinstated a gag order preventing former President Donald Trump from maligning court staffers on Thursday. New York Judge Arthur Engoron had initially issued the gag order in early October after Trump lashed out at one of his law clerks on social media. Trump is currently fighting accusations of business fraud leveled by New York Attorney General Letitia James. Appeals court Judge David Friedman had issued a stay on Engoron's gag order on Nov. 16, saying it potentially infringed on Trump's First Amendment rights. By that time, Engoron had already fined Trump $5,000 for violating the order on social media on Oct. 20, and did so again on Oct. 25 for another $10,000 before threatening imprisonment if further violations were committed. Trump took the stand to testify personally in early November. He repeatedly cast James’ yearslong investigation and lawsuit as a "disgrace" and an attack on his business and his family. Trump has denied any wrongdoing and insists his assets were actually undervalued. Trump has repeatedly said his financial statements had disclaimers requesting that the numbers be evaluated by the banks. Engoron ruled in September that both Trump and his company had committed fraud by deceiving banks, insurers and others by overvaluing his assets and exaggerating his net worth on paperwork used in making deals and securing financing. Trump has attacked Engoron and James — both Democrats — as politically biased "operatives." "They are defending the Worst and Least Respected Attorney General in the United States, Letitia James, who is a Worldwide disgrace, as is her illegal Witch Hunt against me. The Radical and Unprecedented actions of Judge Engoron will keep BUSINESSES and JOBS forever out of New York State," Trump wrote in a recent social media post. https://www.justfactsdaily.com/1-in-every-39-americans-will-die-of-a-drug-overdose-at-current-rate 1 in Every 39 Americans Will Die of a Drug Overdose at Current Rate Despite the passage of state and federal laws that were supposed to reduce fatal drug overdoses, the annual U.S. drug overdose death rate has quintupled over recent decades: Over the most current year of available data, more than 110,000 people in the U.S. died of drug overdoses, a rate of 33 per 100,000 population. In order to measure these deaths in clear, relevant terms, Just Facts enlisted the expertise of a licensed actuary and a Ph.D. mathematician to calculate, double-check, and triple-check the average lifetime odds of dying of a drug overdose. The shocking result of these calculations is that 1 in 39 people will have their lives cut short by drug overdoses if the rate of such deaths stays at the current level. Those odds will become far worse if the rising trend continues. The lifetime risks of tragic events are much more revealing than the raw numbers or annual rates commonly reported by government agencies and the media. This is partly because the U.S. is the third-most populous nation in the world, so tens, hundreds, or even thousands of events may amount to a very low risk. The other reason, which is less obvious, is explained by a 1987 Department of Justice report on the likelihood of being a crime victim: Annual victimization rates alone do not convey the full impact of crime as it affects people. No one would express his or her concern by saying, “I am terribly afraid of being mugged between January and December of this year.” People are worried about the possibility that at some time in their lives they will be robbed or raped or assaulted, or their houses will be burglarized. Each month, the CDC estimates drug overdose deaths based on data reported by the 50 states and the District of Columbia. The latest estimates, which include deaths up through June 2023, show that 111,877 people died of a drug overdose in the prior 12 months. To place such figures into the broader context of the U.S. population and people’s lifespans, Just Facts asked a licensed actuary to develop a method for calculating the average lifetime risk of death from various causes. The actuary used two separate methods, both of which yielded the same results. To further ensure accuracy, Just Facts had a Ph.D. mathematician check the formulas. Applying this methodology to the CDC’s latest estimates of overdose deaths, roughly 1 in every 39 people will die of drug overdose if the rate of such deaths stays at its current level. Beyond lifetime risk, another important measure of a mortal danger is the years of life that it robs from its victims. Because humans cannot prevent death but only delay it, there is a material difference between the tragic premature deaths of a 20-year-old in the prime of her life and a 90-year-old in poor health. Although some leading medical scholars ignored that vital fact during the Covid-19 pandemic, a 1983 CDC report about fatal accidents explains that the “the allocation of health resources must consider not