Jim and Karl decide to revisit SERENITY (2019), already discussed in the Bits Per Second episode #FishMatrix, and they take Chase and Kenney along for the ride. Here's the audio from Vlad's one-man show about his training with Marcel Marceau, recorded live at the Firehouse Theater on March 22nd, 2018, on what would have been Marcel's 95th birthday.
This is Part 2 of a 2-part episode. Those just discovering us may want to listen to the previous episode, "#ComingToAmericaTODAY." In Part 2 of our epic interview, Russian mime extraordinaire VLAD TENENBAUM tells us more about making his home in Lynn, Mass., takes us through a game of Soviet Russia true/false, introduces us to some Russian animal noises, and finally, gives us the epilogue of his pizza story. The Russian novel Vlad's talking about is The Master and Margarita: https://www.amazon.com/Master-Margarita-50th-Anniversary-Penguin-Classics/dp/0143108271/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=master+and+margarita&link_code=qs&qid=1573920062&sourceid=Mozilla-search&sr=8-1 There's more Vlad coming soon to the airwaves: first, the audio of Vlad's one-man show about his training with THE Marcel Marceau, and later we'll be recording a prequel interview where Vlad tells us more about his time in Soviet Russia. So stay tuned for our next episode, "The Phantom Red Menace," or: "Mime and Punishment." The Bit Players (and Vlad) perform every Friday and Saturday at 8pm at the Firehouse Theater in Newport, RI. It's always BYOB and tickets available at www.bitplayers.net.
On this episode, we divert a little bit from our usual format of Jarrod insisting on talking about wrestling to talk to our friend VLAD TENENBAUM, Russian mime extraordinaire, about his experience leaving Soviet Russia in the 80s and making his new home in the U.S. of A. This is episode 1 of a 2-part series. Premium members (friends of ours) can access the entire episode right now by subscribing (coming over for drinks and listening). If you like Vlad's story, check back soon for a bonus episode which features the audio from Vlad's one-man show about his training under Marcel Marceau. The Bit Players (and Vlad) perform every Friday and Saturday night at 8pm at the Firehouse Theater in Newport, RI. All shows are BYOB. Go to www.bitplayers.net for tickets.
Jarrod, Jim, and James--or the Triple J Squad, as they like to be called--discuss the new Dave Chappelle special, the VMAs, prison shows, and mid-2000s Steve Martin movies. Jarrod is going to Wrestlemania and continues to annoy Jim with this fact. Vermin Supreme is a performance artist and is running for President again in 2020. The Bit Players perform every Friday and Saturday at 8pm at the Firehouse Theater in Newport, RI. Tickets available at www.bitplayers.net. Theme music by Dorisduke, the band that is mostly Bit Players.
We won an award from RI Monthly! We didn't win the award from Motif Magazine (but Providence Improv Guild, a good theater, did, and they don't have doll heads in their basement, no matter what Jarrod tells you). And Jay Leno--JAY LENO--visited our theater one night. But we mostly talk about what vegetables are disgusting. At about 24:00 Conor and Karl walk in and ruin everything. We discuss a character Karl probably shouldn't have done, but on the positive side he had a really good poop earlier today. Jarrod's dog Gracie is @graciehoudini on Instagram. The Bit Players perform every Friday and Saturday at 8pm at the Firehouse Theater in Newport, RI. Visit www.bitplayers.net for tickets. The opening and closing music is by Dorisduke, the band that is 3/4 Bit Players and Bit Player alumni.
