Dave and Bethlie discuss the book And The Bride Wore White. And The Bride Wore White takes the "purity talk" to a whole new level. Dannah Gresh is conversational, humorous, vulnerable, and frank, all while supporting every point with Scripture. Reading the book is like hearing from a loving big sister. It's written for high school through college aged girls, and we recommend that moms and their girls (or youth pastor's wives and teen girls) read it together. Charity and I read it together, and we had some great conversations. Be advised that Dannah is careful but frank about cultural struggles and purity issues. If we're being honest, our children, even if we feel they are totally protected from outside influences, are hearing what our world has to say about sexuality. It is worth it to prepare them with truth for the lies that our culture presents. Dannah is also open and honest (again, carefully) about her own purity failure as a teen. My fear when I first picked up the book, was that it would present her "fall" or "struggle" in such a way that it would give license to sexual sin because, after all, that's what grace is for, right? But that is not at all Dannah's heart. Her desire is to keep girls from the shattering heartache and years of guilt and shame that Satan and our world never promises, but always delivers. The book also addresses how to allow the Lord to free you from sexual sin and to live in victory and healing grace. *Charity told me that she felt the frankness of the book is needed to make sure every area of purity is well-covered and there is no room for "loop-hole" mentality. She said, "Mrs. Gresh makes sure she tells you every area that is wrong." Chapter Titles Include: And the Bride Wore White: Deciding to Live a Lifestyle of Purity Satan's Big Fat Sex Lies: Learning to Recognize the Truth Satan's Biggest, Fattest Sex Lie: Resisting the Lure to Sin Breakin' Up is Hard to Do: Breaking off Sinful Relationships in Three Steps Purity is a Process: Defining Innocence and Purity Purity Dreams of Its Future: Envisioning a Godly Husband Purity is Governed by Its Value: Discovering Your Value in God's Eyes Discovering Your Value in the Eyes of Others Purity Speaks Boldly: Preparing Your Tongue for Dates Purity Loves Its Creator at any Cost: Pursuing a Love Relationship with Jesus Purity Embraces Wise Guidance Inviting your Parents into Your love Life Purity Watches Burning Flames: Finding M.O.R.E. to Help You Each chapter begins with a testimony from a teen or college student who is walking or learning to walk in purity. One of the teen girls to whom I gave this book said that those testimonials really spoke to her. Every Chapter also begins with Scripture, the very first passage being Titus 2:11-13, "For the Grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;" And so chapter one starts with saying NO to ungodliness and worldly lust, but emphasizing that we cannot maintain that purity on our own. Every chapter ends with a reflection prompt allowing the reader to journal some ways that the Lord is convicting or encouraging them.

A link to that recording is in the notes.Hansen placed great emphasis on the role of aerosols in masking extra heating from global warming and how recent spikes in the earth's temperature are linked to a reduction in aerosols over the oceans. He also stressed the need for more research on solar geoengineering citing evidence for how historic volcanic eruptions, not only cooled the planet by reflecting the suns energy back to space but also stimulated carbon sinks creating a greater uptake of carbon dioxide. Here Clare reflects Hansen's findings as well as on a range of issues emphasising the need for humility in facing the enormity and complexity of the climate crisis. She also stressed the dangers of arrogance or over simplistic binary thinking.

