This might include wound care, documentation, timely getting a concise history, or many other things. Our role right now needs to be focused on treating the patient as a whole and mitigating side effects caused by the reduced respiratory drive. Secondly to that, we need to make Narcan accessible and teach the public the most important things when interacting with these patients to maximize safety and patient outcomes! The one thing that we all struggle with in this field is psyche patients. When we are called to a home at 2am for someone who is suicidal or placing someone on a 72 hour hold, our first few moments are what sets the tone for all of their care from that moment on. Not only that but how we interact with them during those first few moments will make them more or less willing to accept the care they need. What do you think is the best approach to these patients? Zac Crickenberger makes a huge mistake by posting a video of a story of himself playing a song that mocks a patient with dwarfism. Its important as providers that we look into what happened and why it did when situations like this occur. Was it because of his character? Or a field that has little assistance for mental health? Its important as providers that we understand the heart and how it pumps our blood throughout the body. This episode talks about the mechanical function of the heart and school for thought on assessing these patients. A sad case of provider negligence that lead to the death of  a 35 yr-old male (Earl Moore Jr.). Providers Peggy Finley and Peter Cadigan responded to the residence of a 35 yr-old male that was hallucinating. The providers were negligent in treatment which lead to the eventual death of their patient. Criminal charges are pending with sentencing to be determined at this time. A deep dive into positional asphyxia and what happened to Earl Moore in this case. The case is still pending and coming up on 4 months with the last hearing in a few weeks.