only the number of deaths by cause but also by age.” The average age of people who die of drug overdoses is about 43 years, while the average U.S. lifespan is about 77 years. In contrast, the average age of people whose deaths involved Covid-19 is about 75 years. Yet, government officials locked down entire states for extended periods to prevent the spread of Covid, causing multitudes of collateral deaths. This likely included overdoses, which soared in the wake of these measures. https://www.foxnews.com/sports/jets-aaron-rodgers-takes-big-step-hopeful-return-achilles-injury Jets' Aaron Rodgers takes big step in hopeful return from Achilles injury The New York Jets opened the 21-day practice window for Aaron Rodgers on Wednesday, sparking hope the quarterback could return this season just mere months after tearing his Achilles. Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters that it doesn’t necessarily mean Rodgers is going to come back and play, but is rather a "progression in his rehab." "For Aaron, what he would be doing in practice is no different than what he’d be doing on the field with regard to certain drills in the individual – instead of throwing with staff members, he’s throwing with teammates," Saleh told reporters. "There’s no added risk to it. There’s certain things he’s been cleared for that we’re going to allow him to do." Saleh lauded Rodgers’ drive and motivation for pushing himself to get back to where he is and the want and need for him to be with his teammates. "He’s sacrificed so much already for the organization and himself and his teammates and he’s doing it again. I think it’s a testament to who he is as a human," Saleh added. Rodgers’ timeline is still really unclear. He tried to lay it out the best he could in his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" this week. "Once I'm healthy, then it's where we're at, are we alive, are we in it… It's health first, and are we alive for the playoffs second.". New York is 4-7 entering Week 13 and their playoff hopes are dwindling.

Hour 1 We had another brutally boring football game last night between the Vikings and Bears. Boomer said it's because there have been 50 different starting quarterbacks this year. Even though we have been complaining about how bad the product has been, we are still watching. There's also a lack of hitting in practice which leads to poor play in the games. Boomer also said the majority of players coming in from college are not prepared for the pro game, particularly at quarterback. Even Patrick Mahomes sat for a year before he played. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with sound from last night's boring Monday night game. Rex Ryan said Brandon Staley should go back to Division III football. Gio wonders what Bill Cowher does with his free time and imagines him out clubbing in NYC. Joe Schoen talked to the media and didn't say much. Bill Simmons had a strange way to describe the Eagles season thus far. It involves Milton Berle. In the final segment of the hour, the Mets hired Scott Havens as President of Business Operations. They are going to try and build a casino over by Citi Field.  Hour 2 Giants GM Joe Schoen met the media and he was asked so many questions about the draft even though they are still ‘in the hunt' and the draft is so far away. He was also questioned about allowing Leonard Williams to decide if he wanted to go to Seattle. How involved should NFL owners be in the job of the GM? A caller doesn't like the way the media is portraying Italians when it comes to Tommy DeVito. Jerry returns for an update and starts with the Vikings announcers reacting to the loss to the Bears. Joe Schoen met the media and said Daniel Jones is the quarterback when he's healthy but they still need another QB. Maggie Gray talked about Bills fans throwing dildos on the field and Jets fans changing T-I-*-S. Gio does a Jon Heyman impression. In the final segment of the hour, Sports Illustrated is being accused of using A-I to create fake authors and using fake headshots for the authors. Eddie found an old memo from Mark Chernoff back in 1999 about putting ‘Eat Me' as the screen saver.  Hour 3 Would the Jets move on from Rob Saleh after this season? Probably not, because Aaron Rodgers seems to like him. Frank Reich was fired by the Panthers yesterday, the second straight year the Panthers fired a coach before he finished his first year. Callers wonder how Saleh survives after how bad he has been in his two years. A caller is upset at how Italians are being portrayed by the media with Tommy DeVito's success. Gio looked it up and he makes $10 million a year. Boomer wants a job like Jimbo Fisher, where he gets let go and still makes $76 million. Gio asked Al who's running the NY Rangers and Al said, ‘Gunther'. A caller said Tommy DeVito saved the Giants season, at least making it watchable. Boomer was in the bathroom and heard