Navigating the Complexities of Civil Procedure: Jurisdiction and VenueThis conversation provides a comprehensive overview of civil procedure, focusing on the essential elements needed to navigate the complexities of lawsuits in America. It covers the foundational concepts of subject matter jurisdiction, personal jurisdiction, and venue, along with the importance of pleadings, joinder, summary judgment, and the Erie doctrine. The discussion emphasizes the procedural traps and analytical frameworks necessary for success in civil procedure exams and practice. In the intricate world of civil procedure, understanding the foundational elements of jurisdiction and venue is crucial for any aspiring lawyer. These concepts are not just academic exercises; they are the keys to unlocking the courtroom doors. The Three Keys to the CourthouseImagine the courthouse as a fortress with three locked doors: subject matter jurisdiction, personal jurisdiction, and venue. Each door requires a unique key, and they must be unlocked in a specific order. Subject matter jurisdiction determines the court's power over the type of case, personal jurisdiction assesses the court's authority over the defendant, and venue ensures the trial is held in the most appropriate location.Subject Matter Jurisdiction: The First GateFederal courts, unlike their state counterparts, are courts of limited jurisdiction. They can only hear cases authorized by the Constitution or Congress. The two main pathways into federal court are federal question jurisdiction, where the plaintiff's claim is based on federal law, and diversity jurisdiction, involving parties from different states with a dispute exceeding $75,000.Personal Jurisdiction: Fairness and Due ProcessPersonal jurisdiction is rooted in the due process clause, ensuring fairness to the defendant. The landmark case of International Shoe introduced the concept of "minimum contacts," shifting the focus from physical presence to the defendant's actions and intentions within the state.Venue: The Final StepVenue is about convenience and geography, determining the most logical courthouse for the trial. Governed by statutory rules, venue is typically proper where any defendant resides or where a substantial part of the events occurred. The Evolving LandscapeAs the legal landscape evolves, particularly with the rise of the internet, the application of these rules continues to be a dynamic and challenging area of law. Understanding and mastering these procedural elements is essential for success in both exams and practice.Subscribe Now to stay updated on the latest insights and developments in civil procedure.TakeawaysCivil procedure is a step-by-step logic puzzle.Subject matter jurisdiction (SMJ) is crucial for any case.Personal jurisdiction (PJ) focuses on fairness to the defendant.Venue is about convenience and geographic location.Pleadings must meet specific standards to survive motions to dismiss.Joinder rules allow for efficient litigation of related claims.Summary judgment can resolve cases before trial if no material facts are in dispute. The Erie doctrine determines which law applies in federal diversity cases.Preclusion doctrines prevent relitigation of claims and issues.Understanding these concepts is essential for success in civil procedure.Civil Procedure, Subject Matter Jurisdiction, Personal Jurisdiction, Venue, Pleadings, Joinder, Summary Judgment, Erie Doctrine, Preclusion
When shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses? Exodus 8:9Have you ever wrestled with one of those problems that stubbornly refuses to go away? It seems to be immune to all solutions. You swat at the thing in every conceivable way, but instead of being eliminated, it expands and multiplies until it's wildly out of control. An Egyptian pharaoh faced just that kind of problem, the Bible tells us, thousands of years ago. He was in a hot dispute with God over the future of the Israelites, and as a result of that dispute, he woke up one morning to find his country swarming with frogs. Slimy, smelly, hopping-all-over-the-place frogs. It was a serious problem. I'm not talking about a frog or two in the front yard. I mean frogs were everywhere—in their beds, on their tables. Big old frogs in the ovens. Little bitty frogs in the bread dough and the drinking water. Frogs. Frogs in your hair. Frogs in places you wouldn't even want to think about! Then God made a move. He sent His man Moses in to Pharaoh to ask, "When shall I entreat the Lord to get these frogs out of here?"Do you know what Pharaoh said?"Tomorrow."Can you imagine that? He could have said, "Right now! Today!" But instead he decided he'd spend one more night among the frogs. You say, "That's the stupidest thing I ever heard. Why in the world would he say tomorrow?" I don't know. Probably for the same reason you want to wait until tomorrow to get saved or healed or prosperous. Here's what I want you to notice. When Moses asked Pharaoh that question and he answered, "Tomorrow," Moses said, "All right. So that you know there's a God in heaven, be it done according to your words."Let me ask you this: How long are you willing to let that persisting problem harass you? When are you going to get rid of the frogs in your life? Do you realize they'll stay around as long as you'll let them? They'll be there until you finally make a quality decision to go with the Word of God and get them out.Why don't you do it today?Scripture Reading:Exodus 8:1-13

