The Wellington Phoenix have gone to their perennial choice to fill the coaching void for the men's A-League team. Head coach Giancarlo Italiano quit straight after the 5-nil trashing in the derby on Saturday and this afternoon the club confirmed reserves team coach Chris Greenacre would take on the role - for the fourth time. Sports reporter Felicity Reid spoke to Lisa Owen.

The Wellington Phoenix have confirmed the signing of All Whites defender Bill Tuiloma on a two-and-a-half year deal. It's a long-awaited homecoming for the 30 year old, who has played more than 200 professional matches in France and the United States. Tuiloma will have to wait for the A-League's mid-season registration window to open next Wednesday before he is able to make his club debut. Female footballers are more at risk of ACL injuries than their male counterparts, a phenomenon that is now so prolific it is part a FIFA study. Sports reporter Felicity Reid spoke to Lisa Owen.

On average the Phoenix had 739 people at their home games at Porirua Park in the 2024/25 A-League Women competition. According to a Professional Footballers Australia report this was 61 percent fewer fans than the previous season and the biggest decline in the 12-team competition. The second season of the New Zealand derby in the A-League kicks off tomorrow night in Wellington. Auckland FC and the Wellington Phoenix will again play three times this season - with the Phoenix still chasing their first victory against the northern neighbours.