somebody wipe three times and he thought it was a lot. Jerry returns for his final update of the day and Boomer reads what Chat GPT said about him. Jerry starts with the Bears beating the Vikings in a boring MNF game. Mike McDaniel met with reporters and had fun with someone about the offensive line. Gio is in a Twitter fight with someone named Zach Braziller of the NY Post. He has had enough of the schmucks attacking WFAN. He called them ‘soapbox media a-holes'. The Moment of The Day involves Maggie Gray getting ‘dumped out' of her own show because of her salty language. In the final segment of the show, Boomer has his stat pack out with Bill Belichick info. Hour 1 With the Chiefs losing last night and not looking great offensively this year, the AFC seems wide open right now. In the NFC, what team can go into Philly and beat the Eagles? It looks like just the Niners. We talked about the Steelers and Boomer said Kenny Pickett has the same problem as Zach Wilson: he can't process the game. The Chiefs had a huge drop with 1:45 remaining in the game when Patrick Mahomes hit Valdes-Scantling with what should have been a TD. The Chiefs have not scored in the second half in the last 3 games. The Jets have moved Zach Wilson to the number 3 quarterback and for some reason they are dressing him Friday against the Dolphins. Gio said it sounds like Saleh really wants to distance himself from Zach. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with the sounds from last night's Eagles win over the Chiefs. We heard from Hurts and Mahomes after the game. Rob Saleh talked about Zach reacting to the news of his benching. They will deal with his future in the offseason. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the autographed guitar signed by the NFL Today crew. We also talked about the only team that could go into Philly and beat the Eagles and that's the Niners. A caller thinks Phil Simms should auction off a pair of his lady glasses for Hungerthon.   Hour 2 Everyone loves Tommy DeVito because he's from NJ, but Tim Boyle is also a local guy from Connecticut. Gio's not sure what to make of the Dolphins right now. They haven't found that gear that they had a few weeks ago. Boomer said the Niners had a good rhythm, lost it, but found it again. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Kevin Harlan calling the huge drop by Valdes-Scantling of the Chiefs. Gio thinks it's dangerous that we laugh along with an unhealthy Andy Reid. In the final segment of the hour, we talked to the Executive Director of Why Hunger, Jenique Jones. A caller also thinks Tommy DeVito plays like Tua. Alrighty sir Hour 3 Now that Zach Wilson has been relegated to third string, Gio is feeling a sense of relief. We are moving on and Gio doesn't have to fight with the Zach apologists. But are we expecting the offense to get much better with Tim Boyle? A caller wants Tommy DeVito to do a Jersey Mikes commercial with Danny DeVito. Gio then brought up Danny DeVito posting pics of his ‘troll foot' on Twitter. Jerry returns for an update but first Gio talks about a pro golfer who somehow got 3 clubs stuck in a tree. Jerry has audio from the Eagles win over the Chiefs in KC. Jalen Hurts is not satisfied with regular season wins. The Chiefs had a huge TD drop with 1:45 to go. Rob Saleh met the media to talk about the benching of Zach Wilson. Mike McCarthy gets his offensive coordinator a white mocha or something. In the final segment of the hour, the Executive Director of Why Hunger, Jenique Jones, joins us to update us on the WFAN auctions. In breaking news, the Steelers have fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada.  Hour 4 Today is Hungerthon day and Boomer & Gio have agreed to have lunch with whoever wins the auction to come watch the show. Boomer hates a restaurant that won't let you modify your meal. We have audio of Mike McCann doing an update from years ago where Gio made him read a fake commercial for Trix cereal and White Castle. We also talked more about Tommy DeVito and the Giants and the benching of Zach Wilson (finally). A caller tried to bore us to death and we barely escaped. Gio said the Jets are like Home Alone 2, but now starring Tim Boyle. Jerry returns for an update but first we were all invited to a child's 1 year old birthday party on a Sunday during football season. Unfortunately we can't make it. Jerry has all the audio from last night's Eagles win over the Chiefs in KC. Charissa Thompson talked about being locked out of her house and how it's ok to pee outside. Gio trained his dog by peeing outside so that his dog could see him. Pete Hoffman caught up with Dexter Lawrence in the locker room after the game in Washington. The Moment of The Day involves Gio's Mike McCarthy impression ordering coffee for his offensive coordinator. In the final segment of the show, Boomer got his CBS Sports NFL stat pack and has some stats on QBs.