This conversation delves into the core doctrines of evidence law, focusing on burdens of proof, judicial notice, privileges, and hearsay exceptions. The discussion emphasizes the importance of understanding the underlying principles and policies that govern these legal concepts, providing listeners with a comprehensive framework for navigating evidence law in exams and practical applications.Imagine standing in a courtroom, the stakes high, and the truth hanging in the balance. Evidence law is the backbone of this scenario, ensuring fairness and justice. In this post, we delve into the intricacies of burdens of proof, judicial notice, and privileges, unraveling their significance in the legal landscape.Burdens of Proof: At the heart of any legal proceeding lies the burden of proof, a party's responsibility to substantiate their claims. This burden is twofold: the burden of production, which requires presenting enough evidence to establish a prima facie case, and the burden of persuasion, which demands convincing the judge or jury of the truth of the claim. The dynamic nature of these burdens, especially in negligence cases, highlights the delicate balance between fairness and efficiency in trials.Judicial Notice: Judicial notice serves as a powerful tool for efficiency in the courtroom, allowing certain facts to be accepted as true without formal proof. Governed by F.R.E. 201, it distinguishes between adjudicative facts, which relate directly to the case, and legislative facts, which inform the law itself. The Lincoln Almanac trial exemplifies the strategic use of judicial notice, showcasing its potential to sway a case without additional testimony.Privileges: Privileges in evidence law represent a deliberate choice to exclude relevant evidence to protect vital relationships and societal values. The spousal privileges, for instance, safeguard marital harmony and confidential communication, reflecting the law's prioritization of personal relationships over complete transparency. Understanding these privileges, along with others like attorney-client and psychotherapist-patient, is crucial for navigating the legal landscape.Evidence law is a complex tapestry woven from the threads of fairness, efficiency, and truth. As you continue your legal journey, consider how these elements shape the pursuit of justice, balancing the scales between individual rights and societal interests. Subscribe now to stay informed on the latest insights in legal studies.TakeawaysThe goal is to understand the why behind evidence rules.Trial fairness is a constant balancing act with other societal values. The burden of proof is a party's responsibility to prove their claims. There are two components to the burden of proof: production and persuasion. The burden of production can shift between parties during a trial. The burden of persuasion never shifts from the party who originally had it.Different standards of persuasion exist: preponderance, clear and convincing, and beyond a reasonable doubt.Judicial notice allows courts to accept certain facts as true without formal proof.Privileges protect certain relationships even at the cost of excluding relevant evidence.Hearsay exceptions require the declarant to be unavailable for certain statements to be admissible.evidence law, burdens of proof, judicial notice, hearsay exceptions, legal privileges, trial fairness, standards of persuasion, legal education

In the development of animals, tissues self-organise starting from a single cell into lay- ers, shapes and patterns. This active mechanical process operates beyond the theoretical framework of reaction-diffusion equations such as Turing patterns. At the same time, combining active driving with careful mechanical design of a system is distinct route to pattern formation and artificial functionality. Here, I will begin by introducing vertex models, a tissue model where the two dimensional cell layer is approximated by a polygonal tilings. I will then how two types of active driving can generate function: First, for polar active materials, a coupling of activity to force, a.k.a. self-alignment, is generic. Governed by the activity-elasticity interactions, it generates either flocking or oscillatory dynamics depending on the boundary conditions of the tissue. Second, mechanochemical stress feedback in cell-cell junctions arises from the catch bond dynamics of the actomyosin cortex. It allows a junction to generate a contractile force that can overcome external pulling and thus allow for an active rear- rangement or T1. In vertex and continuum models, for strong enough feedback this gives rise to convergence-extension flows where the flow is opposite the direction of mechanical polarisation, effectively generating a negative viscosity state.
Summary: In Genesis 32, Jacob faces a moment of deep fear and crisis as he prepares to meet his brother Esau, whom he had wronged years earlier. Overwhelmed by anxiety, Jacob prays humbly, acknowledging his unworthiness and pleading for God's deliverance. That night, alone and desperate, Jacob wrestles with a mysterious man—God Himself in human form. In this struggle, Jacob is physically broken, his hip put out of joint, yet he clings in faith, refusing to let go without a blessing. God renames him Israel (which means “Governed by God”), marking the transformation of Jacob from a self-reliant schemer to a man dependent on God's grace.
The city once prided itself on civic order. But under the DMK, it has been made to believe that dysfunction is normal, accountability is too much to ask for, and complaints should be whispered, not filed.

We cannot faithfully look at a tree and hold tight to our idols of order and tidiness. A tree takes an axe to those idols, as it calmly grows with crooked branches. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t romanticize chaos or disorder, for it does strive to hold its shape and structure. It wants order and aims for structure. But it doesn’t simply topple over when its root is introduced to its first boulder. It doesn’t wait to grow until the ground below it and air above it is cleared of all obstacles. A tree reminds us that a fruitful life means growth, and growth is messy. It twists and bends. It warps and grasps. It lives and grows, mess and all. Governed by it’s Maker, a tree grows straight with crooked branches.

Send us a textThis week, I offer you a barefoot sermon from the battlefield of economic memory. A walk from Hamilton to Trump. From Ricardo to Argentina. From Abraham Lincoln's top hat to the red-capped defiance of tariff diplomacy. A retelling of the American experiment through its most potent and most misunderstood weapon: the tariff.I argue here that Donald Trump, however clumsy and chaotic, reignited a long-dormant Hamiltonian flame. Like Lincoln before him, who used tariffs not only to industrialize the North but to bleed the profits from slavery's Southern engine, Trump reached for tariffs not as isolation, but as revolt. The goal was disruption of the quiet exploitation that still oils the gears of the global economy. We begin with Hamilton. In 1791, he laid the blueprint for industrial sovereignty. While Britain imagined America as a spice colony, exporting raw goods and importing refinement, Hamilton saw something else. He saw factories. Foundries. Credit. Fire. His tariffs were not walls, but scaffolds. They wrapped the infant industries of the North in protection until they could stand on their own. Then came Ricardo, bond guru, master of the ledger. He preached comparative advantage, but assumed capital stayed still. That the factory would never chase the lowest wage. That trade was neutral. That power did not intervene. Hamilton saw the flaw long before it became scripture. Ricardo's theory, elegant on paper, became a passport for colonial subjugation. Had America followed it, she might have become another Argentina. Rich in soil. Poor in ambition. Governed by landlords. Exporting the future in exchange for someone else's present.Build the factory. Raze the plantation. Lincoln saw it in cotton. Trump saw it in Asian factories. In both cases, the profit was buried in the poison, and each man, in his own era and fashion, had the rare courage to call it by its name.To strike slavery and build a more enduring republic, Lincoln and maybe Trump, did not reach first for cannonballs or proclamations but rather they reached for the balance sheet. They understood that if you make the ledgers bleed, the system follows. That is their courage.Hugh⬇️ Subscribe on Patreon or Substack for full episodes ⬇️https://www.patreon.com/HughHendryhttps://hughhendry.substack.comhttps://www.instagram.com/hughhendryofficialhttps://blancbleustbarts.comhttps://www.instagram.com/blancbleuofficial⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Leave a five star review and comment on Apple Podcasts!

Like, none of this works, right? The math on this does not work.”The two of them also address the deficiencies in the modern, cautious, elderly Democratic Party. “The fundamental problem with Democrats, and this is not all of them, but with the older generation, is they can't get online,” argues Molly. “They can't do a Substack.”She believes the next Democratic presidential candidate has to be a master of messaging and has to be “someone who is gonna go out and do every interview and every podcast.”If you're a paid subscriber, please do watch the full 20-minute conversation above to hear Mehdi and Molly Jong-Fast's fun and passionate political discussion, in which they also tackle the failures of the mainstream media and Molly gives her prediction as to which Trump sycophant in his current cabinet will be fired soon and then write a tell-all book.
